Executive Summary
Kidapawan city has an area of 340sq.km with 40 barangays, and a population of 125,447 as of 2010. It is
located at the southeastern portion of the Cotabato province and almost midway between the cities of
Davao and Cotabato at a distance of 112 and 126 kilometers respectively.
The proposed project - Kidapawan Eco-tourism Corridor seeks to develop identified areas by inviting
potential investors to establish and operate nature theme parks, gaming and entertainment/amusement
centers in the citys 7 barangays, namely: Ilomavis, Balabag, Perez, Indangan, Ginatilan, Mua-an, and
Meohao. This will involve the following: hotels, spas, cable cars, swimming pools, etc.
By offering these areas to investors, The city will have the following components under the project: Lake
Agco and Mandarangan Hot Spring (3.957 ft. asl) ; Kansal Falls at Brgy. Perez; Mawig Falls at Brgy.
Balabag and Indangan Falls at Brgy. Indangan; the three (3) major rivers which are the Saguing, Marbol,
and Mati-ao River; its rich Tribal Culture; Mt. Apo Trekking/ Climbing; River Trekking; Mountain and Trail
Biking; Wall Climbing/Rappelling; Tree Top Walk/ Canopy Walk; Horse Riding and Quad Cycle Tours; and,
Adventure/Health and Wellness Resorts.
The major Industries in the Kidapawan are Banana, Rubber, Coconut, Fruits, Vegetables, Sugarcane,
Geothermal Energy and Tourism. It is the service center of 8 municipalities, due to the accessibility of its
hotels, resorts and restaurants, schools and institutions. It is also a major agricultural producer, has
efficient communication lines, sufficient health facilities, and the availability of shopping mal ls, not to
mention the presence of a Central Mindanao Airport in Mlang, which is only a 40-minute drive from the
city, and which is soon to be operational. Tourist arrivals have continued to increase, from 40,365 in 2012
to 43,805 in 2013. The 1 st quarter of 2014 alone generated 40,365 visitors to the city.

Project
Description
The first priority areas for investment are the titled lands, Certificate of
Ancestral Domain Claims (CADC), and Certificate of Ancestral Domain
Titles (CADT). Through this project, the LGU aims to promote strong
adherence to sustainable eco-tourism. Theme park, gaming and
entertainment are also b eing promoted to investors. Modes of entry
could either be through Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), Build-OperateOwn (BOO), or through a Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) with the
land as counterpart of the local government.

Expected Barriers/Problems
The areas to be developed were already surveyed, consultations have
been done with the private sector and the community, coordination with
other concerned agencies (MKWD, DENR, NCIP, LGU-Makilala) are
ongoing. Thus, the only problem that might be encountered during
implementation would be unfavorable weather conditions.
