Learning outcome: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to;
1. Demonstrate their understanding of the reading comprehension by
participating in the classroom discussion orally (practice stage game) and
in written (Long response question).
2. Complete the questions in the worksheet given (related to the article) by
getting at least 8 out of 10 correct (MCQ).
Moral values : Know the rules of the road and responsibility to fellow road users

Stage 1
Explanation
(20 minutes)

1. Teacher asks students to read the


paragraph one by one.
2. Teacher asks students to underline any
words that they dont understand (If
there is any) apart from what has been
bold in the text.
3. Teacher explains each paragraph after
they have read through the reading
passage together.
4. Teacher relates the explanation with the
picture used.

Rationale: To introduce the topic of the day to


students in more detail.
Stage 2
Practice
(30 minutes)

Practice 1 : Vocabulary
1. After the teacher had finished explaining
about the reading passage, teacher
conducts mini game to test students
understanding.
2. Students will be divided into two groups,
A and B.
3. The first game is the vocabulary game,
mix and match; to test students logical

on the contextual clues.
4. For this game, teacher pastes the
vocabulary flashcards and its meaning
on whiteboard and students have to
match each vocabulary with correct
meaning.
5. As it would be like a mini competition
between the two big groups, teacher will
divide the whiteboard into two sections
and both groups are required to match
each vocabulary with its meaning at the
same time and the fastest group to finish
the game with all correct answer will be
elected as the winner.
Practice 2 : True/False Quizzes
6. In the second practice stage, teacher
focuses on students listening skills
whereby the teacher read out 10
true/false questions, and students are
required to answer orally.
7. Students still work as a group using the
same group as in the first game.
8. The fastest one to rise up their hands will
be given the chance to answer first and if
it is wrong, their opponent will be given
the chance to answer the question.
9. Group with highest points will be elected
as the winner.
Rationale : To elicit students participation in
group discussion and through true/false activity
helped to make sure students understand what is
being taught.
Stage 3
Production
(20 minutes)

1. After reading the text together and had


done with the mini games, teacher
instructs students to answer reading
comprehension exercises based on the
passage individually.
2. Teacher collects students work at the end
of the class.
Rationale : To enable students to think critically
and demonstrate their understanding of the
lesson.

1. Teacher asks students what they have


learnt today.
2. Teacher recapitulates on what they had
learnt today.
Rationale: To make an overview of what the
students have learnt and also to instill moral
value.

vocabulary worksheet where they would
be required to mix and match the words
to its meaning.
3. Students also need to answer 10 MCQ
questions related to the passage.
4. Teacher collects students work at the end
of the class.
Rationale : To enable students to think critically
and demonstrate their understanding of the
lesson.
