9th Inter-School Folk Dance Contest

Guidelines of the Contest
1. The contest consists of two categories: Elementary and Secondary. Both categories are open to all
private and public schools in Cebu City and province whose trainer or PE teacher has attended the
14th Echo Folk Dance Workshop, conducted by the PFDS-Cebu Chapter last July 8-10, 2016.
2. There should only be one entry per dance trainer. A maximum of 2 entries (elementary & secondary)
may be allowed per school however the two entries should have different trainers.
3. The dancers must be bona fide pupils/students of the school they are representing. Furthermore,
school ID or form 137 should be brought during the contest for identification.
4. The
participating
group
will
perform
any
of
the
folk
dances
introduced
in the past Echo Folk Dance Workshops of the PFDS Cebu Chapter since 2003.

5. Each group must consist of 12 to 18 dancers. (Composition may vary depending on the dance.)
6. The duration of each performance shall be 3 to 5 minutes including entrance. A point will be deducted
per exceeding minute from the criterion on performance per judge.
7. The music accompaniment shall either be canned or live. However, those who will use live
accompaniment shall follow appropriateness of musical instrumentations, if not the group will be
advised to use canned music.
8. Props and huge backdrops are strongly discouraged.
9. The participating group shall fill in the registration form provided by the committee and submit the duly
accomplished form together with the requirements stipulated on or before September 3, 2016 to Mrs.
Francita P. Pacana, USC PE Department or Renezar Ferolino, DepEd Cebu City. There shall be a
registration fee of P500.00 per entry.
10. Attendance in the trainers meeting scheduled on September 3, 2016 at 1pm in Abellana National
Dance Hall room 1 is a must.
11. The board of judges shall be selected from among the PFDS Cebu Chapter or National Board of
Directors. The decision of the judges is unappealable.
