Notlongago,theU.S.governmentexperimentedonAfricanAmericanmalesaictedwithsyphilisduring
theTuskegeeSyphilisStudy(hps://dash.harvard.edu/handle/1/3372911).Duringthestudy,whichranfor40years
from1932to1972,thestudyparticipantsweretoldtheywerereceivingtreatmentfortheircondition.However,they
wereactuallygivenonlyaplacebo,sothatthescientistsinvolvedcouldusethispopulationashumanguineapigsto
monitortheeectsofuntreatedsyphilis.Inthe1960sand1970s,Hispanicwomenwereforciblysterilized
