SENIOR PASTOR

DIVE IN!
The ancient theologian, Jerome, wrote: “The scriptures are shallow
enough fora babe to come and drink without fear of drowning and
deep enough for theologians to swim in without ever reaching the
bottom.” You can dive into a unique time of study, growth, and
fellowship in our midweek adult program for men and women -
RefresHer and Band of Brothers, which begins this week.
RefresHer is offered on Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening,
giving two options. Table times allow for deepening relationships
and making friends. My wife, Janet, and daughter, Kristin, will be
co-teaching, alternating each week, in an original study through
the book of Romans. This great epistle teaches you not only how to
believe but also behave as you see the great themes of sin,
salvation, sanctification, sovereignty, and service unfold in
Romans.
On Wednesdays in the Chapel at 6:30pm, the men will have a
unique opportunity to wade into the Word in the Bible’s longest
chapter - Psalm 119. The staff and | will be alternating in teaching
through Psalm 119, which is organized according to the Hebrew
alphabet. This is the journey by one man into the heart of God by
being immersed in the scripture. Described as “a man after God's
own heart,” David models for men themes such as seeking God
wholeheartedly, being blessed and happy, having a pure heart,
meditating on truth, understanding the ways of God, learning to
trust His Word, walking at liberty, dealing with suffering, and more.
In Band of Brothers, you will hear personal testimonies by various
men as they have learned to apply the Word of God and also hear
brief presentations about little-known evidences of the Bible's
credibility. Faith is “confident belief in the truth, value, or
trustworthiness of a person, idea, or faith.” Our confidence is in the
inerrancy and infallibility of the Bible, but also with its practicality.
Our hope is not wishful thinking but rock-solid assurance! Ladies
and gentlemen, like the old saying, “Come on in, the water is fine,
so dive in!"
