Microsoft Corp. has acquired LinkedIn Corp. for $26.2 billion making it the largest acquisition in its
history. It is a all cash deal, for $196/share vs. their closing price of $131.08 (64% premium)
Microsoft has a checkered history with acquisitions and paying premium for its acquisitions. It has
recorded write-downs exceeding the $9.4 billion it paid for the handset unit of Nokia Corp. in 2014.
Earlier deals for Skype Technologies and Yammer Inc., designed to bolster Microsofts digital and
social credentials, did little of either. But This deal has potential to rev up the tech titans software
offerings despite recent struggles by both companies.

Online social media platform Twitter Inc. (TWTR) is in talks with the NBA, Major League Soccer
and Time Warner Inc.'s (TWX) cable network Turner Broadcasting to buy the rights to live stream
sporting events. Recently in April, Twitter signed a $10 million deal with the NFL to live stream
ten Thursday night games in the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
Twitter reportedly paid about $10 million for the package, although interestingly, the NFL
admitted that they were not the highest bidder, suggesting that the attractiveness of Twitter's
platform helped them win over the likes of Facebook Inc, Verizon Communications Inc., Yahoo!
Inc. and Amazon.com, Inc. .
From the NFL's perspective, this deal makes perfect sense because the games will still be
broadcasted live on TV five on NBC and five on CBS, as well as a simulcast on NFL Network
they now have two different revenue streams for the same property. At first glance, it seems
like Twitter got off cheap, considering that Yahoo paid $17 million for one game last season and
CBS and NBC each pay $225 million for their broadcast rights. The reason for that discount, is
most of the ad revenue from the broadcasts will still belong to the networks and not Twitter
In June, Twitter officially announced that it was moving towards live streaming of sporting
events and political debates as the company's revenue model continues to lag and consumer
preferences for online content grows. "Video is becoming increasingly central to the real-time
conversations happening on Twitter video tweets on Twitter have increased by over 50% since
the beginning of 2016," said the company in June.
The recent Wimbledon coverage has allowed users to watch matches with a scrolling comments
section alongside the video with feeds from people using the hashtag #Wimbledon. The
coverage was available to both Twitter users and subscribers to the TV network.

You may have heard your mates hunting down Pokmon right from their friends rooms to hostels,
or in their classes, pi-shop, and even in bathrooms. It has been reported that one teenage girl even
found a dead body while looking for Pokmon. And police in Missouri claimed that four suspected
robbers lured in victims with the possibility of Pokmon. What the hell is going on?
Heres whats going on.
Pokemon Go
In simple terms, Pokmon Go uses your phones GPS and clock to detect where and when you are
in the game and make Pokmon "appear" around you (on your phone screen) so you can go and
catch them. As you move around, different and more types of Pokmon will appear depending on
where you are and what time it is. The idea is to encourage you to travel around the real world to
catch Pokmon in the game. (This combination of a game and the real world interacting is known as
"augmented reality..). Pokmon Go is basically an attempt at realizing what fans always wanted

Google Assistant: Googles Assistant AI, which is quite like a chatbot can be expected to
give tough competition to Siri. Google has taken Machine Learning to an all new level with
adding context while answering queries and handling requests. For example, one can ask
about a movie and then about the actors and then make a request to book tickets without
having to mention the name of the movie explicitly. Integration with Nest and Google Cast
is also a possibility google is exploring
Google Home: The customizable bluettoth speaker with built-in Google Assistant is a tough
competition to Amazon Echo. Being integrated with calendar, maps and Gmail, Google
Home has taken the concept of smart houses to an all new level
Duo & Allo: Its a bit creepy but Duo is actually a video calling app that allows you to see
the receiver even before he receives the call. Allo is another amazing application of
Googles expert AI, which is basically a text messaging app that reads into the context and
does things for you the example used at I/O was to make reservations for dinner when
youre discussing plans on the app with your friends.
Daydream VR: With both a hardware and a software initiative, Google has marked its
enttry into the Virtual reality space. Google will allow developers to create their own VR
content and experiences.
Android N: Looks like Android N will stay as Android N as Google has yet to make a call on
the dessert theme name for its new OS. Even though crowdsourcing seems to be Googles
way ahead, the final call stays with Google and wont be decided on the basis of popularity
Android Instant Apps: This idea has been doing rounds for quite some time now amidst
tech-geeks. To counter the problem of having to install and update millions of apps, this
feature allows you to open apps through the browser itself

The initial test goals were simply to ensure that the huge Aquila dronewith a wingspan comparable to
a Boeing 737 and mass more like an automobilecould even get airborne. To minimize its weight,
Aquila doesn't have "traditional landing gear," according to Martin Gomez and Andy Cox of the Aquila
team. "We attached the airplane to a dolly structure using four straps, then accelerated the dolly to
takeoff speed. Once the autopilot sensed that the plane had reached the right speed, the straps were
cut simultaneously by pyrotechnic cable cutters known as 'squibs.

The test also collected data on Aquila's aerodynamic performance at low altitude, its battery and
power usage, and the effectiveness of the autopilot system. Like other autonomous drones, Aquila
can be remotely commanded to fly by GPS waypoints, but all of the actual flying is done by the
autopilot without direct human control. And this flight was the first opportunity to test the
performance of the autopilot on a full-sized drone under real-world atmospheric conditions
This drone by Facebook might take on Google's Project Loon, which aims to use a network of highaltitude balloons to make the internet available to remote parts of the world.
