3.

Based on the above set of data, identify the variables understudy and for each
variable, determine and calculate the most appropriate measure of central tendency
and following that write your interpretation of the results.

4.

Based on the above set of data, identify the variables understudy and for each
variable, determine and calculate the most appropriate measure of variability and
following that write your interpretation of the results.

5.

Based on the above set of data, calculate the mean for POSTTEST scores, PROC
and CONC separately for the male and female students and compare the means of
the two groups (male and female). Write your interpretation of the results.

c) What can you interpret based on the above calculate statistics?

7. A group committed to quality television has been concerned about a new talk
show. For two weeks, they decide to count the number of words that must be
"bleeped" as too obscene for television and the number of physical altercations.
They hope that after recording this data that they will be able to argue that the
3

show is inappropriate for television, particularly during the day. The data for a
number of words censored is provided below.
342, 267, 321, 157, 331, 349, 254, 166, 132, 289, 201, 229, 198, 401,
391, 285, 165, 367, 393
a)
b)
c)
d)

Construct an appropriate stem and leaf plot of the above data.

Find the Mean, Median, and Mode for the above data.
What does this information tell you about the talk show?
Describe the distribution?
