Lesson Plan in Science V

I. Objective
Cite examples of plants that can grow in specific environment

II. Subject Matter

Examples of Plants that Can Grow in Specific Environment
A. Science Ideas/Concepts
1. Water Lily, water hyacinth and azolla are plants that grow in water. They
are called aquatic
plants.
2. Orchids like dendrobium and vanda are plants that grow on upper trunk of
trees. They are
called aerial plants.
3. Makahiya, banana, acacia tree, and ipil-ipil are plants that live on land.
They are called
terrestrial plants.
B. Science Processes Stressed
Observing and Inferring
C. Materials
Real or picture of plants that live in land, in water, and in air, charts, strips of
cartolina, activity
cards
D. Reference

Science for Daily Use V TXT pp.117-118
E. Value
Love and Care for Plants
F. DepEd Thrust
Environmental Awareness
III. Developmental Activities
A. Pre-Activity
Sing a song (It`s Our Science Time)
1. Science News
2. Review
What are the characteristics of plants that help them reproduce their own
kind?

Game: Using a strip of cartolina where the name of plants is written, the
pupil will identify
the special characteristic of plants which
help them reproduce their own kind. The
teacher will be the
one to pick first and the pupil who gives the correct answer will be
next to pick and ask her/his classmates. Is everybody willing to join?
3. Motivation
The teacher shows a picture of a garden. Let the pupils locate and identify
the different
places where plants are located. Can you name plants that
grow in environment?
4. Presentation
Today let us study about the specific environment where plants grow. Now,
we will find out
in doing this activity.
B. Activity Proper
1. Setting of standards for group work.
2. Distribution of activity cards and materials.
3. Performing the activity.
C. Post Activity
1. Reporting
2. Discussion/ Analysis
Show a real or picture of real plants that live in water, in air and in land.
1. Where do plants like azolla, water lily and hyacinth grow? What do
you call the plants
that live in water.
2. What plants grow on upper trunk of trees with roots suspended in
the air to absorb
moisture and gasses? What do you call these
kind of plant?
3. What plants grow on land? What do you call a plant that live in land?
3. Generalization
Give examples of the following:
1. aquatic plants
2. aerial plants
3. terrestrial plants

4. Application
A. Mix and match. Teacher provides pictures of plants and 3 specific
environments. Let the
pupils match the mixed pictures.
B. Your friend gives you an orchid. Where will you plant it? After planting
that orchid, what
will you do next? Why? What attitude do you show if
you take care of plants. What is the
importance of plants?
