Assessment of student learning involves evaluating student progress, strengths, and weaknesses to determine the effectiveness of teaching strategies and improve the learning process. There are several purposes of evaluation, including demonstrating teaching effectiveness and providing performance measures for marketing. Evaluation strategies can include instructor evaluations and product comparisons. Assessment involves testing and interpreting student achievement, while evaluation makes judgements about performance. High-quality assessments rely on teacher-made tests that are balanced and aligned with learning targets to provide formative and summative feedback that can improve education for all students.
