ON MOUNTAIN TRAIL RACES.
Spain is world number two in terms of quantity and quality of trail running enthusiasts,
making a total of 300.000 runners who compete in more than 1.000 trail running events
a year. As a sport level, the Spanish trail runners accumulate victories on major world
races since more than a decade, becoming the most laureate country in the IAAF
Skyrunning World Cup. (mountain trail) and second in the IAAF Trail World Series
(Athletics).
Ultradistance mountain races are the great dream to achieve for most trail runners. They
compete from 42 km up to 80 km and 100km or even 160 km, fighting from 15 to 45
hours without giving up to reach their dream. An achievement that last in their memories
for years. An illusion that is shared before, during and after with a large range of friends
and relatives.
With this activity and being both the second most mountainous country in the continent
and being a leader on tourism, we owe the potential to create a warranty brand to
consolidate as a national and international benchmark for large ultradistance journies in
high mountain. Moreover, in many of the main ultradistance mountain races, the weight
of foreign runners can make a portion between 1/3 to 2/3s of the total bibs, meaning a
direct boost on tourism for the mountain territories that host them.

The key to creating and developing a brand requires attention on two aspects: First of
all, everything must start from the creation and development of a large selection of trail
in really high mountains, integrated and representative of its territory as well as evidence
of sports events already consolidated and with proven prestige. Integrating each event
shall be performed following three routes: sport circuit for some and guarantee label for
the balance, according to the possibilities and priorities of each one. Finally, the second
key aspect is having a central organization guaranteeing a proper communication.
PHILOSOPHY ALPINULTRAS, CIRCUIT AND LABEL.
Every race distinguished career with the seal will have a consolidated prestige (Spanish
Cup, Catalonia Championship, etc.) and above all a great high mountain atmosphere,
with the top of the race nearly at 3.000 meters, treading on snow and crossing crests,
estanys and alpine sections of great beauty along the path.
All races have been raised by local mountain clubs and are fully integrated with the local
population of each region that hosts them, who adopt them participating as runners,
volunteers and supporters.
TARGETS.
Alpinultras aims to create a benchmark for the 300000 Spanish runners, being
100.000 of mountain running federated, offering a great annual challenge for the
trail runners.

multiply the number of participants and
visitors, all of whom look to the
Showpiece as the dream to achieve in
the future

LABEL
Ensure the enthusiast that by participating in this race they will be able to enjoy a
different way of living the high mountain. A more alpine that athletic experience with an
own focus among more than 1.000 trail running races that are held in the country.
The Alpinultras label will distinguish the high mountain ultradistance races that represent
the real alpine values.
Races reaching altitudes of 2.000-3.000 meters.
Mountain paths with great predominance of trails and alpine sections and
marginal presence of tracks or small roads.
Races developed and managed by local people using mountain clubs, Town
Halls or equivalents.
CIRCUIT
The circuit will gather those races distinguished with the label wishing to also coordinate
and create a sports competition in an integrated manner. Each year a minimum of races
of the circuit to be completed will be announced to be rewarded as finalist. True ALPINE
high mountain runners who are able to complete these great trails combining the speed
of an experienced runner with the experience and mastery of classic alpinists.
MEDICAL TEST
The project will include a medical test led by Dr. Vicente Clemente and supported by
Universida Europe de Madrid to conduct medical monitoring of each participant and
allow to draw conclusions to prepare and better recovery of each runner before, during
and after these great mountain trails.

SPORTS AND LOCAL BENEFITS.
The development of this brand can not only create a guarantee seal for the journey of
fans worldwide, but also encourage it through a prestigious sports competition. Thus, it
seeks to promote enormous value environment areas needed to find a lever that allows
them to achieve a sustainable development throughtout the year.
Ultradistance major races as the ones proposed by AlpinUltras have already
demonstrated that manage to unite local people, involved as volunteers and animators
along the route, with non-resident, all merging in a common illusion. And, each event
leaves a lot of money in the region hosting the event.

For these reasons, many public administrations are already aware of the enormous

AlpinUltras communication hosts three legs: the self-communication of each of the
participant events, the circuit as a mountain challenge and the general label.

The videos of each of the races are projected on a regular basis on channels as
teledeporte or Canal+, also have national passes as the one on RTVE and other channels
when the events are being celebrated.

The circuit also provides additional services that allow reaching generalist national
media and outdoor sports specialists both national and international.
