And few minutes ago there were added 7 citizens who have this disease.
For our further information here we have Doctor Kamlian. Good afternoon doc!
Me: Good afternoon
Jenne: So, what is all about this disease doc? Why is spreading all across this brgy
easily?
Me:

MEASLES is an airborne disease which means that it is a disease caused by

pathogens and transmitted through air. We have 2 types of measles, the
GERMAN MEASLES and the RED MEASLES. Each is caused by different virus.
The German measles is caused by RUBELLA VIRUS where as the Red measles
caused by RUBEOLA VIRUS.

(signs and symptoms)

We have also different signs and symptoms. For German measles:

mild fever, usually under 38 degree Celsius.

swollen and tender lymph nodes.
runny or stuffy nose.
headache.
muscle pain.
inflamed or red eyes. (The incubation period is 14-17 days with a range of 14-21
days. Rash is the first symptoms to appear. Rash appears 2 weeks after infection.)

For red measles:

Fever
Dry cough
Sore throat
Inflamed eyes
Tiny white spots with bluish-white centers on a red background found inside the
mouth on the inner lining of the cheek.
Which (last about three to seven days)

The (mode of transmission) of each measles are similar.

Can be spread by direct contact with nasal or throat secretions of infected
individuals. Rubella can also be transmitted by breathing in droplets that are sprayed into
the air when an infected person sneezes, coughs or talks.
(Clinical Diagnosis)
Both are can be tested by serologic test for measles, confirmed by a blood test, or
detection of the virus in urine, throat or eye specimens.
(Prevention-Vaccination for both kinds of measles)
Children 12 months of age or older should have 1 dose of MMR or MMRV, separated
by at least 28 days. Adolescents and adults who have not had measles or have not been
vaccinated should get 2 doses, separated by at least 28 days. The MMR or MMRV is not
100% effective on preventing measles, but it can prevent you from any serious
complications like pneumonia, mumps and worse, death.
