RAM AIR TURBINE - RAT
RAT FAIL message being caused by incorrect power-up procedure.
RAT FAIL with BATT 1-2 OFF at the same time as IRS ALIGNING.

Incorrect power up with BATT 1 and 2 switches in OFF position, may affect the RAT System PBIT
causing RAT FAIL

Additional information, refer to SNL 170-24-0020/190-24-0014

WARNING
ADVISORY
CAUTION

RAT FAIL during power up in conjunction with REMOTE CB TRIP:

RAT PBIT does not run if the SSPC RAT TEST and/or RAT HEATER are set to the OUT

RAT FAIL will be latched until a successful PBIT is accomplished (requires a new power-up).

Additional information, refer to SNL 170-24-0020/190-24-0014

RAM AIR TURBINE RAT (cont.)

RAT FAIL due to incorrect power-down with GND SVC BUS energized
During the power-down procedure, the correct sequence is:
Set the GPU pushbutton on the electrical control panel to the unlatched position
Set both Batteries switches to OFF
This procedure assures that the whole system is completely de-energized
If the GROUND SERVICE pushbutton on the AC GPU panel (external AC power receptacle or forward
RH monument) is set to the latched position (IN USE lamp is on) before setting the batteries switches
to OFF, the ground service bus will be energized and the SPDA will keep energized. This does not
reset the whole system, thus avoiding a new RAT PBIT when the Batteries and GPU switches are set to
ON again
It is necessary to accomplish the complete aircraft power-down procedure to allow the SPDA to run a
new RAT PBIT
Additional information, refer to SNL 170-24-0020/190-24-0014

RAM AIR TURBINE RAT (cont.)

RAT FAIL due to Electrical Power Transient
In case an electric power source is removed from the EPGDS before the necessary time for NBPT
completion, a power interruption may occurs on the aircraft
Additional information, refer to SNL 170-24-0029/190-24-0023
If this power interruption affects the AC GND SVC bus, the RAT FAIL message will be displayed due to
RAT heater that is fed by this bus

RAM AIR TURBINE RAT (cont.)

RAT FAIL without correlation occurring during aircraft power-up
In the majority of the events a subsequent PD/PU clears the message
When repetitive events are notice, we usually recommends the following T/S (based on FIM TASK 2423-00-810-806A)
RLC
EICC K5 (1S DELAY RELAY)
EICC K6 (TRUEC)
Wiring check (insulation and continuity) - WM 24-23-50 and 24-31-52
K0063
RAT heater element (at RAT) (connector J6CX pins E and F) using a ohmmeter.
The resistance value shall be around 97 ohms. In case an open is found, it indicates an
RAT heater issue and the RAT shall be replaced.

RAM AIR TURBINE RAT (cont.)

RAT FAIL without correlation occurring during aircraft power-up (cont.)
There are some investigations on going specially focusing in aircraft data for uncorrelated faults
(ASCB), RAT PBIT concerning timing, and RLC auxiliary contacts
So far, shop findings of at least 9 contactors (RLC position) are showing the root cause as DROP
VOLTAGE on contacts 12/13 that are link for K5 command (Investigation on going)

INTEGRATED DRIVE GENERATOR - IDG

IDG 1 (2) OFF BUS during engine start
IDG 1 (2) OFF BUS CAS caution message that appears during the engine start and extinguishes after
a few seconds. As the message appears and extinguishes even before the GLC closing, such behavior
does not indicate a real system failure
Additional information, refer to SNL 170-24-0018/190-24-0012
IDG 1 (2) OFF BUS in conjunction with ENG 1 (2) TLA NOT IN IDLE CAS
During the engine shutdown procedure, the correct throttle lever position is IDLE. When the throttle
lever is not in the IDLE position and ENG 1 (2) START/STOP switch has been set to the STOP position,
the respective Generator Control Unit (GCU) senses through the engine rotation that IDG 1 (2) would
still be the primary power source. Then, the IDG 1 (2) OFF BUS CAS message is triggered
Additional information, refer to SNL 170-24-0018/190-24-0012

SPDA SECONDARY POWER DISTRIBUTION ASSEMBLY
SPDA FAIL correlated to Power Supply SPDA1 LRM 1 (20) FAULT or SPDA2 LRM1 (26) FAULT
In each SPDA chassis, there are two microprocessors (MICRO/COMM) that operate in an
active/standby mode and two power supplies modules that are isolated from each other
 Power Supply module 1 (SPDA 1 LRM1 / SPDA2 LRM1) provides power to MICRO/COMM 1 (SPDA 1
LRM8 / SPDA 2 LRM8) respectively
 Power Supply module 2 (SPDA 1 LRM20 / SPDA2 LRM26) provides power to MICRO/COMM 2 (SPDA 1
LRM12 / SPDA 2 LRM12) respectively
Each MICRO/COMM has an independent communications bus to the I/O modules
The SPDA can fully perform with a single power supply and the respective microprocessor operative
Board LED is ON when operational (except MICRO/COMM, one will be ON while the other will be
OFF)
When the SPDA FAIL message is correlated to a power supply module, the MICRO/COMM will show at
the same time. This scenario occurs because each MICRO/COMM is powered by only one power
supply. In case this power supply fails, the MICRO/COMM will fails too

SPDA SECONDARY POWER DISTRIBUTION ASSEMBLY
Maintenance Message SPDA2 LRM7 FAULT
In case the CMC message SPDA2 LRM7 FAULT is ACTIVE on the CMC do the following procedure:
Get access to the OPTIONS CB/SSPC page according to AMM TASK 24-60-00-910-801-A (CB
MENU Screen - MCDU Operation)
Change the configuration (Enable/Disable) for LAV LT AFT2 GSVC SSPC
Check if the CMC message SPDA2 LRM7 FAULT goes to INACTIVE
In case CMC message goes to INACTIVE, keep the SSPC in the selected configuration
In case the CMC message stays ACTIVE, change the SSPC configuration according to
aircraft configuration and follow the FIM procedure TASK 24-61-00-810-807-A
In case the message does not extinguish even after a module swap, and it is not affecting any system,
it is considered spurious
The scenario described above have shown only in the EMBRAER 190/195 and it is under investigation

There were some cases in which the TRU 1 FAIL occurred due to loss of one of the AC phases coming

This maintenance message indicates AETC position different from what is expected
When AC BUS 2 is energized, the AETC is closed, connecting AC BUS 2 to AC ESS BUS
In case the AC BUS 2 is energized but the AC ESS BUS is connected to AC BUS 1, the maintenance

LICC
ACFT Not Accepting AC External Power
LICC internal flat cable (ICA) connects AC external power to EPM
It has been identified that this flat cable may be damaged due to the tracks capacity to be lower than
the interlock circuit pin E/F over current protection threshold, available on the EPM
FIM TASK 24-42-00-810-817-A covers the fault isolation procedure
The immediate solution to this issue is adding a jumper to the interlock trace to increase current
carrying capability, making it more robust
LICC PN 5914480-2 / 341GZ01Y01 S/N A0425 and on have the jumper modification factoryincorporated
LICC PN 5914902-1 / 342GZ01Y00 S/N B0186 and on have the jumper modification factoryincorporated
Modified units are identified with a mark in the MOD 6 (mod dot) on the identification plate
HS SB 40EPS04LC/LC2-24-6 was issued to incorporate this solution when a LICC returns to a
shop repair
