Advanced Casting Simulation Software

AnyCasting Introduction
The casting process is used these days to produce various items from simple shapes to precision parts. Further
efforts are still needed, however, to develop efficient casting process through which production
cost-reduction & time-saving can be achieved, although there have been some improvements made through
various experiments and researches. Experimental researches are being conducted, for the most part, to
identify the factors that affect the quality of cast iron during the filling & solidification process.
However, there are limitations in the naked-eye inspection of casting process because of its characteristics
and they lead to limited measurement and observation. Various studies are being carried out to overcome
such limitations and improve casting process through experimental researches and numerical analyses.
Numerical analyses can be very useful in improving the initial development & design as it provides useful
information on the filling and solidification patterns even in areas that could not be seen because of the mold.
AnyCasting provides the filling & solidification patterns of various casting processes accurately and instantaneously. This useful information provided by AnyCasting will allow users to identify any issues involved in
the design of manufacturing process, which will lead to cost-reduction and productivity improvement&
increase. AnyCasting will become your best tools to produce top-quality products.
The followings are the features, programs and workflow of AnyCasting.
022 AnyCasting User Maunal / About AnyCasting

1.2 AnyCasting Components

anyPRE
anyPRE, the pre-processor of AnyCasting, includes a function for generating mesh by analyzing CAD data, as
well as setting simulation condition to launch anySOLVER. anyPRE provides a robust mesh generation feature
with surface vector tracking method and variable mesh algorithm. Using the variable mesh feature enables
hundreds to tens of millions mesh generation within a very short time. The advanced graphic performance of
anyPRE allows a user to easily identify the shape of CAD data regardless of the data size, and it also provides
the geometry analysis, rotation and CAD data merge features. Additionally, users can choose their working
process & material, boundary condition, gating condition, etc. and special devices and models can be also
set.

anySOLVER
anySOLVER simulates the solidification and flow of designated process by analyzing the simulation condition
and mesh generation from anyPRE. It can simulates and casting, metal-mold casting, investment casting and
gravity tilt pour casting, as well as the cycle process of high & low pressure die casting. anySOLVER also
provides Pause/Continue, Result File Save and Restart functions that can be used at anytime during the
simulation process. With its Restart function, users can resume their previous simulations that stopped
intentionally or by an accident such as a blackout. (except for sleep mode)

anyPOST
anyPOST provides a function for analyzing the simulation results in graphics. It also provides other features
such as filling time, solidification time, particle tracking, contour (temperature, pressure, velocity, oxide,
solute concentration, melt tracking), 2D or 3D velocity vector, sensor result graph, etc. Various solidification
defects can be also identified by using combined defect parameter. Additionally, anyPOST can export various
file formats including image, movie and graphic data that can be used in connection with various applications such as MS-Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Origin. Users can also create reports in certain formats by
using its Auto-Report feature. The proven technological know-how of AnyCasting enables fast processing
and handling of result display, analysis and high-volume result files.

024 AnyCasting User Maunal / About AnyCasting

anyDBASE
anyDBASE is a database management program for managing the melt, mold and other materials used in
casting process. anyDBASE consists of two types of databasesgeneral database and user database. The
general database includes over 200 kinds of properties of ferrous alloy, non-ferrous alloy, non-metal and
functional materials based on various international standards (KS, JIS, ASTM, etc.). The user database is for
creating a database according to specific user requirements by selectively choosing and/or copying desired
materials from the general database or by creating a database without using resources in the general database. Additionally, MPC(Material Properties Calculator) module can be used to enter the alloy components
information for unassisted calculation of the thermal properties. This can drastically enhance the accuracy of
simulation results.

anyMESH
anyMESH provides a function for modifying meshes built in anyPRE. For any errors in a 3D CAD model,
anyMESH can proceed with its calculation by revising the error components without having to repeat the
mesh generation process by using the revised model. anyMESH can quickly process even tens of millions of
meshes, as well as conveniently edit meshes through the use of keyboard and mouse.

Batch-Runner
Batch-Runner is a program for running multiple simulations all at once in batch. It normally takes several
hours to analyze a single casting and several simulations are conducted upon changing the simulation conditions. However, these tasks can be performed conveniently and easily when Batch-Runner is used.
Batch-Runner starts after adding the corresponding batch simulation condition files (*.prpx,*.prp) to the list,
and the anySOLVER execution number is automatically adjusted upon considering the number of CPU/Core
and the size of memory and available disk space. A simulation that was stopped abnormally due to a blackout
or OS error (except for sleep mode) will resume once the computer reboots as the last saved project is automatically detected. It also allows unrestricted revision of adding, deleting or changing priority of the simulation list even when the simulation is being performed.
