Nursing & Midwifery Shift Break Agreement

Section 10.3 of the Mater Health Services Nurses And Midwives Adults' Women's And
Children's (AWC) Enterprise Agreement 2012 provides that:

Employees must be allowed a break of not less than 10 hours between the
termination of one shift and the commencement of another shift.
A break of not less than 8 hours is substituted for 10 hours where there is agreement
to do so by the employee.
In Kronos, Mater Health Services rostering system, the default shift break will be set
at 10 hours.
Only complete the form below if you wish to nominate an 8 hours break between
shifts.

PLEASE NOTE:
1. Information about the Award provisions relating to On Call, Recall, hours and
overtime, is available on the Mater Intranet (Department, Human Resources,
Industrial Employee Relations, Awards and Agreements).
2. If shift request rostering is utilised, it is the responsibility of Nurse Unit Managers to
ensure that rostering meets award requirements.
3. If you wish to terminate this agreement, please confirm in writing to your
Nurse/Midwifery Unit Manager, who will action accordingly.
