Assessment 1

Diploma of Project management

Project Time
Andres David Giraldo
Part A Case Study

1. Outline the time management tools and techniques that you would
need to use
-

Bar charts
Schedule simulation
Critical chain management
Critical path diagrams
Gantt charts
Project schedule network diagrams

2. How will you appli these tools and techniques? What outcomes do
you expect.
The tools and techniques of schedule help me to have a control over the entire
timeline of my project, through these tools and thechniques I can identify
delays that significantly impact my project.
The results can I expect when using this tool will be reflected in the fluent of
my project and in the correct assignment of tasks through the timeline, delays
were minimized and times will optimize facing the results
3. Disctuss any limitations of the tools and techniques you have
mentioned.
The tools and techniques contain data that are manually entered, the risk of
human error should be contemplated as it may always be possible that it
exists

4. Outline how you would use estimation techniques to tederminte task

duration and resource effor
by using a network diagram Project Schedule I can determine the allocation of
tasks as WHO Provide guidance as to the internal costumer is for each task.
by determing the predecessor and successr relationships and then a
connecting the tasks upon Those relationships.
5. Explain the procedures of identify critical path
we can identify the critical path by identify the longest path throughout the
network the longest sequence of activities on the path. we have to be sure to
look for the longest path in terms of longest duration in days, not the path with
the most boxes or nodes.
we can also identify critical activities with the Forward Pass/Backward Pass
technique, identifying the earliest start and finish times, and the latest start and
finish times for each activity.
one efective method of identify the critical path is using a gantt chart by
following the next steps
Choose a Gantt Chart Template
List the Task Information
determine Start and End Dates
Add % Complete and Assigned To Information
Establish Predecessors
Identify the Critical Path
6. Describe the procedures for managing baselines, establishment and
variance
in the first instance it is necessary to identify the type of baseline that we will
manage as there are several types, cost baseline, baseline quality and
schedule baseline.
once we identified the baseline we can continue to manage our baseline. The
process control and monitoring of the baseline is critical because it can
determine the success of the project.
A base line contains a group of primary references including:
- Start dates
- Finish dates
- Duration estimates
- Work estimates
- Cost estimates

7. What are the phases within the life cycle of your project? What is
included within each phase.
There are four phases within the projects life cycle:

Initiation
Scope
Purpose
Objectives
Resources
Deliverables
Timescales
Structure

Planning
Project plan
Resourse plan
Quality plan
Risk plan
Financial plan

Execution
Cost management
Risk management
Time management
Issue management
Quality management
Change management

Evaluation
This phase let me know how effective and successful was my project.

8. What is a work breakdown structure? How can this be applied to your

project schedule
The work breakdown structure is a deliverable-oriented decomposition of a
project into smaller components. A work breakdown structure is a key project
deliverable that organizes the team's work into manageable sections.
