REGULATION ORDINANCE NO. 2016-181

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING TWO (2) NEW ROUTES: 1) ILOILO
CITY - MANDURRIAQ (.VIA IABUCAN AND DONATO PISON AVENUE)
AND VICE VERSA AND 2) ILOILO CITY - MANDUBRIAO (.VIA BENIGNO
AQUINO AND DONATO PISON AVENUES) AND VICE VERSA

Joshua C. Alim, Reyland V. Hervias and Rode! F. Agado

WHEREAS, the increasing economic activity in the City of Iloilo ha!!; led to the
establishment of several commercial establishments around the City, and one of such
establishments is the Atria Park District where several restaurants and stores are located
including the nearby Ateneo de Iloilo and the Qualimed Hospital;
WHEREAS, the establishment of said businesses has also created a demand for
public convenience, in traveling to and from the said area;

WHEREAS, under the General Welfare Clause of the Local Government Code, local
government units shall exercise the powers essential to the promotion of the general
welfare, as well as to preservie the comfort and cgnvenien"e of their inhabitants;
WHEREAS, Article lll, Section 458 (5) of Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the
Local Government Code of 1991, empowers the Sangguniang Panlungsod:

"v. To regulate the use of streets, avenues, alleys, sidewalks, bridges,

parks and other public places, and approve the construction, improvement,
repair and maintenance of the same by privately owned vehicles which serve
the public; regulate garages and the operation of conveyances for hire,
designated stands to be occupied by public vehicles when not in use, regulate
the putting of signs, sign posts, awning and awning posts on streets; provide

for the lighting, cleaning and sprinkling ofstrreets and public places;
vi. Regulate traffic on all streets."
WHEREAS, to address the demand for convenience in traveling to this, there is a
need to establish a public utility jeepney route for commuters in order to grant them better
access to hospitals, school, stores and jobs that the Atria Park District offers.

NOW,THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of

ilollo, in session assembled, that
Section 1. - There is hereby established two (2) new routes of lloilo City Mandurriao public utility jeepneys, to wit:
a) ILOILO CITY - MANDURRIAO (YIA TABUCAN AND DONAIO PISON AVENUE
AND VICE VERSA
From Point of Origin (Mandurriao) passing thru R. Mapa Street; Turn left to
Donato Pison Avenue; U-Tum fronting Rotunda passing back thru Donato Pison
Avenue; Turn left at the R. Mapa Street to Molo Plaza and heading to Downtown. In
going back to Point of Origin; From Downtown lloilo Passing thru Molo Plaza; Turn
Right to R. Mapa Street; Turn Right to Donato Pison Avenue; UTurn fronting
Rotunda passing back thru Donato Pison Avenue; Turn Right to R. Mapa Street until
Mandurriao (Point of Origin)
b) ILOILO CITY - MANDURR!AO (YIA BENIGNO AQUINO AND DONAIO PISON
AVENUES) AND VICE VERSA
From Point of Origin (Benigno Aquino Avenue); Tum Right to Donato Pison
Avenue; Turn Left to Rotunda passing thru Tijam Avenue until Atria Terminal; Turn
Right to Narra Drive passing thru Ateneo de lloilo; Turn Right to Avida-Ateneo
junction to Rotunda and Donato Pison Avenue;Turn Right to Benigno Aquino Highways
and vice versa.

Section 2. - The Office of the City Mayor, Office of the Transportation Management
and Traffic Regulation Office (TMRTOO, the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory
Board (LTFRB) and the offices concerned shall be furnished a copy of this ordinance for
their information and appropriate action.
Section 3. - This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
