Is the mobile phone the worst worlds invention?

This subject was recently discussed in our class and after a heated debate, a
partially accepted conclusion regarding the utility of the mobile phone was
reached. I will try to put forward some of the best arguments of the attendants.
To begin with, the mobile phone was invented in order to communicate between
distant points, a necessity that was asking for a solution more and more.
Nowadays, many people tend to disregard it as being a marketing strategy and
some kind of trap. Scientists, however, tend to contradict this kind of opinions,
stating that, in the last few decades, when the technology inside those little
boxes has only been getting more and more complex, population has reached
its apogee in means of intelligence and personal development.
Secondly, the utility of the mobile phone tends to be underestimated by most of
the people. One of the most important advantages is that nearly anybody can
easily overcome the daily hurdles of having to pay taxes physically and even
shopping, simply by making use of the technology available which mostly means
mobile phones. However, there are people who tend to say that it is a waste of
time, energy and can easily bring about addiction.
To conclude, I would say that the invention of the mobile phone is one of the
greatest and most innovative invention lately in means of technology. However,
one must not underestimate its power of overwhelming ones others activities,
and try not to get addicted to it. (256)

Dear Sir or Madame,

I am writing to express my deepest interest in a part time job as a sales assistant
in your company. I have seen the advertisement in a local newspaper and
because reading has always been a part of me, I decided to apply for the job.
Having seen the company history and achievements, I was quite impressed by
its ability of reaching certain targets and managing to carry out difficult tasks.
I am currently in my third year of study at LLU (Linguistics & Literature
University) and have recently obtained a sales assistant degree as I have also
attended quite a few economy classes, not only literature and linguistics. My
fascination with literature and reading in general is a deep-rooted one, starting
from the moment I first went to school and discovered that reading is one of the
most relaxing and entertaining activities one can do.
I am confident that you are not only in the search of a knowledgeable person in
means of literature, but also a person who can easily communicate and
understand the fine mechanisms behind the modern economics. Having taken
this into consideration, I can say I have participated not only in multiple public
speaking competition where I also managed to always obtain prizes, but also in
economy classes where I tried to understand as best as I could the basics of how
economy works.
