2. Differentiate the three with a basis/ provision (treaty, executive agreement,

conventions)
According to article 2 (1)(a) of the VCLT (Vienna convention on the law of treaties) defines a
treaty as: a treaty is an international agreement concluded between states in a written form
and governed by international law. Whether embodied in a single instrument or in a two or
more related instrument and whatever its particular designation. While on the other hand
executive agreements it does not need or require legislative concurrence (section 2 of article
VII). Conventions is a general term which comprehends all kinds of contracts, treaties, pacts
or agreements. It is defined to be the consent of two or more persons to form with each other
an engagement or to dissolve or change one which they had previously formed.
3. Define General Accepted Principle of laws. Provide examples.

When there is no provision in an international treaty or statute nor any recognized customary
principle of international laws available for application in an international dispute the general
principles of laws can be used to fill the gap.
