Preparing Documents
Necessary technical documents include project design documents
and commissioning guide documents.
Project design documents, such as,
Prepare the tools, instruments and meters that are needed during
the commissioning. Make sure that the instruments and meters
are qualified after being calibrated by national metrology departments. The following lists some common tools, instruments/meters and other necessary materials.
Tools: Phillips screwdriver, straight screwdriver, diagonal pliers, sharp-nose pliers, adjustable wrench, electric iron, solder
wires, soldering flux, insulating tape, horizontal ruler, coaxial
self-loop cable, wire stripper, and cable clamp.
Software
Preparation
Prepare software according to the functions and performance required on site. Prepare corresponding software version if IDU software upgrade is needed, to ensure successful commissioning of
microwave equipment and implementation of each function. The
software version used on site must be a released version that
passed all tests.
Checking Configuration
Conditions
Short Description
It is necessary to check whether the equipment meets the entry condition of commissioning before the onesite commissioning and inter-site commissioning.
One-Site
Commissioning
Conditions
Not only the equipment but also the portable computer used for
commissioning need to be checked. The single-station commissioning conditions include:

The power supply is available and the fuse capacity meets the
requirement.
Context
The power supply test includes the inspection before and after
power-on.
Steps
1. Before power-on, check and make sure that the power supply
voltage is normal and the voltage polarity is correct.
2. Check whether the power supply switch of the equipment is in
"OFF" position.
3. Check whether the antenna feeder has been correctly mounted
without error.
4. Check whether the rack grounding, antenna feeder grounding
and the lightning grounding has been properly connected.
5. Power on the equipment as follows: Check and make sure that
the power supply of each module is switched off. Turn the
power supply switch on the power supply cabinet to "ON" position. Turn the power supply switch of the IDU to "ON" position.
6. Check the power supply of IDU as follows: After the power-on
of the equipment, check the status of the IDU. Observe the
power indicator of the IDU, which continuously glows in green
when the IDU works properly.
7. For S500, check the power supply of its fan. The following describes the checking steps in details: After the power-on of the
equipment, the fan module of the IDU starts up automatically.
Place a small paper slip before the slot opening of the fan module. Observe whether the paper slip flutters. If yes, we can
conclude that the fan is running properly.

Steps
1. Obtain the IP address of IDU. The DHCP service of IDU has been
enabled before delivery. Users can obtain the IP address of
the IDU and connect to it through DHCP service. The following
gives the steps of obtaining the IP address of IDU in details:

iv. Input the command ipconfig /all and press Enter. The
IP address of the PC appears in the window, as shown
in Figure 2. For example, the IP address of the local
PC is "10.61.121.120", and the IP address of the IDU is
"10.61.121.249". as shown in Figure 2.

1. Set the frequency of ODU. It is allowed to configure the frequency of two ODUs (1+1 protection type) at the same time.
The interface only shows the configuration of corresponding
ODU when only one ODU is installed. It is unnecessary to configure the other ODU. The following gives the steps of configuring the frequency of ODU.

Testing E1 Cable
Connection
Short Description
Prerequisites
Steps
1. Connect a bit error tester to the E1 port. The bit error tester
shows AIS alarm.
2. Set terminal loopback at corresponding E1 port through WebCIT.
3. Observe the bit error tester, which indicates that the AIS alarm
disappears.
4. Cancel the terminal loopback at the E1 port through Web-CIT.
5. Observe the bit error tester, which reports AIS alarm again.
6. Repeat Step1 to Step 5 to test the other E1 ports one by one.
END OF STEPS
To check whether the transmit power of an ODU is within the specified range, perform the following steps:
Service data has been configured.
1. Choose Quick Setup > Quick Config > ODU, and check the
transmit power of the ODU.
2. Follow-up operations are allowable if the current transmit
power of the ODU is within the specified range. If the transmit
power exceeds the range, reset it to ensure that the transmit
power of the ODU is within the required range.

Testing/Commissioning
Antennas
Short Description
Prerequisites
Steps
The testing/commissioning of antennas is a crucial part of interstation commissioning. The commissioning result directly influences the performance of microwave link between stations.
The weather condition is favorable without rain/snow/fog between two stations during the debugging.
The field conditions and commissioning engineers meet the requirements of working at heights.
15
the antenna tilt until the BNC voltage changes to the maximum
value within the scanning range. Adjust the local antenna to a
position where the voltage at the BNC port is maximum, and
then fix the antenna. Be sure to keep the BNC voltage as the
maximum one while fixing the antenna.
5. Adjust the remote antenna. When the receiving level at the remote end becomes the maximum one, fix the remote antenna.
6. Repeat the above steps 2 to 4 times. And fix the antennas at
both ends when the maximum receiving level at each end is
obtained.
7. Use the multimeter to test the BNC voltage at both ends. Read
the current receive power according to the BNC voltage/RSL
(Received Signal Level) curve of the ODU at each end.
8. Fasten all screws of the antennas.

Q INTERFACE
Steps
The user can verify the availability of E1 service through this test
when there exists E1 service between two stations.
Prerequisites
Steps
17
Prerequisites
Steps
The user can verify whether the engineering order wire (EOW)
function is normal through this test when order wire phones are
available at two stations.
1. Check and make sure that the order wire phone is properly
connected to the equipment for each station.
2. Pick up the phone directly at the local station to dial the order wire phone of the opposite station. The communication
between two stations is normal with clear voice after the opposite end answers the call, which means that the EOW service
function is normal.
END OF STEPS
18
The user can verify whether the 1+1 switching function is normal
through this test when 1+1 protection is configured in the system.
Steps
Through the 24-hour bit error test, the user can verify whether the
equipment can transmit services stably in long term.
The debugging of antennas has been completed.
1. Set terminal loopback at one E1 port on the local equipment
side, and connect a bit error tester to the equipment.
2. Use the bit error test to carry out a 24-hour bit error test.
3. Record the test result. The test result should meet corresponding design requirement.
4. Cancel the loopback set for the bit error text.
5. Test the other E1 ports of the equipment on the local side and
that on the opposite side.
