National Watercolor Society
Traveling Show Oct 1 thru Oct 30
SASi is excited to welcome the NWS Traveling Show to
Kings Mountain. We are the only east coast venue
showcasing this amazing collection of water based
media. The traveling exhibit consists of 31
paintings by artists from around the world selected
for the traveling show after being juried into the
prestigious NWS International Exhibit held in San
Pedro, CA last year. To be included in NWS exhibits,
the painting must be primarily water based media on a
paper surface and unvarnished. Pastel or collage, if
used, must be in conjunction with the water media. The
water media must be the dominant element.

Tuesday Sept 6 meeting:
Verre glomis

SASi artist Ron Shepard will demonstrate and guide us

in Verre glomis reverse painting on glass. Learn
the technique of drawing an outline of a still life onto
glass with India Ink and then painting on the glass
using a reverse application of oil or acrylic paint. If
you would like to work along with Ron, please
bring a 5x7 frame with a glass insert (cannot be
plastic). Ron will provide acrylic and oil paints,
brushes, and a template of a drawing to use.

Tuesday Oct 4 meeting:

Watercolor Landscapes

SASi artists Darlene Godfrey and Jan Welborn will

lead us in painting our own miniature watercolor
landscape. All supplies will be provided. Bring a friend
and try this wonderful medium and be inspired by the
paintings in the National Watercolor Traveling Exhibit
on view thru Oct 30. This is a FREE program.
Bring yourself and a friend, we will supply the
materials. No experience necessary!
SASI meets the first Tuesday each month.
