Cub Cheers: Congratulations to the students in Mrs. Blohms Class,
they did our Friday and Monday Announcements and were fabulous!
Congratulations to the following students for receiving Cox Cub of
the Week: Peyton Gort, Aiden Adams,
Isabella Dizon, Mason Sutherland, Russell Truman,
Ariana Unfried, Carter Baillargeon, Jayda Powell, Jeremiah
Hernandez, Reese Baillargeon, Zachary Bellante, Jackson Riggs,
Bella Palmer, Evelyn Winfree, Makylie Villalovos,
Morgan Nielsen, Austin Kathmann, and Jace Bird. Congratulations to
the following Cox Staff for earning Staff of the Week: Ms. Peters, our
third grade teacher and Mr. Acuna, our PE Asssistant.
PTA Meeting This Week: Please join us for our October PTA meeting this Tuesday at 6 pm in our Art Room (due to the
book fair in the library). As always, children are welcome to attend. Thank you to all the parents for such a huge support for
our Dairy Queen Day last Friday and with the Fun Run! Our Membership Drive is coming up next week, please join our
School PTA!
CCSD Maintenance Notice: This week our campus will be sprayed for pests on the exterior of the building and grounds and
our painting crew will be working before school to paint the exterior strip of our school! If you have questions you may
contact the CCSD department at 702-799-0043.

BOOK FAIR WEEK!


Come and shop for some awesome new books at our school Librarys Book
Fair! The Book Fair will be open before and after school (and throughout the
day when the students attend their Library session).
Week of Respect This Week: This week is Nevadas Week of Respect! Each day we will be conducting various lessons,
activities, and spirit dress days to celebrate the Week of Respect.
Monday: We Respect Our Earth Please wear Green
Tuesday: We Respect Ourselves Please wear a nice outfit
Wednesday: We Respect Other Students Please wear Yellow
Thursday: We Respect the USA Please wear Red, White, and Blue
Friday: We Respect our Teachers and Staff Please wear Blue
Did You Know? Our school already has $15.00 in our School Account at Red Robin on Eastern. Every time you
eat at Red Robin you can show them your school card at a portion of your bill earns our school money! You can
sign up at the restaurant the next time youre dining there! Every little bit helps and so many companies are willing
to support our public schools! Thanks Families and Thanks Red Robin!

Meet Your Assistant Principal (2nd posting): My name is Dr. Christine Clayman, your Assistant Principal. I
am really excited to be at David M. Cox for my fourth year. I love being an administrator because I get to be
involved with all the students especially at lunch recess, in the Lunch Room, and in their classrooms, I am
also the advisor of the International Club that is open to all 3 rd through 5th grade students. I got into
educational administration because it gives me an opportunity to impact a lot more students and be at the
forefront of working with teachers to provide our students an optimal environment for academic and social
success. I know that together well have a Rocking school year!

CCSD Safety Message (Final Posting)

The Clark County School District suggests the following precautionary


measures for parents and their children. Parents are urged to have frank
discussions with their children about the following:
1. Teach your children, regardless of age, their full name, your full
name, their address, and phone number.
2. Explain the dangers of being abducted and/or molested.
3. Explain that private parts of their body should not be touched by
anyone, and if that happens, to report it immediately.
4. Police officers are to be trusted for help; explain that police can
always be identified by their marked car or motorcycle and their
uniform.
5. Emphasize the importance of staying close to a parent, relative, or
friend when away from home.
6. Explain the importance of noticing and remembering identifying
characteristics of strangers, such as their height, hair, eye color,
voice quality, clothes, and unusual marks. Also stress the
importance of remembering the vehicle description, such as color,
size, and license plate number.
7. Stress the importance of protesting and running away if a stranger
tries to take your child/children somewhere.
8. Never accept candy, money, or gifts from strangers.
9. Never go into a garage, shed, or alley with a stranger.
10. Never get into a car with a stranger. If a stranger asks for directions,
be polite but do not go near the vehicle. If a stranger gets out of
his/her vehicle, run away immediately.
