Authors Warranty and Copyright Assignment Form
This Agreement is made with the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. The Agreement is for
the Article (the Article) submitted by you (the Author) for publication in Hesperia, the journal of the
American School of Classical Studies at Athens.
To enable the American School of Classical Studies at Athens to publish the Article in Hesperia (the
Journal), the ownership of copyright must be established. Please read and complete the form below
(Sections A and B) and return one copy to the address given below.
SECTION A: Authors Warranty

In consideration of the publication of the Article in the above Journal, I hereby warrant and undertake:
(a) that this Article is an original work, has not been published before, and is not being considered for
publication elsewhere in its final form either in printed or electronic form;
(b) that I have obtained permission from the copyright holder to reproduce in the Article (in all media
including print and electronic form) material not owned by me, and that I have acknowledged the source,
using, whenever relevant, the precise wording specified by the copyright holder;
(c) that this Article contains no violation of any existing copyright or other third party right or any
material of an obscene, indecent, libelous or otherwise unlawful nature, and that to the best of my
knowledge this Article does not infringe upon the rights of others;
(d) that I will indemnify and keep indemnified the Editor of Hesperia, and the American School of
Classical Studies at Athens, against all claims and expenses (including legal costs and expenses) arising
from any breach of this warranty and the other warranties on my behalf in this Agreement;
(e) that this Article does not knowingly announce or provide the initial scholarly presentation of any
article acquired after December 30, 1970, by any means other than through an officially sanctioned
excavation or survey, unless the object was part of a previously existing collection or was legally
exported from the country of origin;
(f) that in the case of a multiauthored Article I have obtained copyright assignment from all coauthors and
authorization to enter into this Agreement on their behalf and that all coauthors have read and agreed the
above warranties.

SECTION B: Copyright Assignment


In consideration of the publication of the Article in the Journal, I hereby assign to the American School of
Classical Studies at Athens, during the full term of copyright and any extensions or renewals of that term,
all copyright in and to the Article. This assignment includes the right to reproduce and publish the Article
throughout the world in all formats and media in existence or subsequently developed.
I understand that I remain free to use the Article for the internal educational or other purposes of my own
institution, to post it on my own or my institutions website, or to use it as the basis for my own further
publication or spoken presentations, as long as I do not use the Article in any way that would conflict
directly with the American Schools commercial interests and provided any use includes the normal
acknowledgement to the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and a link to the Journals
official electronic version. On request the Editor of Hesperia will supply a printable PDF of the published
Article.
