Resume writing is not about you. Its about your abilities to do a particular job / you skills for
a particular job, whether you have what the hiring managers are looking for.

What the hiring managers want?=> The job, the company, the industry

Magmnt trainee: leadership, communication skills, creaivity, peoples skills, observation


skills, organisational skills, time management => a list of about 6-8 competencies ( Restiction
by 2 pages of resume allowed). For some company, only 1 page or 2 page resumes are
accepted.
Your ability to network and research: will determine how well you can know what the hiring
manager wants. Ask very specific questions? Eg: What do they do everyday? ( what skills are
need=> what skills you want to put in your resume => a more detailed job description).
Whats the companys culture? ( Ask about the slsection process ( who are you interviewers,
do I have to play a game....many other questions)? Can I take a look at your resume? ( you
friends resume is the model answer)
+Listen carefully to the advice given: whether it is the rules or the exception
Build a network : try and know someone from Google if you want to work in Google in the
future. The same goes for any company

But writing a good resume is a problem

Work experience: what have you done differently from the same person with the same
capacity as you. Dont only describe whta youve done+ very specific+ you did it alone, or as
a group.
Adjectives alone are ambiguous. Use numbers and more details to substantiate and make it
more specific. Try to provides details from your numbers
As a hiring manager, they are trained to read between the line. If you dnt tell them the result,
they will assume the result to be bad. If the results are good, you must explicitly state so.
Whenever you said something, you must be specific.
Specific how many, how much, the scale of your work
same for project, CCA and working experiment
How you market yourself is very important
COVER LETTER:
Answer the job ad
Provide examples of your activies to prove that you have of what the hiring managers want
Dont copy/paste the wordings from resume even though the same ideas may be presented
twice in both resume and cover letter
Same format as resume.
Do not exceed 1 page. But dont make it less than 1 page also. Give an exact 1 page cover
letter
Practice networking. What to talk about with them?
Talk about who are they hiring, what kind of things do they do? What do their employeeds
lido ? Practice, go for networking session to practice talking to employers so that in your final
year, you will be better at talking to employers and networking. , better job searching for you.
Tell them that youre only first year and youre looking for intership opportunties only.
