Count forward beginning from a given number
within the known sequence (instead of having to
begin at 1).

Students Will Know:


~How to correctly follow words on a page.
~How to sweep from left to right.
~How to read the pages of various texts from left to
right, and go from top to bottom on the page of text.

Students Will Be Able To:


~Follow print from left to right
~Follow print from top to bottom
~Count forward in a sequence from a number other
than 1.

Columbus.

Lesson Instruction
Learning Activity 1 Read aloud on Christopher Columbus. Ask
questions before, during and after.
Assessment Prompt for LA 1. Students will complete the Who was
Christopher Columbus either by writing words or drawing pictures to
answer the questions
Learning Activity 2 Create a bubble map after reading a book on
Christopher Columbus.

Assessment Prompt for LA 2 Students will retell the story of


Christopher Columbus by cutting, coloring, and pasting the pictures in
the correct order

Learning Activity 3 Create a timeline of their day at school. What


happens first, then, next, last?

Assessment Prompt for LA 3 Students will take their 3 pictures and put
them in order of first, then, next, and then they will draw a picture of
what they will look like when they graduate from high school.
Learning Activity 4 Using the 100s chart, count from 1 and count to 50.
Then point to another number and start counting from that number.
Assessment Prompt for LA 4 Students will play the game where
students will choose and card. The card says where to start and end
counting. Use the 100s chart as help.

Assignment

Summarizing Strategy. Exit/ticket out the door. As the students are leaving, give them a number and
they need to tell you the next 3 numbers after it.
