AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING TWO (2) NEW EXPERIMENTAL ROUTES: LANIT
{ILOILO RIVER PLAINS SUBD. PHASE I) VIA BUHANG, JARO-SM CITY,
MANDURRIAO, ILOILO CITY AND VICE VERSA AND LANIT (ILOILO RIVER PLAINS
SUBD. PHASE I) VIA UNGKA OTGSI) SM CITY, MANDURRIAO, ILOILO CITY AND
VICE VERSA
Sponsored by Councilor R Leone N. Gerochi, and unanimously co-sponsored
by Councilors Joshua C. Alim, Eduarllo L. Penaredondo, Reytand V. Hervias,
Lady Julie Grace L. Baronda, Jose Efrain G. Trenas Ill, Annand S. Parcon,
Ely A. Estante, Jr., Lyndon V. Acap, Radel F. Agado, Candice Magdalane A.
Tupas, Plaridel C. Nava II and Liezl Joy Zulueta-Salazar
WHEREAS, several infonnal settlers in difference part of lloilo City have been transferred to
subdivision sites in Brgy. Lanit, Jaro, lloilo City and the new location of their homes make it hard for them to
travel or conveniently commute to other parts of lloilo City where the stores, schools and jobs arte located;
WHEREAS, under the General Welfare Clause of the Local Government Code, local government units
shall exercise the powers essential to the promotion of the general welfare as well as to prewserve the comfort
and convenience of their inhabitants;
WHEREAS, Article Ill, Section 458 (5) of Republic Act 7160, otheiwise known as the Local
government Code of 1991, empowers the Sangguniang Panlungsod:

"v. To regulate the use of streets. avenues, alleys, sidewalks, bridges, parks and
other public places and approve the construction, improvement, repair and maintenance of
the same; establish bus and vehicle stops and terminal or regulate the use of the same by
privately owned vehicles which serve the public; regulate garages and the operation of
conveyances for hire, designated stands to be occupied by public vehicles where not in use;
regulafo the putting up of signs. posts, awning and awning posts on streets; provid<> for the
lighting, cleaning and sprinkling of streets and public places;
vi. Regulate traffic on all streets"

WHEREAS, there is a need to establish public utility jeepney routes around the said subdivision sites
where the informal settlers are transferred in order to grant them better access to other parts of lloilo City.
NOW, THEREFORE, let an ordinance be approved and passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of
lloilo City, in session assembled, for the establishments and experimentation of two new routes, as follows
Section 1.- The routes of Lanit, Jaro public utility jeepneys are:
LANIT {ILOILO RIVER PLAINS SUBD. PHASE 1) VIA BUHANG, JARO-SM CITY, MANDURRIAO-ILOILO
CITY AND VICE-VERSA
From point of Origin (Relocation Site); Turn Right to By-Pass Road; Turn Left to
Circumferential Road; Tum Right to Mc Arthur Dnve (Brgy. Buhang) passing NFA; Crossing
the bridge to Simon Ledesma (Jara Small Mar1<et); Turn Left Lopez-Jaena; Tum Right at
Plaza Jara; Turn Left at Plaza Jara (Jaro Cathedral); Turn Left at Castillo; Turn Right at
Commission Civil; Turn Right at Jalandoni Street crossing the Bridge to Bolilao; Turn Right at
B. Aquino Avenue. In going back to Point of Origin; From B. Aquino Avenue (fronting SM City
Megamall); Turn nght to EL 98 crossing the bridge to Jara Big Mar1<et; Tum Right at Jara
Plaza; Left to Castillo; Turn Left Plaza Jara Passing Land Bank of the Philippines; Turn Right
Washington Street; Crossing the Bndge to McArthur Dnve at Tabuc Suba Passing by NFA up
to Buhang; Turn Left upon reaching Circumferential Road; Turn Right Crossing the Bridge to
By-Pass Road; and Turn Left to Point of Origin.

Loading/Unloading Bay. In going back to Point of Ongin; Turn Right at B. Aquino Avenue; UTum fronting Plazuela II; Tum Right EL 98 crossing the Bridge to Jara Big Mar1<et; Tum Right
to Jaro Plaza, Tum Left to Castillo; Tum Left to Jara Plaza passing Land Bank of the
Philippines; Turn Right to Washington Street; Tum Left to Democracia; Tum Left to Simon
Ledesma; Tum Right to Banana Crackers Passing Lopez Jaena St., CPU and Brgy. Sambag;
Tum Right B. Aquino Avenue Passing Ungka (ITGSI); Tum Right upon reaching
Circumferential Road; Tum Left and cross the Bndge to By-Pass Road and Turn Left to Point
of Origin.

Section 2. - The new routes shall be effective for ninety (90) days upon approval and that before the
expiratkln of ninety days, the Committee on Transportation shall hold a public heanng for the purpose of
determining whether or not to make necessary adjustments and also whether or not to make the said routes
penmanent.

Section 3. - The Office of the City Mayor, Office of tho Trnns~ortetitln Management and Traffic
Regulations Office (TMTRO), the LTFRB and the barangay officials of Barangay Lanit, Jara through the
punong barangay shall be furnished a copy of this ordinance for their information and appropriate action.
Section 4. - That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
