Profession
We believe in our Association, we believe that the time is at hand when such a Medical Society is needed to
offset the influence of Medical nihilism and Drugless healing, by teaching Physicians the definite action of
drugs, by showing what can be accomplished by remedies when given as indicated.
Each remedy presented to our Association must first undergo the crucial test of our members by practical use at
the bedside of the sick. Then if it stands the test, it becomes a part of our Definite Materia Medica. Our
Association thus becomes a "Clearing House" for all remedies that have been tried and tested by its members.
By bringing together the best men of all Schools of Medicine, men who have made their reputation by the
cures they have made, we form a strong body of medical men, a dynamic force whose influence will be felt
wherever the English language is spoken. It is today the "Dreadnaught" of the Medical world, for with us the
word is "Progress;" for us there is no retreat. "Our face is toward the enemy." We don't advertise (as some
Medical Societies do) that this disease or that disease is "incurable." We make it our business to cure it.
When a body of medical men like ours, composed of brainy, ambitious men, concentrate their minds on any
disease to find a cure for it, you may expect results in every case, for what man has done, man may do. There is
practically no limit to human intelligence. For proof of this, note the wonderful discoveries in the arts and
sciences.
We want live men with good red blood, men who want to learn how to do things, men who are ambitious to
lead all others in their profession. Physicians of all Schools are coming into our Association. To such we extend
a cordial, hearty greeting-Come one, come all.
A 36. In hemorrhage, I have found Fe. Phos. 3x to be the remedy when secretions are merely blood-streaked, as
in some cases of Pneumonia and anal troubles. Baptisia, when the hemorrhage takes on a prune-juice character,
as in the second and third stages of Pneumonia and in Typhoid Fever. Lycopus, gives best results where the
hemorrhage is confined to the urinary tract. Atropine at the body orifices. Crude Ca. Phos. held in the mouth
will allow the blood to clot where you can not well use a local styptic. The best remedy for hemorrhage in the
bleeder and in uterine hemorrhage is 40 gtts. Warren's styptic balsam in a glassful of sweetened water. Do not
expect any effect from medicine if the Uterus contains Placental tissue. Clean out the womb and your drug will
act.
A 37. Toothache in children. Child cries when food touches the decayed teeth. Mouth full of rapidly decaying
teeth: Cal. Fluor. 6x. two tablets once in three hours will cure toothache and stop further decay.
A 38. In 1900 there was 105,971 deaths from Pneumonia in the U. S. Study Definite Medication and learn how
to cure it. A reputation for success in the treatment of this disease will add very much to your reputation in any
community.
A 39. Excessive dryness of the mouth in fevers (without thirst) indicates Tr. Nux Mosch 3x. 10 drops once an
hour.
A 40. For that tired headache from worry, study, or shopping give Kali. Phos. 3x. 3 tablets once in two hours.
A 41. Fermentative indigestion, Intestinal Toxemia give Copper Sulphocarbolate gr. 1-24 hourly, after
thoroughly cleansing out the alimentary canal.
A 42. Specific Equisetum in 40 drop doses three or four times a day, gives brilliant results in chronic Cystitis
with Prostatic hypertrophy in the aged.

A 43. Pertussis: Gold and Sodium Chlor. gr. 1 to 2, aqua one ounce. Give ten to twenty drops once in three
hours.
A 44. Specific Caulophyllum 2 drams to water oz.4. Sig: One dram every three hours is a specific for pain in the
calf of the leg. Either in the male or female.
A 45. To ulcerated surfaces, varicose ulcers, and burns as soon as they are clean, apply Scarlet Red Ointment.
A 46. For incipient insanity occurring from the effect of the menopause, wash out the uterus with peroxide of
hydrogen every third day for a few times and witness the restoration of the mental faculties.
A 47. Ammonium Chloride in combination with Apocynum and Chelodonium will clear up any case of
Catarrhal jaundice within ten days. Neutralize the secretions of the stomach as soon as possible as you will
always find it in a condition of hyperacidity.
A 48. I have used the following formula in Diabetes. Mel. with excellent results: Spec. Belladonna one-half
dram, Spec. Lycopus, two ounces, Spec. Cinnamon, three drams, Liq. Potas. Arsen., one dram, Glyconda
(Lloyd's) q. s. ad., eight ounces. Sig: Teaspoonful every three hours for two
weeks, then three times a day.
A 49. Have been uniformly successful in Spinal Irritation with the following plan: Paint with Tr. Iodine entire
length of spine three nights in succession, then skip three, etc. Internally give Spec. Belladonna one drop every
three hours. Also alternate Mg. Phos. 3x two grains every two hours with Ka Ji. Phos. 3x two grains.
A 50. You will get excellent results In Lumbago and other forms of Muscular Rheumatism by giving the
following: Spec. Macrotys two drams. Spec. Gelsemium one-half dram to aqua four ounces. Give teaspoonful
every two hours. Mg. Phos. 3x will also assist in the acuteness of the pains.
A 51. When Labor is progressing slowly and inefficient pains and no instrumental interference necessary, give
Spec. Black Haw 5 drops in water every half hour.
A 52. The pulse indicating Magnesia Phos. is attended by pain in some part of the body or a spasmodic
contraction of some nerve or muscle. As we read the pulse calling for this remedy we get more tension than in
the Veratrum pulse. It gives a feeling of irritability as if the nerves were Irritated, with muscle and nerve
contracted, like a fist doubled up ready to strike. You will find this in chronic cases.
A 53. Remember that a hypodermic injection of Morphine stirs up any latent disease in the system, it will wake
up the sleeping lion. When tempted to relieve pain by this means, stop and think of what you are doing.
A 54. Toothache occurring after sundown and especially about 9 or 10 o'clock, is almost invariably cured by a
dose or two of Chamomilla 12x-30x, alternated every fifteen minutes with Creosotum 12x-30x.
A 55. Herpes Zoster:-Give Zinc. Phos. gr. 1-8th every two or three hours.
A 56. In painful Hemorrhoids and patient refuses operative measures apply a mixture of Spec. Thuja two or
three drams and the same of Spec. Witch Hazel to four ounces of water, to the parts as often as pain is present.
If of recent date give internally Spec. Collinsonia, Spec. With Hazel aa, one dram, water to four ounces.
Teaspoonful every four hours. Will greatly relieve chronic cases, but will not permanently cure them.

A 57. Kali. Bichrom. 3x. three grains every four hours is specific for hoarseness following cold; also the husky
voice of Tubercular Laryngitis.
A 58. The pulse of Aconite is hard, full and quick; the pulse of Fe. Phos. is full and soft.
A 59. Deafness caused by closing up of Eustachian tubes, calls for Mercurius Sol. 3x three grains every three
hours in the acute stage. In chronic cases give Kali. Mur. 6x is the remedy, three tab. lets night and morning.
A 60. When patient gets worse at the seashore the sea air does not agree with them, they need Nat. Mur. 6x,
three grains three times a day.
A 61. Venice turpentine pure for burns: First, second or third degree. Wet a soft cloth with the Venice
turpentine, cover the burn and bandage; let it remain 12 hours and then repeat.
A 62. Spec. Mangifera Indica in 5 to 10 minIm doses every half to two hours controls hemorrhage from Uterus,
intestines, kidneys and bladder quicker and more reliable than any agent I have ever used.
A 63. Assafoetida is a tonic nervine, increases the resistance of the cells to the invasion of germs, useful to
prevent catching cold, especially in the early part of the winter or during an epidemic of grippe. Splendid
remedy for women passing through the Menopause. It brings. comfort and courage to incurables from organic
disease, especially valvular disease of the heart, aneurism, arterio-sclerosis. Slightly constipating, otherwise
apparently harmless. Two grain pill three times a day.
A 64. Attacks of night-mare are generally caused by indigestion. Give five grains of Bromide of Potash at
bedtime. During the daytime give Nux Vomica 2x, three tablets every three hours.
A 65. In Delirium, red face, dilated pupils, fixed savage look, wild, furious and raging, give Belladonna in onefourth drop doses every two hours.
A 66. I do not approve of the use of sweet milk in acute disorders of the Gastrointestinal tract. The casein is a
"bad actor," being especially able to assist in producing abdominal distention, which in Typhoid fever
contributes In a great measure to a fatal termination. Instead, I like fruit-juices and a lactacid milk. By, at least
approximating an aseptic condition of the Intestinal tract proper absorption of nutriment and remedies is
facilitated.
A 67. Urticaria in adults: Capsules of Ichthyol two or three grains every three or four hours, and locallyMenthol grs. 10 to the ounce of water.
A 68. In nervous men or women who have worried a good deal or who have worked hard, over strained the
nerves-Always examine the spine for tender spots. Never give such patients Nux. Vom. or Strych., for if you do
you will make them worse. Bear in mind that Strychnine is a spinal irritant.
A 69. Sweating at night following any acute disease with great prostration calls for Quinine.
A 70. A tender spot over the kidneys painful on pressure, urine dark red-brown, calls for Tr. Solidago VirgaAurea lx, give ten drops every two hours.
A 71. Violent urging to urinate when standing or walking indicates Mg. Phos. 3x, three grains once in two
hours.

A 72. Contraction of the flexor muscles, stiffness of the joints, dull drawing pains in legs, arms, knees or feet as
found in some forms of Rheumatism is an indication for Causticum 3x. Give three tablets once in three hours.
A 73. An ideal treatment for constipation is: Give NuxVom. 2x, three tablets at bedtime, Sulphur lx, three
grains In the morning.
A 74. The direct use for Tartar Emetic ill: Stridulous breathing with difficult respiration seemingly from want of
muscular power, mucus rattling in the bronchial tubes which. can be heard across the room, with, inability to
raise it. This condition found in infancy and in old age. Give the 2x, one grain. every 15 minutes for adults;
children, 3x, one grain every 15 minutes until respiration Is free, then less frequently.
A 75. Patient in low delirium, keeps sliding towards foot of bed; dirty, dry, sticky tongue, streaked brown or
yellow down the center, tongue does not protrude but bows out. Diarrhea, perhaps involuntary, of prune-juice
character and very offensive. Give one drop of Baptisia every two hours; also give Spec. Echinacea, Spec.
Geranium. aa two drams to water three ounces, teaspoonful every two hours. After two days finish the case up
with Double Sulphide until the tongue cleans off.
It isn't the pounds that count--it's the disposition. And that, applies to never so many things; Medical Journals
for instance.
