AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE ROUTE OF lWENTY (20) UNITS OF LEGANES
ILOILO CITY VIA B. AQUINO AVENUE PUBLIC UTILITY JEEPNEYS (PUJ'S) FROM
THEIR POINT OF ORIGIN TO THE ILOILO TERMINAL MARKET SUBJECT FOR
EXPERIMENTATION FOR A PERIOD OF SIXTY (60) DAYS

WEHREAS, presently, the route plied by the Leganes-lloilo City via B. Aquino Avenue PUJ's from
their point of origin in Leganes and upon raaching Iha end of Infante Avenue turns left to Rizal St. and turns
lett at west Avenue anrJ back to the1r point of origin:
WHEREAS, many commuters/vendors from Leganes, Jaro and Diversion Road who intends to go
to the lloilo Terminal Market (Super) tend to ride Leganes-lloilo City via B. Aquino Avenue PUJ's and again
ride another PUJ to reach their destination;
WHEREAS, under the General Welfare Clause of the Local Government Code, local governmenl
unit shall exeri;ise the powers essential to the promotion of the general welfare, as well as to preserve lhe
comfort and convenience of their inhabitants;
WHEREAS, Article Ill, Section 458 (5) of Republic Act 7160 otherwise known as the Local
Government Code of 1991, empowers the Sililgguniang Panlungsod:

'v. To regulate the use of streets, avenues, alleys, sidewalks, bridges, parks and
other public places, and approve the construction, improvement, repair and maintenance
of the same; establish bus and vehicle stops and terminal or regulate the use of the
same by privately owned vehicles whieh serve the pubfie; regulate goroges end the
operalion of. conveyances for hire, designate stand& lo be occupied by public vehicles
when not in use; regulate the putting up of signs, sign posts, owning and owning posts
on streets, provided for the lighting, cleaning and sprinkling of streets and public places,
vi. Regulate traffic on all streets,

WHEREAS, the proposed extension al route ol twenty (20} leganes-lloilo City via B. Aquino
Avenue PUJ's from their point of origin to the lloilo Terminal Markel is expected to provide comfort,
convenience and safety lo the commuters especially to those who commute early in the morning and bring
various agricultural products to the lloilo Tenninal Markel (Super Market).

Section 4. - This Sangunian reserves the nght to immediately tenninate the subject traffic
expenment should it be necessary to do so by reason of worsening traffic conditions particulany at the
Rita!, Ledesma, Jelendoni, De Leon, Fuentes ood lnfoote Streets.
Section 5. - This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
