occasion our instructor gave us a scenario where during a perioperative
situation I had to prepare for a client with hepatitis C. I was able to
critically think about how I would treat this client in terms of infection
control.

situation that we deal with as a nurse. This is related to the competency


G-1-1 because during all levels (peri-post) surgery, critical thinking is
paramount; not only for the client but also for the team that is
providing the care to that client.

I feel my proficiency in this category is between fair to good. I


understand the principles of critical thinking and feel that I even have
an instinct that something must be evaluated further. I still need to
gain the confidence to trust that feeling and the experience needed to
pinpoint what the problem is and how to prevent it from coming to
pass.
