Introduction
What is Yoga?
Yoga is the physical, mental, and spiritual practices which have been linked to reducing the risk of
cancer, schizophrenia, asthma, and heart disease. Yoga originated in ancient India and was
introduced to the West in the late 19th and early 20th Century. Yoga means to unit and it is to be
practiced through the physical body by practice/asana, it is also practiced through daily interactions
as well as through your thoughts. Pure thoughts and good action towards others is a form of Yoga.
It is important to practice every day to maintain a healthy mind and body. Meditation is often done
as part of the practice. Taking this course will kick start your practice and provide you with the
tools to continue your daily practice.
