Preface
Reality TV has experienced magnificent growth over the past decade which has sparkled an
explosion in the production of reality TV shows. GoPro is arguably the most camera companies
in the world in the world today. GoPro has been linked with some of the most powerful videos
seen on social media and television. As indicated by the literature, the use of Go Pros cameras
and have increased exponentially in the recent past. The creativity behind the production of their
camera has been the strength of the organization since its inception. In fact, the
creative/innovative culture has seen the company grow to be the largest company by revenue in
the world. Initiating an employee continuous training program is a vital element for any
organization. In fact, it becomes a top priority for successful firms such as GoPro to implement
employee training sessions. This is because such a program has much impact on the efficiency of
service delivery as well as building higher level of confidence among stakeholders. To a much
bigger extent, it drives the organization towards the realization of the set goals and objectives.
However, the amount of training and support has a direct impact on the intended level of
effectiveness. For GoPro, in this case, the regular program has delivered the best results. This
paper will look to answer the questions of how has GoPro contributed to the development trends
of reality TV shows. Also, this report will look at advantage and disadvantage about the GoPro
as filming equipment used in reality television shows. Also, the technical aspects of GoPro that
makes it appropriate for reality TV filming will be looked at. Finally, this report will keenly look
at the features of reality TV shows that make GoPro the most suitable filming equipment will be
deliberated.

Chapter One: Introduction
Description of research problem
The reality TV and the film industry have over the years experienced improvements in
terms of the type of cameras used in capturing moving images. This has been considered
essential in the development and the eventual success of the industry. One of the camera
equipment that has been outstanding with regard to the development of reality TV industry is the
evolution of GoPro. GoPro camera to the business sector in 2004 and realized another era of
ultracompact cameras intended to be connected to the client's body, and which came to be known
as activity cams. Their key attributes were their little size, their brilliant pictures, and a wideedge, altered central length focal point. This blend has made it much more straightforward to get
astounding subjective shots. GoPro cameras have multiplied each year since they initially
showed up available, and only ten years after the fact represent 33% of offers of all pocket
camcorders.
A huge number of people use GoPro's cameras, and GoPro has found a unique specialty
in an amazingly competitive business sector. Cell phones have been the overwhelming recording
gadget and camera that can nearly do everything in the minimal handheld device. However,
GoPro has figured out how to enter the business sector and make a name for itself. Like any
organization or industry, the dangers to GoPro incorporate developing markets. High item costs
make deals cycles where people spend too much for the thing amid particular seasons, for
example, Christmas. Different dangers include expanded work expenses and crude materials
costs. This would build GoPro's primary concern considerably more and raise its prices much
higher.

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 5

Part of the advantage of this technology is that it is cheap, sturdy, and relatively small
enough such that it can sit on the palm of a hand (Biressi & Nunn 2014). This means that the
camera can be attached to almost anything to facilitate filming at any angle. Furthermore, the
effectiveness of GoPro has also been associated with to ensure the usage and production of high
quality video as which in most cases can be posted on different online platforms without
additional editing (Bobowski 2015). Despite the advantages associated with GoPro with regard
to the quality of video produced the filming equipment also has disadvantages associated with its
operations and ability to produce high quality videos compared to other cameras used in
television production. The comparison arises from the realization that with technological
evolution, the bodies of cameras are increasingly becoming smaller.
Despite the reduction in size, these cameras still need to be in sizes that can accommodate
a larger sensor and mount a high-end cine lenses. This includes inputs for sync, outputs, external
recorders, external monitors, and reference audios. The fact that GoPro is relatively lighter has
raised questions on the steady nature of the films produced. This is based on the realization that it
is necessary for cameras to be built with a bit of weight, which gives the camera operator a
steadier handled shot compared to a small light handled format (Bobowski 2015).
Scope
This research paper will be involved in an in-depth literature review which is aimed at
proving an insight on different aspects that are essential in the development of an understanding
of different aspects of GoPro that make is endless advantageous for reality television. The main
areas of focus will be the features about reality television shows. Under this segment, the
research paper will focus on the technical aspect of reality television show that makes GoPro an
instrumental device in the filming process. The research paper will also focus reality show and

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 6

its development trends. This will be through an analysis of different technical aspects that have
defined reality show in and the contribution of GoPro in the development of the quality of
shows. The research paper will also focus on GoPro technical aspects. This will be essential in
defining and explaining different features that constitute the filming device. The feature of
wearable camera will also be an important aspect in this research paper because it will address
negative and positive aspects of the wearable trait with regard to the quality of video. In an
attempt to provide an effective example of the level of contribution of GoPro with regard to the
reality TV industry, the research paper will analyse a reality TV show, which uses GoPro as a
filming equipment.
Statement of the research questions
Main research question
What is advantage and disadvantage about the GoPro as filming equipment used in reality
television shows?
Research questions
How has GoPro contributed to the development trends of reality TV shows?
What are the features of reality TV shows that make GoPro the most appropriate filming
equipment?
What are the technical aspects of GoPro that makes it appropriate for reality TV filming?
Rationale
GoPro cameras have for a long time been popular in reality television filming. Its
portable nature has made it possible to shoot helicopter shots and slow motions, which are often

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 7

important in filming considering the value they generate with regard to the quality of the film
(Bobowski 2015). This research paper finds it important to focus on GoPro and its relationship
with reality TV shows because most filmmakers have associated GoPro will low production and
low quality with regard to filming. However, with the popularity of the device it has become
more apparent that other than the size of the lenses there need for television. It is important to
note that technological innovations have made GoPro more effective for instance through the
GoPro app it is possible to turn a smartphone into a video village. This is because it allows for
Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows for the change of camera settings and lens adjustments.
Furthermore, its portable and cheap nature has provided an avenue of low cost filming and
editing of footage.

Chapter Two: Research Methodology
Methodology
Existing literature and case study were the main source of material for the success of this
study. Through the literature review process, it was possible for this research to provide a
combination of qualitative and quantitative models that were considered viable in the
development of an understanding of the effect of using GoPro in reality TV production. It is
important to note that the use of existing literature sources was an essential platform that
provided this research with a systematic overview of the existing information and the possibility
of such studies would provide additional information in relation to the need by television
producers and broadcasters to improve on the existing structures of filming (Werner 2015).
Through the systematic overview and comparative analysis of different aspects of GoPro,
it was possible to understand the influence on the approaches that different reality television
stations use to improve on their filming (Werner 2015). This systematic approach focuses on
GoPro assessment from the perspective of its advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, it was
able to provide more information on the sufficient measures and the success associated with the
use of GoPro. Through this approach, the study will quantify both monetary and architectural
and parameters that are associated with GoPro. This will enable the study to provide a sense of
direction to the theory of the development of filming within reality TV especially in providing an
understanding to the techniques that different reality shows have embraced using established
filming structures. In addition, through this approach, the study will also provide an
understanding to the influence of countermeasures that have been instituted to reduce the
negative effects of GoPro. Through an analysis of different literature, the study will also provide
an outlook of the reality TV show's development trend, the feature about reality TV show, GoPro

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 9

technical aspects, and wearable camera. This will be conducted with the objective of answering
research questions.
Qualitative approach
The qualitative approach of collecting data from existing literature will be referring to
classes, reference slots and the considerably the attribute relationships that are essential in the
development of GoPro filming technology. It is important to note that the qualitative approach
provides details to numerous aspects expect the conditional probabilities that cannot be measured
though the qualitative approach (Cleary 2014). Through an extensive literature review of the
works by experts from reality television, will provide an understanding of issues related to the
threat of GoPro technology from the qualitative causal theory that provides support to the
assessment the technological susceptibility (Hellens et al 2014).
To be able to engage in the efficient understanding of practical issues that are related to
the assessment of reality TV filming issues, qualitative approach will provide sufficient tradeoffs between the cost of applying reality TV filming issues and the development of accurate
solutions to the challenges that the industry is currently facing with regard to the use of GoPro.
An extensive engagement in literature provides a perfect platform of identifying the steps
that film experts have been using to ensure that adequate solutions are developed towards the
realization effective measures to curb the disadvantages related to the use of GoPro (Yin 2009).
Quantitative technique
Quantitative data provides a description of the relationships that need to be quantified.
The process of quantifying can be realized through the definition of constructs and variables
(Cleary 2014). Quantitative exploration utilizes strategies embraced from the physical sciences

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 10

that are intended to guarantee objectivity and dependability. These procedures cover the ways
research members have chosen arbitrarily from the study populace in a fair-minded way, the
institutionalized poll or intercession they get and the actual techniques used to test foreordained
theories in regards to the connections between particular variables. The scientist is viewed as
outer to the genuine research, and results are required to be replicable regardless of who leads the
examination.
For instance in the process of collecting data concerning GoPro and their contributory
role in the film industry, the study will seek the definitional relationship of GoPro in the form of
TV filming. The definition will also focus on the skills an individual engaged in reality TV
production must possess to be able to exploit the technicalities needed if the said experts are
involved in the exploitation of GoPro usage. Furthermore, it will also focus on the ability to
understand its limitations. It is important to note that in situations where it will be impossible to
identify relationships from the definition of constructs, practices will be analysed from
probabilistic causal analysis (Comstock & Scharrer 2007). This means that it is necessary for the
study to identify and control all the variables that play a contributory role in influencing the
response variables state.
The search for relevant data from an in-depth engagement of literature was conducted
through an indexing service. This was inclusive of essential sites such as Scopus and Google
Scholar. These sites provided a perfect platform for understanding available information that was
quantifiable (Health & Bryant 2013). In addition, the sites provided studies that contained data
on the relationship specified when using the quantitative approach in collecting data. In the
process of acquiring data relevant to the understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of
GoPro in reality TV shows and it influencing factors, the study also sought assistance from

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 11

secondary data. According to this study, where literature review was unable to find the necessary
data, it was not because of the failure of the researchers. This problem originated from the
difficulty from the perspective of the researcher to quantify the relationship in a manner that
could ease the generalization of selected phenomenon of study (Health & Bryant 2013).
Research questions
What is advantage and disadvantage about the GoPro as filming equipment used in reality
television shows?
How has GoPro contributed to the development trends of reality TV shows?
What are the features of reality TV shows that make GoPro the most appropriate filming
equipment?
What are the technical aspects of GoPro that makes it appropriate for reality TV filming?
According to this study, the answers to these questions can only be acquired through
systematic overview and comparison studies of existing literature that different experts in the
film industry have used as a way of improving on the efficiency of GoPro technology. The ability
of different reality television shows to use the GoPro technology in ways that are targeted at
improving on their efficiency has become instrumental in assessing their profitability with regard
to gaining a dominant position, and higher viewer ratings. The literature review process and the
case study will also play an instrumental role in establishing structures geared towards an
improvement of existing facilities that enhance the quality of videos produced through GoPro
technology.

Chapter 3: Literature Review

How has GoPro contributed to the development trends of reality TV shows?
The reality TV industry has been experiencing developments with regard to the quality of
production and video that emanate from different media outlets. Part of this has been attributed
to technological developments emanating from the use of highly developed technological
cameras (Byrant & Oliver 2016). GoPro for instance has been used in showing how versatile and
powerful user generated can be. There are scholars who have the thought that user generated
content as filtered photos or sharing videos have been said to the most appropriate in sharing
videos and photos with family and friends on different social media outlets (Couldry 2012).
However, technological developments have made this concept out-dated. This is because
majority of reality television have been able to prove that user generated content has the ability
and quality of captivating audiences. The profitability of this technology arises from the
understanding that GoPro is portable and can be used in generating video footage for the slickest
television images making it the centre of online catalogues for majority of reality television
outlets (Dintrone 2014).
Part of the success of GoPro technology emanates from the understanding that it has
become a major inventor in the competitive technological sector. This is because the technology
is not only affordable but also wearable, waterproof, and shockproof which have the ability of
recording high definition quality. With regard to the development of reality television shows,
GoPro has been able to gain popularity because it can be attached to seats especially when
filming close-ups (Edwards 2015).

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 13

What are the features of reality TV shows that make GoPro the most appropriate filming
equipment?
There is considerable variance with regard to the features of reality television shows that
make GoPro cameras highly effective in the production process. For instance, reality television
shows attract real life participants. This is unlike Hollywood films where the participants are
fictional. The popularity of reality television shows emanates from the understanding that they
are used around real people (Essany 2013). Despite this understanding, the need to ensure that
moments are captured as they occur makes it necessary to create characters out of these people.
GoPro cameras enhance this technique since they can be set at any location within the room to
capture images and shots from varieties of angles (Hill 2015).
Reality television shows are also characterized by unscripted performance. This means
that the people in these shows are expected to exemplify their real attributes. However, to ensure
that the show does not lose meaning in terms of its consent, the producers have the responsbility
of deliberately setting up situations (Dintrone 2014). This is often by imposing a narrative
structure on the real-life events. Part of the techniques applied by producers especially when
setting up cameras is deciding on those involved in capturing videos at close range as a method
of documenting the emotional aspect of a specific scenario. This is crucial for the audience and
for the success of the reality television show (Smith & Wood 2015).
Observation serves as an essential attribute that defines reality television shows. While
embracing that which is perceived as intrusive surveillance of the personal lives of the
participants, GoPro cameras have been used in the production of a natural outcome of the culture
of CCTV. Proponents of GoPro cameras have argued that the use of cameras that can be set at

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 14

any angle with the objective of observation makes the production process, and the objective of
reality television shows possible (Hill 2015).
Voyeurism is also an additional feature essential in the definition of reality television
shows. Other than the surveillance attribute, voyeurism allows for the positioning of audience as
peering toms whose pleasure is derived from exhibitionism of the participants. The small size of
the GoPro cameras allows for their setting in places not publically known to the audience (Smith
& Wood 2015). This means that it is possible for the audience to derive voyeuristic pleasure
based on the understanding that the emotions revealed by the participants during the show are
not choreographed but real. If a participant is crying, it is an indication that he or she has been
upset.
Audience participation is one of the unique features of reality television shows. This
means that the fans play an additional role other than been observers. They have the ability of
influencing the outcome of the shows hence playing the role of the producer. Audience
participation is also an essential way through which reality television shows viewers. This means
that it is the responsbility of producers to ensure that the use of versatile cameras such as GoPro
captures various elements of audience participation (Smith & Wood 2015). The ability of reality
television shows to embrace convergent technologies also plays a role in defining the role of
GoPro technology with regard to the production process. This is because such technological
developments play a role in improving on viewer enthusiasm and desire towards the program
(Smith & Wood 2015).
The feature of reality television plays a role in improving the usability of GoPro
technology in filming because of the dynamic nature of the shows and the versatile nature of the

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 15

cameras. By position cameras in places that capture the essence of the show while casing limited
disturbances to the audience and the participants, the use of GoPro cameras has not only been
considered as an essential part of innovation but also an improvement on the role of producers
with regard to quality filming (Taddeo & Dvorak 2012).
What are the technical aspects of GoPro that makes it appropriate for reality TV filming?
When perceived in terms of the technical aspect that make GoPro appropriate or less
appropriate for reality television filming, it is possible to note that this filming device is
characterized by both positive and negative aspects which raises questions of its applicability
with regard to the production of high quality videos. In terms of the advantages of this device,
GoPro is highly portable and this makes it easier to handle especially when dealing with a large
mass of participants. When this advantage is perceived in relation to reality television show
filming, it is possible to note that the use of GoPro has been beneficial to producers because they
can be positioned at different angles within the filming areas hence limiting the need for more
personnel to handle the cameras. This is beneficial because it makes the filming process a
relatively automated work (Smith & Wood 2015).
Compared to other types of cameras, GoPro is not only of high quality but also relatively
cheap. This means that even in situations where cameras develop some form of malfunction, it is
easier for the producers to acquire new ones considering that the buying price in the market is
relatively lower (Smith & Wood 2015).
GoPro cameras have a relatively high resolution, which makes it able to capture images
from a relatively distant range. In filming latitude is important because it ensure that sensor have
the ability of perceiving details in bright lights and in dark shadows. GoPro cameras for instance
have approximately ten steps of attitudes which make them more useful compared to the DSLR

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 16

cameras (Sandt 2015). These cameras have the ability of recording in Log and raw. The former
requires high processing power considering that they are relatively easier to use. The benefit of
this attribute is that it allows GoPro make videos that fit in small SD cards (Sandt 2015).
Despite the advantages that make GoPro appropriate for filming in reality TV shows,
there are also disadvantages of this device with compared to other conventional cameras in the
filming industry. For instance, in terms of image quality, GoPro has been faced with the
accusations that it cannot paint a picture in ways similar to that of bigger cameras. This is based
on the realization that there is more to image quality than 4K resolution (Sandt 2015). The
shortcoming of GoPro arise from limited compression, low bit depth, poor colour subsampling
and noise floor. The fact that GoPro are relatively portable makes them less desirable for
television production because such cameras require bigger sensors and processing powers to
ensure the production of quality footage. On matters regarding the viewpoint of their lenses
GoPro has been considered as inappropriate for reality television filming because the camera
only has one viewpoint. This is unlike conventional movie cameras, which are made such that
when the filmmaker one or any other views he or she can easily swap the lens to acquire a
different one. This is also related to the zooming ability of cameras (Sandt 2015). Unlike the
conventional filming camera, GoPro has relatively low zooming capacity, which makes it
relatively difficult for the camera to capture objects that are relatively far away. For the
producers it is their responsbility to position the cameras nearer to the images to ensure the
acquisition of quality images (Huff 2015).
There are other attributes such as input and outputs, weight and balance, controls and
professional appearance. GoPro has been perceived to be ineffective because it reduced the
control capacity of the film producers with regard to focusing on the image to be captured. In

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 17

conventional filming processes, the camera operator has a lot of control over the camera with
regard to making decisions on how to operate in different conditions (Sandt 2015). This means
that such individual need space on cameras to exercise these controls. There is need for weight
and balancing for video recording, which is relatively foreign for GoPro considering that the
camera can take images single handedly. This has generated argument on the ability of GoPro to
generate steady and clear images especially in reality television production (Huff 2015).

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 18

Chapter 4: Case study
Steve Harvey show is one of the leading and popular American talk and variety shows
that is produced by a collaboration between Endemol USA and NBC Universal Television
Distribution. One of Americas most popular comedian, actor, and radio personality Steve
Harvey hosts the show. Since the debut of its first episode in 2012, the show is currently on its
fourth season with more than about 500 episodes (Kopp & Dawson 2016).
In terms of the filming equipment used in the show to ensure successful production, the
show through its family segments Be a Guest has been able to use GoPro technology which are
secrete installed in the residence and homes of guest as a technique of helping in solving specific
family problems (Kopp & Dawson 2016). Secret installation of these cameras allows the
producers to collect footage that is essential in understanding the problems reported to Steve
Harvey to ensure that they solve the problems based on existing evidence (Kopp & Dawson
2016). Other than family problems, the show also uses the highly versatile and innovative GoPro
cameras in tracking guests sent on dates. This is often aimed at assessing their dating tips and
techniques in relation to those acquired during the show (Kavka 2015).
For Steve Harvey show, the main objective of using these cameras is often to reveal to
the audience events that have contributed to a specific topic in the show. In addition, with GoPro
cameras to capture events as they occur, Steve Harvey show has been able to improve on viewer
enthusiasm, which is crucial in improving on show ratings (Kavka 2015). The show is supposed
to be educative and innovative. This is only considered possible when creative techniques are
incorporated during the production process. Part of these technicalities often involves using
innovation such as GoPro to capture the emotional and real life aspects that define the credibility
of the show (Kopp & Dawson 2016).

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 19

Chapter 5: Introduction of your own research
From the case study on Steve Harvey show, it is notable that reality television is largely
unscripted and operates on a lightly edited style of television programing. This includes ordinary
non-actor individuals who are placed in actual, challenging, live, and sometimes competitive
situations with the objective of realizing the goals of the reality television. The main objective of
incorporating GoPro in filming reality Television shows is to capture elements that are
significantly noticeable from the perspective of the viewer (Kopp & Dawson 2016). This is
because most of the viewers of reality television shows often consider it necessary to capture the
educative, entertaining and the unfortunate events that characterize these shows with the
objective of satisfying their desires. By incorporating GoPro cameras that are largely portable,
reality television has been able to take up a new form of identity, which enables it to ensure a
combination of scripting style programing and documentary style. The documentary style is
considered essential especially with the use of GoPro cameras because it enables easy filtering of
the best elements of scripted television programing while at the same time eliminating the issues
associated with each form of production. An additional benefit of incorporating the highly
versatile and technologically innovative GoPro technology also arises from the structural
management of scripted television since it does not focus on the reproduction of stories but
concentrates on capturing events as they occur hence eliminating any form of exaggerated and
dismal features (Larson 2013).
Documentary and unscripted style programing which facilitates the incorporation GoPro
in filming of reality television is because of its capability of providing space designated for the
participation of both audience and participants. Furthermore, the absence of professional acting,
which informs most of the filming process of reality television, has been considered as major

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 20

cost reducing technique. This does not means that reality television shows are of low quality but
that it is less expensive considering that the producers do not have to create scenes for the sake of
the success of the film (Larson 2013).
The use of GoPro technology as part of reality television programing is essential in its
unscripted form considering that it provides the audience with some form of unpredictable
source of entertainment. By placing people in artificially simulated environments characterized
by hidden and appropriately positioned GoPro cameras, the producers have the ability of
displaying the instinctive behaviour of the participants and this is considered crucial for the
success of the shows. This is unlike conventional television production cameras, which may act
as a source of intimidation for the audience, and the participants making it more choreographed
that unscripted. Revealing liveliness is not the only aspect that GoPro cameras attempt to
demonstrate while filming reality television shows (Lough 2015). Other elements characterize
highly emotional scenarios of different individuals driven with the objectives of relaxing the
intended goal of the programs. It is notable that the existence of elements that may limit the
ability of such emotions from being expressed necessitates the need of incorporating different
elements such as hidden and versatile GoPro cameras. These enhance the possibility that the
participants will be comfortable with regard to expressing their emotions concerning a particular
topic of aspect of interest throughout the program (Murray et al 2012).
Limitations and Drawback on using GoPro camera in reality shows
Despite the fact that the utilization of GoPro cameras has been well known in the generation of
unscripted tv and activity sports showcases, the free filmmaking group has totally disregarded
the GoPro camera. While catching airborne, movement and submerged shots may have already

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 21

been restricted to proficient film groups with particular hardware.it is important to understand
that GoPro cameras can be utilized by creators of low-spending recordings to expand the
innovative potential outcomes and visual dialect of their video preparations. Another drawback
on using GoPro camera in reality shows is

Chapter 6: Research work in relation to literature review

Through the incorporation of GoPro technology in the production of reality television
shows, it has become possible to use the technology in the demonstration of real emotions that
flow through real individuals especially when they are positioned in artificially constructed
environments (Mersey 2014). Furthermore, through this technology it has also become possible
for reality television shows such as Steve Harvey show to operate in an environment that
supports techniques of addressing reality television issues (Lough 2015). This means that
through the incorporation of GoPro technology it has become possible for producers to design
reality television shows in ways that influence the behaviour of the views without the possibility
of any form of intimidation. Through the use of shows such as Steve Harvey show where daily
life drama is combined with comedy and legal issues with the objective of somewhat attempting
to train the audience, viewers and participants into being law abiding citizens of the country by
embracing self-discipline as an integral component of their wellbeing.
An additional aspect of GoPro technology that makes it prudent for filming reality
television shows emanates from the understanding that it provides the producers with an
opportunity of engaging versatile and latest technology in the production process (Lough 2015).
This is crucial because it not only enhances the nature of the resulting technology but also
improves on the quality of the work of producers with regard to the production process. It is

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 22

factual that GoPro technology may not be as highly sophisticated in terms of lens and sensor
capacity but they are highly productive with regard to the production of films at different angles
without the possibility of intimidating the audience with highly sophisticated materials. In
addition, the fact that they can be positioned in hidden areas of the room also provides the
producers with an opportunity of capturing the most essential aspects of human behaviour, which
is critical for the success of reality television shows (Lough 2015).

GoPro Cameras in reality Television Production 23

Chapter 7: Findings/Conclusion
Part of the success of GoPro technology emanates from the understanding that it has
become a major inventor in the competitive technological sector. This is because the technology
is not only affordable but also wearable, waterproof, and shockproof which have the ability of
recording high definition quality.
GoPro for instance has been used in showing how versatile and powerful user generated
can be. There are scholars who have the thought that use generated content as filtered photos or
sharing videos have been said to the most appropriate in sharing videos and photos with family
and friends on different social media outlets.
Documentary and unscripted style programing which facilitates the incorporation GoPro
in filming of reality television can be attributed to its capability to provide space designated for
the participation of both audience and participants. Furthermore, the absence of professional
acting, which informs most of the filming process of reality television, has been considered as
major cost reducing technique.
In terms of shortcomings, GoPro has disadvantages associated with its operations and
ability to produce high quality videos compared to other cameras used in television production.
The comparison arises from the realization that with technological evolution, the bodies of
cameras are increasingly becoming smaller hence housing low quality lenses despite high
resolution.
