In ELA this week students


worked to complete their irst
Canvas module. They completed
vocabulary warmups,listenedtoa
student created Voki introducing
the Latina author,SandraCisenros,
and read
the short
story
Eleven.
In this
story the
main
character
re lects
on the
theme of
how
whenyou
are
a
certain age, you still are all of the
younger ages. We discussed the
importance of communication
when something upsets you as
well as how emotions are apartof
beingahuman.
After reading the text, they
participated in a group game
calledRollandResponse.They

took turns answering some


surfacelevel
literary
term
questions as well as re lected on
the main characters choices and
the impact on the plot. After
reviewing the text students used a
new App called Timeline to create
theirownvisualrepresentationsof
the emotional ages the character
discusses in the story. Theyadded
text toselfpersonalconnectionsto
each of the ages. These timelines
should be saved on the camera on
theiriPad.Besuretotakealook!

assessment on the 5 Themes of

This week in science we began
with an introduction to the
process of photosynthesis. In
addition to learning about where
photosynthesis occurs, students
began to explore and understand
the photosynthesis equation. By
midweek,
students
dove
head irst into their irst writing
assignment in science. Students
have been asked to create a
childrens story about the day
photosynthesis ended. After
completing a detailed graphic
organizer,studentsbegancreating

civilization. The students were


challenged to ind cause andeffect
relationships andtoworktogether
as a team to solve the problem.
Were looking forward to digging
deeper into how early agricultural
societies adapted to their
geographytobesuccessful.

Ms.WildhaberMath
Factor and Least Common
Multiple. Students received their
Unit 2 study guide on Wednesday.
It is due on Monday when they
take their Unit 2 test. We also
completed a group exploration
activity where students were able
to makehowtovideosonthemain
conceptsoftheunit.
Nextweek,mathwillcompletely
go online with Canvas. I am super
excited to try more challenging
work with immediate feedback
andgroupsupport.

NOTE: Candy donations are

Geography and Map Skills! Any


students wishing to do test
corrections to improve their grade
are welcometosendmeamessage

wrong and or how they plan to re
learn the material they had not
mastered the irst time around. I
will then unlock a second attempt
for them to demonstrate new
masteryoftheconcepts.
