The News
The Black Moon
On September 30, 2016 the people of the Western Hemisphere will
get to see the emergence of the black moon. The only reason they
get recognized is because experiencing two new moons in a month is
a rare occurrence that happens once every two to three years. The
last black moon was in March 2014. This will not happen again until
July 31, 2019. Did you get to see it?
The 4,000-Year-Old Meteorite
On September 10, 2016 a meteorite was found. This meteorite is
more than 30 tons! This could by the second biggest meteorite! This
big thing was unearthed in Campo del Cielo, Argentina. Scientists
say that this meteorite is 4,000 to 6,000 years old! Though finding
two of the worlds largest meteorites in the same area may sound
surprising, Campo del Cielo is well known for its space rocks. While
Campo del Cielo may have the largest number of meteorites in the
world, it is not home to the biggest space rock to ever land on our
planet. That title is held by Hoba, a 66-ton meteorite that was
discovered in Namibia, South Africa, in 1920 by a farmer plowing his
fields. Here is a picture of the new finding:
