What are we learning next week?


Math: Chapter 2 - Add & Subtract Whole
Numbers

Subtract multi-digit whole numbers


(vocabulary: minuend, subtrahend)
Subtract multi-digit numbers, when some
digits are zeros.
Checking my progress on multi-digit addition
and subtraction.
Extra practice: create multi-digit addition and
subtraction problems that have regrouping and
borrowing. Emphasize the importance of
accuracy & lining up place values.
Ex: 5,678 + 4,359 and 6,010 - 2,475

Google Classroom will be introduced
and used for students to type their
pieces on Google Docs.

Consonant clusters (th, wh, sh, ph)

Science:
Energy: use evidence to construct an
explanation relating the speed of an object to
the energy of that object.

In the problem 56 - 43, what number is


the minuend? What is the subtrahend?
Solve this problem: 56,842 + 9,469. Show
me how to use estimation to check the
answers reasonableness.
Give me an example of a words with the ch

In your Scholastic News, why is getting a

Tell me why it is important for elk to be

This week, our class will preview the


Book Fair on Monday at 2:00. If you
allow your child to purchase books, our
class shopping time is on Tuesday at
2:00. The Book Fair is also open on
conference nights, if you prefer to
shop with your child.
