Pattern written in UK terminology
The colour change of the feet is from yellow to lilac.
Materials:
Basic head
Rnd 1: using MC, make a magic circle with 6dc (6)
Rnd 2: 2dc in each dc around (12)
Rnd 3: [1dc in the next dc, 2dc in the next dc] x6 (18)
Rnd 5: [1dc in the next 2dc, 2dc in the next dc] x6 (24)
Rnd 10-14: 1dc in each dc around (36)
Rnd 15: [1dc in the next 4dc, dc2tog] x6 (30)
Stuff the head.
Rnd 18: [1dc in the next dc, dc2tog] x6 (12)
Fasten off leaving a tail, add more stuffing if needed.
Flatten the head by placing it on to a hard surface and
firmly pressing down with your hand.
Double knitting yarn (US light worsted weight:

Australia, 8 ply)
25g Main colour Green, Pink or Blue

Abbreviations:
cm = centimetre
MC= main colour

( ) = number of stitches at the end of the round or row

Not important for this project.
Measurements
Finished height is 11cm approx.
Each piece is worked in continuous rounds (spirals)
unless otherwise stated in the pattern.
Place a stitch marker at the end of the round (move
the stitch marker up after each round)
Green Dinosaur : make all the basic parts using green
as your main colour where MC is stated.
Pink Dinosaur: make all the basic parts using pink as
your main colour where MC is stated.
Blue Dinosaur: make all the basic parts using blue as
your main colour where MC is stated.
Basic nose
Fasten off leaving a tail, stuff the nose.
Basic cheeks (make 2)
Rnd 1: using white, make a magic circle with 6dc (6)
Sl-st the next 2dc, fasten off leaving a tail.
Basic head spikes (make 3)
Rnd 1: using orange, make a magic circle with 6dc (6)
Fasten off leaving a tail, lightly stuff.
Basic body

Stuff the body.
Rnd 15: [1dc in the next dc, dc2tog] x6 (12)

Row 6-20: ch1, turn, 1dc in each dc across (9)
Row 21: ch1, turn, dc2tog, 1dc in the next 5dc, dc2tog

Fasten off leaving a tail.
Basic shell
Rnd 1: using red, make a magic circle with 6dc (6)
Rnd 6: change to white, [1dc in the next dc, 2dc in the
next dc] x9 (27)
Sl-st the next 2dc, fasten off leaving a tail, lightly stuff
the red part of the shell.
Eye template
1: measure the width of 8 stitches across the head
and the height of 9 rounds. Then draw a rectangle
onto a piece of paper using these measurements.
2: mark the centre of the rectangle length ways.
3: draw half of a heart shape in one of the halves.
Basic feet (make 2)

Rnd 1: using yellow, make a magic circle with 6dc (6)
Rnd 3: [2dc in the next 3dc, 1dc in the next 3dc] x2 (18)
Rnd 5: change to orange (lilac), 1dc in each dc around
(18)
Rnd 6: [dc2tog x3, 1dc in the next 3dc] x2(12)
Lightly stuff.
Rnd 7: [dc2tog] x6 (6)
Fasten off leaving a tail, sew up the hole.
Basic tummy patch (begin at the tail end)
Row 1: using white, ch4, start in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc
in the next 3ch (3)
Row 2: ch1, turn, 1dc in the next 3dc (3)
dc, 2dc in the next dc (5)

4: cut the rectangle out and fold in half length ways

down the centre.
5: cut out the half of heart that you drew on one side,
you should now have a heart shape.
6: cut off the point of the heart, you dont need it.
5: glue both templates onto the thin card.

6: cut out the templates when the glue has dried.
Eyes and pupils
1: using the eye template, place onto the white felt
and draw around it.
2: cut out the eyes.
3: (make 2) using the pupil template place it onto the
black felt and draw around it.
4: cut out the pupils.
5: glue or sew the pupils onto the white of the eyes.
Pupil template
1: measure the width of 2 stitches across the head
and the height of 4 rounds.
2: draw a rectangle using these measurements.
3: round off each corner.
4: cut out the pupil.

Assembly
Nose: pin the nose onto the centre of the head 2
rounds up from the open end of the head. (Dont sew
on yet)
Cheeks: pin the cheeks onto the head either side of
the nose with the bottom of the cheeks level with the
bottom of the nose.
Remove the nose, sew around 3 quarters of the cheek
then push some stuffing under it to raise the cheek,
finish off sewing the cheek on.
Tail: sew the tail onto the body 3 rounds up from the
magic circle on the body and covering 5 rounds of the
body.
Tummy patch: pin the tail end of the tummy patch

onto the underneath of the tail and up to the open
end of the body, sew in place.
Nose: pin the nose back onto the head, 2 rounds up

from the open end of the head, covering 7 rounds of
the head and just touching each cheek, sew in place.
Spikes: flatten each spike, pin the first spike onto the
back of the head in the centre and 3 rounds down
from the magic circle of the head and covering 5
rounds of the head, pin the second and third spikes on
directly behind each other.
All three should fit onto the back of the head ( you
may have to move them closer to the magic circle on
the head if your spikes have turned out a bit bigger)

Arms: sew the edge of the arms onto either side of

the body, 3 rounds down from the open end of the
body and covering 4 rounds of the body, the tip of the
arm should overlap onto the tummy patch.
Legs and feet: sew the open end of the leg onto the
orange (lilac) side of the foot, with the leg level with
the bottom of the foot.
Head: sew the open end of the head over the open
end of the body.
Shell: pin the shell onto the back of the body in
between the tail and the last head spike, attach the
shell onto the body by sewing around the colour
change of the shell.
Eyes: glue or sew the eyes onto the head with the
straight edge touching the nose.
Attaching legs: using a length of MC yarn, sew the

legs onto either side of the tummy patch and in line
with the arms.
