Hard work, consistency and a positive attitude is the prime catalyst for success - So
says Mr. Md. Golam Kibria, the high achiever of P1 for the session of December
2015:
"Well, I would love to share my tips, tricks and approach to the exam and also the
significance to overcome the exam fright.
Firstly, about the tips, well its only practice which can give a candidate the most

important tips for the exam. All ACCA papers especially those which are professional
level papers are mostly based on practical issues. So when a candidate sits for the
paper he/she needs to apply the relevant knowledge into the question during the
exam rather than simply trying to write down the rote knowledge. When candidates
are practicing, I would recommend them to think on that particular matter first and
then go for writing into the exercise booklet. A lot of practicing past papers will give
the best idea of the exam nature.
Now about the tricks and approaches to the exam, well its the question verbs which
MUST be carefully read and understood! Actually we get around 1 minute and 48
seconds available for one mark. So I would suggest investing 48 seconds if
necessary to plan and then write the relevant point concisely within 1 minute. Only
a good investment with adequate plan can give us the best return. Then candidate
needs to understand the question nature i.e. whether the question is asking about
any single issue or more than an issue. Its highly essential to understand otherwise
he/she would think that the whole 100 marks were answered but unfortunately
which they did not! Moreover covering the whole syllabus is compulsory. I am very
happy that I had a teacher who taught me how to think complex issues. However,
ACCA website is the most resourceful website for an ACCA student, I have ever
seen. All the information a candidate needs to know are available there. So I would
suggest checking the website regularly.
Exams are simply tests. As long as candidates are well prepared, no need to worry
about what will happen. Simply drinking half a glass of water and then sitting for the
exam is a good practice. Moreover, its good if candidate can make use of chocolate
as it will give their brain some glucose which is important for exam. Its good to
make mistakes at home rather than in the final exam. Therefore, again, practice is
essential. I would also suggest candidates to sleep at least 8 hours before the exam
day and if possible to stay calm before the exam as it will help them for sure I hope.
These are all from my personal experience and I hope these will help most of the
candidates."
