Sound in Thrillers

Diegetic- sound heard from a scene real or natural sound


Non-diegetic- sound edited in to a scene
Soundtrack- a track of sound in the background such as an orchestra usually
played throughout the film
Ambient Sound- sounds that go on in the background to create atmosphere.
Synchronous sound- which goes with the action and events occurring in the
scene
Sound bridge- even if scene has changed the sound stays the same this links two
scenes together
Incidental sound- reacting to an incident, helps story line move on
Asynchronous Sound- which contradicts the events occurring
Crescendo- gradually getting louder
Diminuendo- Gradually getting quieter

Crescendo
It makes the audience feel intimidated gives a sense of mystery
A Cello saxophone double bass trumpet, violin are used in this piece.
The sound reflects maybe an adventure or thriller as it gives of that impression
As the diminuendo happens it gives to the audience that someone is following
something
This sound is ambient sound

A Crescendo is used
It gives off a sad feeling to the audience maybe someone has died?
The idea of the tempo getting faster could suggest possibly a war scene where
there is fighting happening and people dying. This would affect the audience as it
is playing with their emotions.
As the crescendo gets louder it is adding to the climax. It also could suggest
victory or the scene as reached its climax such as a fight. The music comes
across very dramatically.

The instruments used were electric guitar make it futuristic

Piano repetitive clashes with the other instruments when they come in

Comes across peaceful, happiness in a weird way like someone is getting
happiness out of killing someone like physcopathic.
Asynchronous sound because it comes across as innocence.

Dark music as it creates tension


Fast tempo to keep up with the action happening in the piece.
Usually an orchestra is used to build to the climax of the piece.
Usually when reached climax the soundtrack is loud adding to the tension
and suspense.
