should appear on the dongle indicating that it is functioning correctly from a physical point of view.
Run appl_list.exe available in the C:\Program Files\GL Communications Inc\GLDONGLE (or C:\Program Files(x86)\GL
Communications Inc\GLDONGLE) directory and confirm that the following licenses are listed:
PKS164 (MAPS IuPS)
ETH101 (Mobile IP Core)
Run the MAPS-IuPSx64.exe (or MAPS-IuPS.exe for 32 bit PC) executable from the installation CD
Run the MobileIPCorex64.exe (or MobileIPCore.exe for 32 bit PC) executable from the installation CD to install Basic
Server on the PCs
It is recommended to reboot the system after the software installation.

Verification
For functional verification, MAPS IUPS application can be installed on 2 systems, which are connected over LAN. The
following steps explain MAPS IUPS configuration on the PCs to simulate IuPS signaling and Mobile Traffic in UMTS network.
On PC1, MAPS IUPS is configured as RNC (Radio Network Controller), and on PC2, MAPS is configured as SGSN (Serving
GPRS Support Node) nodes generating supported procedure messages.
On PC1, MAPS IuPS (GUI) (SGSN)

Invoke the MAPS-IuPS application. This instance of MAPS is configured for Call Reception
While invoking the first MAPS IuPS instance, verify the following in the Protocol Selection window Protocol Standard is set to UMTS IUPS
Protocol Version to 3GPP
Select Node as SGSN. Click Ok

On the Test Bed Default window, click

and select TestBedDefault configuration file and verify for the settings as below:
The Display Adapter Info option from the Help menu displays all the network adapters available in the system.
Choose and set the Adapter Index value displayed against the IP address in use.
M3UA Termination Type is set to SGP, to handle server association.
Verify that the Traffic option is enabled and the Traffic Type is set to Mobile Traffic
Set SGSN IP Address to Source PC IP address
Set SGSN GTP IP Address to Free IP address (which are not allocated to any systems in the subnet)
SGSN Port is 2904
Set SGSN Point Code to 4.4.4
Set RNC IP address to Destination PC IP address
GTP Port for Traffic is set to 2152
RNC Port to 2905
Set RNC Point Code to 3.3.3
Traffic Type is set to Mobile Traffic

Select Configuration > Incoming Call Handler Configuration from the main menu.
Verify that CallControl_Attach.gls script is set against ATTACH REQUEST, SERVICE REQUEST, DETACH
REQUEST messages.

While invoking the second MAPS IuPS instance, verify the following in the Protocol Selection window Protocol Standard is set to UMTS IUPS
Protocol Version to 3GPP
Select Node as RNC
Click Ok

On the Test Bed Default window, click

and select TestBedDefault and check for the configuration settings as below:
The Display Adapter Info option from the Help menu displays all the network adapters available in the system.
Choose and set the Adapter Index value displayed against the IP address in use.
M3UA Termination Type is set to ASP, to handle client association.
Verify that the Traffic option is enabled and the Server Traffic Type is set to Mobile Traffic
Set RNC IP Address to Source PC IP address
Set RNC GTP IP Address to Free IP address (which are not allocated to any systems in the subnet)
GTP Port for Traffic is set to 2152
RNC Port is 2905
RNC Point Code is 3.3.3
Set SGSN IP address to Destination PC IP address
SGSN Port to 2906
SGSN Point Code is 4.4.4
Server Traffic Type is set to Mobile Traffic Type
From Editor menu -> invoke Profile Editor window and verify the following parameter settings:

Click
and load MS_Profiles file, select MSProfile0001 profile from the left pane. Set Attach Type =
GPRS Attach Type, IMSI, and Mobile Traffic parameter values. Click Save and replace the MS_Profiles file.

Start the test bed on both the PCs

Observe that the Basic Server window is automatically invoked once the testbed is initiated. MAPS connects to the Server to
communicate with the other terminal and to simulate mobile traffic. All the server communication is logged in the console.

Verify that the Link Status is UP (indicated in Green color) from the Reports > Link Status menu before placing the call.
In Call Reception window on both the MAPS instances, SCTP and M3UA scripts are activated.
On MAPS RNC PC, select Emulator > Call Generation from main menu

Troubleshoot

Error: Security Error: Application is not licensed, if you see this error when you run MAPS IuPS it indicates a problem
with either your dongle or license file.
First verify that the dongle is plugged in and the red light is on

To use MAPS 32-bit version use GLDongleLicenseInstaller_x86.exe utility to install licenses

To use MAPS 64-bit version use GLDongleLicenseInstaller_x64.exe utility to install licenses

Navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\GL Communications Inc\GLDONGLE (or C:\Program Files\GL

Communications Inc\GLDONGLE)

Run haspinfohl.exe. Verify that Status is OK and make a note of the Serial #.

Run appl_list.exe. Verify that there is a line in the table reading PKS164 MAPS IuPS with the serial number
you noted above.

Ensure that the Hardware Dongle is plugged to USB 2.0 Port on the PC. One can identify the type of USB port as
shown in the image below.

If the dongle does not appear in haspinfohl.exe, verify that it appears as a USB device in the Windows Device Manager. If it
does not appear even in the device manager, remove the dongle and plug it into a different USB port, preferably one directly
on the motherboard.

Error: Unable to Connect to WCS.Start GL Server. If you see this error, verify if the MobileIpCore basic server is installed
on the PC and also verify if the ETH101 licenses are installed.

Error: Fails to start SCTP Services and associated SCTP Link status is Down, follow the steps below Run MAPS IuPS application as administrator right-click and select Run as Administrator option.
Turn OFF Windows Firewall - navigate to Control Panel > Systems & Security > Windows Firewall, click Turn
Off windows Firewall for all networks.

Error: Unable to create GLIpHandler:Invalid Arguments, if you see this error when you start the Testbed from MAPS
IuPS application it indicates that the Network Adaptor is not configured correctly.
From Help menu -> run Display Adaptor Info and obtain the Adapter Index for the IP address in use, which
has to be appropriately configured in the Testbed.
