Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu!
This letter is to inform you that both Grade 3 classes have started their reading
comprehension preparation as of this week. From now onwards, your child will be
completing a language assessment for Reading and/or Writing comprehension every
week. These assessments will be used to evaluate students reading and writing
comprehension skills and will be marked on a weekly basis. With every assessment, we
will be providing necessary feedback that we hope students will utilize to improve or
maintain their quality of reading and writing skills.
During classroom discussions, students were able to distinguish what contributes to
level 4 expectations. Based on their understanding from different language samples, we
as a class came up with a success criteria checklist. This checklist will be posted in the
classroom and will be used as a guide for students to refer to. Please see the attached
success criteria for your reference on the back of this letter.
Through this letter, we also want to indicate that we are taking the necessary measures
now to help your child feel as comfortable and confident when it comes to E.Q.A.O.
However, we cannot do this without your co-operation and assistance. To keep you
aware of your childs performance, each week we will be sending home the assigned
language assessments so that you can assist your child further. Along with the
assessments, you will be receiving sample level 4 answers for each question they
answered, which both you and your child can use to reflect on their knowledge and
understanding.
Our expectations from you, as a parent, are that you review how your child can improve
or maintain level 4 responses. When you have done so, please be sure to sign your
childs assessments on a weekly basis so we are aware of your involvement in the
E.Q.A.O. preparation. If you find that your child is having difficulty despite your efforts,
we will seek ways to assist you both, InshaAllah.
