The Issue presented in the documentary:

The media is selling young people the idea that girls and womens
value lies in their youth, beauty, and sexuality and not in their capacity as
leaders. Boys learn that their success is tied to dominance, power, and
aggression. We must value people as human beings, not gendered
stereotypes.
1. We See so much in media, so much negativity towards women in their
weight and how they look and its just a representation of the pressure
we feel to conform mens ideals. Theres this concept of a perfect
woman who looks the certain way and because women may not look
that way theyre scrutinized.- From Ariella, a High School Student
What is the price of perfection, and more importantly, who defines what
perfection is? For a woman, the answer is always the media. Social trends
highlight how media and its ideal image of femininity have impact
women in unprecedented ways. After watching the movie, I couldnt help
but to think about us human who are really not contented of what we
have. Insecurities, thats the exact term. It is quite alarming that people
really need to change their selves, particularly their body, in order to fit in
into the society today.
As for me, those words of Ariella hits me. Theres this time of my life that I
have breakouts on my face, lots of them, and I feel anxious on how I look.
Every time I look into the mirror I always say that Oh gosh this face
horrible, and its really degrading me. I lost self-confidence and feel
insecure to those people who dont have one, especially those actors and
actresses whom I see on TV shows. There is that advertisement of the
media about a product that can help me about my problem. They use
women who do have a soft and scars-free skin and this makes me try that
product. Ive tried a lot of them, from those cheap ones to those with k
price. And believe me, none of them have solve my problem. As of now,
Im using a natural way to cure this problem of mine and I am loving the
effects. There comes a point that I questioned God for having this kind of
face and I regret doing that thing. This is just acnes and pimples, this
doesnt define who I am. We need to accept that life is unfair. That you I
was born this way, you were born that way. Lucky are we to have the
change to live in this world.
I got this realization that we need not to be perfect enough in order to fit
in into society. What we need is to be our authentic self and let other
appreciate us. Just ignore about the media, ignore those artist who are in
the cover of magazines because they are all products of photoshop or
maybe plastic surgeries. Stop comparing ourselves to others, their lies a
beauty in everyone. Its just on you on how appreciate and develop it.

2. EXPLAIN: You can learn more about the media than any other source of

information, so if you wanna understand the what is going on with our

society in the 21stcentury, you
have to understand media.
The media has a lot of connections. From the politics, to those
companies, and also their audiences. The media is so powerful. We
serve to be their market, and they induce behavioral change into
receptive audiences. Powerful that it can go beyond what we expect.
And as stated at the movie, the media is pushing us to be someone
that is not us.
At this time, the famous game Pak Ganern, is really viral. This is all
because of media. So if you were a businessman, of course you need to
consider media as your source of information. This 21st century, media
has become the bridge of a company to its customers. If you were a big
time company, you need to understand the how media works because
this can help you in achieving a higher profit. For a telephone company
for example, before they will release their newest unit of phone they
will use an alibi. They will let media exposed to the public some
rumored design of their new phone. By this way, the company will
know the opinion of the public in order to for them to improve what
needs to be improve. In a company, you need to be updated into what
is happening in the society today thats why you need media in order
for you to competent enough about your product or services you offer.
For us audiences, we really depend on media. On the news, of all those
trends and many more. Learning how media works and what does it
tells us is really necessary. Be an audience that wont settle for just
watching, be audience that is understand what media is really all
about. This is all about our safety and the contentment of life.
B. How did the objectification of women impact employment
preferences?
Today we do have gender equalities. It is said that women can do what
man can do. The objectification of women today is downgrading them.
It makes me think, what will be the mindset of generation and the
generation still unborn? They will have this mindset women are just use
for sex, and doing the household chores. Lets stop this nonsense,
women are do have powers. The powers that I think can change the
world.
The objectification of women do have an impact into employment
preferences. With the image of the women today, some companies
would realize not to employ women because of theyve only got is
beauty, nothing more nothing less. Maybe for some do have the brain,
but with the image of women today, young women would realize that
they just need their outer beauty to be successful. And need not to
study. For other companies they have this qualifications in order to get

the job. Having the beautiful body dont assure you to be a candidate.
So if women have this mindset that outer beauty says it all, then think
again. Beauty dont last forever.
Dont settle for the power of outer beauty. Women, make your move.
Make a women that stand with power of mind, with integrity to show to
world that women can do anything and need not just the beauty in
order to succeed.
3. As a man, how do you feel about being one the reasons why women
are being objectified? Do these kinds of marketing strategies sell to
you? Why or why not?
It is nature of the man to have OHHHH feeling when we see women
on billboards and cover of magazines. Man have their ideal image of
a perfect women with the vital statistics of 36-24-36. The looks may
attract us, but the attitude and the brain makes us stay.
In our history, we have studied that in the past women are termed to
be weak, do have limited rights and many more. But nowadays, you
cant underestimate a women. Women are being objectified because of
men? I dont think so. Our fathers have taught on how to respect
women, as how we respect of our mother. It depends really on the
person. Man may have a different perspective about women. But for
me, women needs to be respected and I believe that can women is as
strong as the man.
All man doesnt have the same taste on women. Yes, we really love this
portrayals of women in magazines but it end up there. We just admiring
but we dont really require our girl to be that perfect. Man need not to
judge women because of not having that perfect body. We never knew
the feeling to be a women. We can disrespect them if we have the
power to give life. The women, specifically of mother, is really brave
enough to carry us for 9 months. To take the risk in order for us to be in
this world.
Those marketing strategies really sell to us. Of course, seeing a sexy
girl in an advertisement make us buy that product, especially on wines
and brandies. Imagine if the one who will portray such advertisement is
a fat woman, do you think the product is going to patronize by the
customers? Its inappropriate.
Every women do have their own definition of beauty. It doesnt mean
that being sexy is beautiful and vice versa being fat is not ugly. What
matters more is the ability, the mind, and the heart. For us man, we
need not a girl that is as sexy as those models of Victorias Secret, we
just need a girl that loves us the way we love them.
