HOUSEKEEPING PROCEDURE FOR

ES ODORACTENT HIGH DENSITY FOGGING
The following method is used when a space has become highly saturated with an odor,
(i.e.: urine). This procedure should only have to be performed once, however, in extreme
cases a second application may be necessary after 12 hours. Please note that High
Density Fogging can be done even if step 1 & 2 are not possible (a Black Light will still
show the effected area however the odor will be gone after treatment).
1.

Inspect the area using a Black Light to identify the contaminated areas.

2.

Wash walls, baseboards, ceilings, etc. (all hard surfaces showing contamination)
with a special ammonia salt removing soap. If carpet or fabric, use the same soap
and wet/dry vacuum up.

3.

Determine the number of cubic feet in the space to be fogged by the following
method: (cubic feet = length X width X height of the space). Example: Room is
10' long X 10' wide X 8' high. Multiply 10' X 10' X 8' = 800 cubic feet. To
determine the amount of time to fog, divide the total cubic feet of the space by
100, this equals the number of ounce needed, i.e.: 800 100 = 8oz. Now, divide
the number of ounces by 2 to get the number of minutes needed to fog the space
correctly, i.e.: 8oz 2 = 4 minutes (based on use of Cyclone DynaFog unit).

4.

Prepare the deodorizing chemical and fill the fogger, check fogger to insure that
the dial is set at 10, the highest setting (on Cyclone DynaFog Unit).

5.

If a furnace filter is controlling the space, replace it with a new one.

6.

Turn off all fans, air conditioning or heating units as they may effect the floating
action of the fog.

7.

Remove people and pets from the room to be deodorized.

8.

Remove all open food products, dishes, utensils from the room to be deodorized.

9.

Make sure all exterior doors and windows are closed.

10.

Open all closet doors, cupboards, drawers and cabinets. If the room has drapes,
close them so the folds are spread out as much as possible. If the room has mini
blinds unroll them and open the slats.

11.

Open the cold air return for the ventilation system and remove the filter. Hold
fogger so it points into the ventilation system for 2-5 minutes.

12.

Holding the fogger in your hands and standing about 3 to 4 feet back, fog the
drapes and/or blinds up and down and side to side, making sure you cover the
complete area, keep the fogger moving, lightly dampen, do not wet or soak area.
Repeat this procedure with any and all upholstered furniture (this task is
required since drapes and upholstered furniture tend to absorb more odors than
the rest of the room). Cautions: A few manufacturers of drapes and upholstered
furniture still use vegetable dye, if wet, vegetable dye may run. If there are
stains (i.e.: tobacco) wetting stains could cause them to run.

13.

Lightly and quickly fog into all closets, cupboards, drawers and cabinets.

14.

Fog around corners and niches, where air current may not readily carry the fog on
their own (if you have used a Black Light to pre-inspect, be sure to heavily fog
those areas you know to be a source of odors).

15.

Set the fogger on the floor, as close as possible to the exit door. Make sure
fogger's nozzle is pointed toward the top corner of the room that is diagonally
across from the exit (the top of the furthest point from the fogger).

16.

Leave the fogger running and exit the room. Check your watch.

17.

When the predetermined number of minutes have passed, open the door and pull
the fogger out (close the door as quickly as possible to keep the deodorizing
chemical contained), switch off the fogger.

Once the size of the room has been determined the whole procedure should take no longer
than 10 to 15 minutes. After treatment, the longer the space can remain closed up the
better. Although the deodorizing chemical should continue to work for approximately 12
hours, 1 to 4 hours should be sufficient for the complete penetration of the deodorizing
fog. Once the fog has penetrated, window and doors can be opened to air out, then room
can be reoccupied.
NOTE: Although ES Odoractant is safe for you and the environment, when fogging, it is
standard practice to wear an approved charcoal filter breathing mask and goggles to
prevent possible mild irritation of eyes, nose or throat.
Once a space, highly saturated with odor has been treated, it should be easily maintained
using a mini fogger, should malodors be reintroduced.
