As salaamu alaykum,
I want to personally welcome you to Muslim Legal Fund of Americas
inaugural law conference. Weve worked with some of the nations
brightest legal minds to put together an information-packed series of
sessions that will provide you important, practical knowledge on laws
related to various aspects of running your mosques and Islamic
centers.
As you can tell from the schedule, we have a lot of information to
cover. Because we have such an information-packed weekend, it is
vital that everyone arrive to each session early to secure a seat before
the session starts. Presenters will start each session on time.

Weve scheduled short breaks between certain session to give you

time to relax and enjoy refreshments. Meals and refreshments are
included with your conference fee. Hotel guests have a hot breakfast
included with their stay.

Khalil Meek is the executive director of Muslim Legal Fund of
America, which is a charitable legal fund that is leading the
struggle against anti-Muslim injustice in American courtrooms.
Khalil has traveled to hundreds of communities to inform
audiences about constitutional issues impacting Muslims in
America.

Trevor Aaronson is an award-winning investigative journalist

and author of The Terror Factory: Inside the FBIs Manufactured
War on Terrorism. Aaronson is the executive director of Florida
Center for Investigative Reporting and has won the Molly
National Journalism Prize, Data Journalism Award, and John
Jay College/Harry Frank Guggenheim Excellence in Criminal
Justice Reporting Award. He is joining the conference to share
the shocking truth behind FBI sting operations that pressure
law-abiding Muslims into committing crimes -- all in the name of
national security.

Charles Swift
Attorney Charles Swift is the Director of Constitutional Law
Center for Muslims in America, which is funding through a
generous grant from Muslim Legal Fund of America. He is a
retired Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, Judge Advocate Generals Corps, during which time he won Supreme Court
case Hamdan v. Rumsfield for Hamdan. Charles was named one
of the top 100 legal minds in the nation by National Law Review.

Linda Moreno

Linda Moreno is a criminal defense attorney, specializing in

national security, white collar and complex, high profile terrorism cases and jury selection issues. She has served as an expert
on anti-Muslim bias in American jury trials. Linda is an accomplished trial advocate, having tried nearly 200 jury trials across
the United States to verdict. She has taught in trial practice
programs in America and abroad. The actor Wesley Snipes,
Prof. Sami al Arian, and the chairman of the board of the Holy
Land Foundation represent the diversity in her clientele.

Lyric Cabral
Lyric R. Cabral is an award winning filmmaker, producer, and
photojournalist whose work explores the intersections of race,
religion, and surveillance in the post 9-11 world. She is best
known for (T)ERROR, the first film to portray an active FBI counterterrorism sting operation, that won the 2015 Sundance Film
Festival Special Jury Prize for Breakout First Feature and the
2015 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Grand Jury Prize.
She is currently a Women in Film Fellow at the Sundance
Institute, and a documentary filmmaking fellow at the Investigative Fund. Her works has been broadcast on Independent Lens,
BBC Storyville, VICELAND, and National Geographic Channel
UK.

David Felix Sutcliffe

David is a Sundance award winning documentary filmmaker. In

2013, he was included in Filmmaker Magazine's annual list of
"25 New Faces of Independent Film." His first film, ADAMA (PBS,
2011), is an hour-long documentary that explores the story of a
16-year-old Muslim girl growing up in Harlem who was arrested
by the FBI on suspicion of being a potential suicide bomber.
(T)ERROR, co-directed with acclaimed photojournalist Lyric R.
Cabral, is his feature-length documentary debut, and marks the
first time that filmmakers have had access to an active FBI
informant in a domestic counterterrorism investigation.

Shari Crittendon
Attorney Shari Crittendon served as General Counsel for United
Negro College Fund, which is the nations largest minority
education organization and provides operating funds for 37
member historically black colleges and universities as well as
scholarships for students at roughly 900 institutions. Shari is
spearheading CLCMAs nonprofit business legal services
division. Her experience managing compliance and other issues
for UNCF chapters across the nation will prove invaluable to the
American Muslim community.

Jeffrey Grieff

Attorney Jeffrey Grieff's practice is focused on representing

individuals, professionals, closely held companies in business
matters and estate planning including preparing wills and
trusts, gift planning and probate. Jeff advises clients on entity
formation of corporation (S & C types), professional service
corporations, limited liability companies, professional limited
liability companies, general partnerships, limited liability
partnerships, nonprofit corporations, and exempt organizations.

Christina Jump
Attorney Christina A. Jump has focused her career in civil law, at
both the trial and appellate levels. From the beginning of her
legal career, Christys practice has focused primarily on labor
and employment law. Before joining the Constitutional Law
Center for Muslims in America, she represented clients in litigation in bench and jury trials in both state and federal courts. She
has experience with internal investigations, and handled
discrimination charges at the administrative agency level. In
addition, she has conducted extensive internal training for
clients. She is also a certified mediator.

Sehla Ashai

Sehla Ashai is an immigration attorney with a background in

human rights advocacy. She has worked as a federal judicial law
clerk, a labor organizer for taxi drivers in Chicago, a legal aid
attorney for victims of violence, a consultant for relief projects in
post-earthquake Haiti, and a specialist in nonprofit program
development. She is proud to serve on the boards of CHINAR
International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving
the lives of children and families, and Funkar International, a
nonprofit dedicated to supporting folk artists and musicians
from Kashmir.

Marwa Elbially
Attorney Marwa Elbially is the Project Resource Attorney for

Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America. She is
responsible for setting up educational programs and conferences, identifying and cultivating pro bono assistance, coordinating special projects for CLCMA, handling individual cases
and clients, and assisting with writing and research as needed.
Befor joining CLCMA, Marwa was active on issues related to
civil liberties for Muslims and underrepresented groups. As a
volunteer with the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms
(NCPCF), she assisted in the development of an extensive
database of pre-emptively prosecuted defendants and served
as NCPCF Interim Executive Director for a period of time in
2014.

Sam Cole

Attorney Sam Cole is a Research Fellow at Constitutional Law

Center for Muslims in America. Before joining CLCMA, Sam
volunteered with the Innocence Project of Texas and worked as
a Brief Writer for the law firm Cole, Easley, Sciba & Williams. He
has also worked as a volunteer intern with the U.S. Securities
and Exchange Commission. Sam is an experienced legal writer
and has drafted successful briefs in federal and state courts,
including several responses to motions for summary judgment.

Kristine Kruz
Attorney Kristine Cruz is a Research Fellow at Constitutional
Law Center for Muslims in America. Before joining CLCMA,
Kristine accepted a fellowship with the Polaris Project, an
anti-human trafficking organization based in Washington
D.C.She has since worked at Mosaic Family Services, a
Dallas-based non-profit that provides legal services to survivors
of human trafficking and domestic violence, the Consumer
Protection Division of the Texas Attorney Generals Office, and
the District Court for the Northern District of Texas. She also
served as President of the Asian Pacific-Islander American Law
Student Association (APALSA), proud member of the Barristers,
and as a Student Attorney for the Actual Innocence Clinic.

Attorney Leo Yu is a Research Fellow at Constitutional Law

Center for Muslims in America. Before joining CLCMA, Leo
worked for Berry Appleman & Leiden, one of the largest immigration firms in the world. He served as an intern for Honorable
Sally Montgomery at Dallas County Court in the summer of
2014, and he then served as an extern at U.S. District Court for
Northern District in Texas in spring semester of 2015, and he
also worked for City Attorneys Office of McAllen, Texas in the
summer of 2015.

Zainab Khan
Attorney Zainab Khan is a Research Fellow at Constitutional
Law Center for Muslims in America. Before joining CLCMA, she
worked at Children @ Risk, Braumiller Law Group, and the U.S.
Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Texas. She also
externed for Chief Brenda T. Rhoades in the U.S. Bankruptcy
Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Khan is a recipient of the
2015 Texas Young Lawyers Association Diversity Scholarship
and the 2016 North American South Asian Law Students Association Scholarship.

Kameelah Rashad

Kameelah Rashad is the Founder of Muslim Wellness Foundation (MWF). She has almost 15 years experience in psychology
and the mental health field. Kameelah also serves as the
Interfaith Fellow & Muslim Chaplain at the University of Pennsylvania. As Chaplain, Kameelah acts as a counselor and advisor
to the Muslim students on campus and facilitates discussions on
religious identity development and challenges faced by American Muslim youth. She also serves a resource to the wider
UPenn community and administration on Islam and Muslims. In
this role, she also explores the relationship between identity,
faith and mental health; drawing from over a decade of experience in family therapy, addiction, substance abuse treatment,
and managed behavioral healthcare.

Ausaf Farooqi
Attorney Ausaf Farooqi focuses his practice on family law,
estate planning, and probate litigation. Hei has represented
clients in every aspect of family law, including divorce, legal
separation, child custody, child visitation, child support, orders
of protection, annulments, pre- and post-nuptial contracts and
enrollment of foreign divorce judgments. Ausaf also serves on
the Board of Directors for Constitutional Law Center for Muslims
in America.

Ahmed Shaikh

Ahmed Shaikh is a counseling based estate planning attorney

who provides solutions with living trusts, asset protection and
tax planning. He also represents executors, trustees and beneficiaries in estate litigation matters. His is a Certified Specialist in
Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of
California, Board of Legal Specialization.

Kay Guinane
Kay Guinane is a public interest attorney who specializes in the

rights of nonprofit corporations, particularly in the areas of free
speech and the strength and independence of civil society. Her
work to bring down barriers to legitimate work of nonprofits
from ill-advised national security measures includes research,
advocacy, speaking and consulting with NGOs and grantmakers
in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to that she was Director of
Nonprofit Speech Rights at OMB Watch, a Washington, D.C.
based government watchdog organization. As a public interest
lawyer Ms. Guinane has represented a wide variety of nonprofit
organizations, both as an advocate on issues and an advisor on
tax and nonprofit law. Kay also served on the Board of Directors
for Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America.

Prof. Jeffrey Kahn

Jeffrey Kahn joined the SMU Law faculty in Fall 2006. He teaches and writes on American constitutional law, administrative
law, Russian law, human rights, and counterterrorism. His latest
research on U.S. legal topics focuses on the right to travel and
national security law. His most recent book, MRS. SHIPLEY'S
GHOST: THE RIGHT TO TRAVEL AND TERRORIST WATCHLISTS
(University of Michigan Press, 2013, paperback edition 2014),
critically examines the U.S. Government's No Fly List. Among
other publications, his articles have appeared in the UCLA Law
Review, Michigan Law Review, Virginia Journal of International
Law, and the peer-reviewed Journal of National Security Law
and Policy. He has launched a new website, Watchlist Law, a
clearinghouse on the latest news and litigation concerning the
U.S. No Fly List. His blog posts have been featured on Lawfare,
Just Security, and Concurring Opinions.

Asad Rahman
Asad Rahman is an attorney in Dallas, Texas who practices
various fields of law regarding Business and Transactional Law.
In his private practice, he has both advised and represented
business and community organizations on risk management,
corporate liability and contractual obligations. Throughout his
years of community service, he has served on the various
boards and administrations of local Islamic organizations in the
North Texas region.

Tawfiq Morrar
Tawfiq Morrar is an attorney in Sacramento, California who

practices various fields of law regarding Business and Transactional Law. In his private practice, he has both advised and
represented business and community organizations on risk
management, corporate liability and contractual obligations.
Throughout his years of community service, he has served on
the various boards and administrations of local Islamic organizations in the Northern California region.

Hassan Shibly

Attorney Hassan Shibly has has worked with various legal

organizations including Muslim Advocates, National Lawyers
Guild, Erie County Bar Association and Erie County Family
Court, to help develop programs that protect the Civil Rights
of all Americans, and help the American Muslim Community
integrate and contribute to America. Hassan lectures regularly
on issues relating to Islam, American Muslims and Civil Rights.
Hassan has taught courses on Islamic belief, law, history,
spirituality and culture. He actively works with various
inter-faith and social service organizations to assist those in
need and promote cooperation and understanding between
diverse faiths and cultures. Hassan often serves as a consultant on Islam for NGO's, non-profit organizations, government
agencies, media organizations, youth groups, and law
enforcement.

About MLFA
Muslim Legal Fund of America is a charity that funds legal work and
programs to defend Muslims against injustice in American courtrooms, prisons, and communities. Muslim Legal Fund of America is
the only national tax-exempt nonprofit legal fund dedicated to
defending Muslims civil rights and civil liberties in American courtrooms.
The Muslim Legal Fund of America provides funding for cases
impacting the civil rights and liberties of Muslims in America. A charitable legal fund may be a new concept for some donors, but it operates much in the same way a humanitarian aid organization operates. Where humanitarian aid organizations take donations and turn
those funds into food, shelter, education and healthcare, a charitable legal fund turns donations into legal services for select cases
with potential civil liberties impact. This is sometimes referred to as
impact litigation.

The Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America, Inc., is a nonprofit law
center dedicated to defending the civil
liberties and legal rights of Muslims in
American courtrooms and litigating
issues that are important to the Muslim
community.

CLCMA provides representation for

individuals and organizations facing
federal criminal prosecution, immigration removal proceedings, or who have
been denied their constitutional rights
by the federal government, when there
is reason to believe that the action was
based at least in part on the religious
beliefs or the country of origin of the
individual or organization. CLCMA is
also dedicated to preventing future
prosecutions of charitable organizations and/or mosques stemming from
zakat provided to the neediest in the
community. To that end, CLCMA
provides confidential legal advice to
any mosque, organization, or individual
who desires to provide support to
persons outside the United States
regarding the legality of that support.
CLCMA also provides advice and assistance to any person or organization that
has been approached by the FBI or
other Federal law enforcement for
