Statement of Purpose
I am pleased for having an opportunity to present my statement of purpose related to my
postgraduate study at your esteemed institution. I aim to outline how and why I consider
myself a suitable candidate for a place in the PHD programme offered by University of
Central Lancashire, a course and an institution I very much wish to be a part of.
I am currently in the process of completing MBA in International Business from Coventry
University. I presently hold an unassailable First Division in my undergraduate course and the
expected final result in my MBA is, in all likelihood, to remain the same.
My keen interest in joining the PHD programme as a continuation of my own personal and
professional development following the completion of my MBA from Coventry University in
April 2016 stems from my instinctive belief and hitherto gathered knowledge and experience
that these are the predominant areas in the global economy where development is most likely
to continue in the foreseeable future and having significant wealth of academic and analytical
expertise in these areas can only lead to great professional achievements.
Eminence of University of Central Lancashire, in respect of PHD programme, is recognised
throughout the realms of academia and the teaching as well as the facilities offered are greatly
admired by the past students and faculty members, something, I am certain, extends to other
programmes offered by the institution. Furthermore, it is my view that adaptability, creative
thinking and the application of new management doctrines are now intrinsic to managing
businesses and, it is considered understanding that these aspects of the business are given
greater priority at the teaching of this institution. My qualifications will enable to pursue the
programme from an internationalist point of view instead of the narrower confines of
nationalist or regionalist approach.

As to why this is my specific target topic, I choose the course PHD because this course will
help me develop my key research skills like research skills, leadership skill, critical decision
making, organisational transformation, and innovation. In addition, I would like to point out
that there is a rapid growth in business research concepts and markets, crystallised in
contemporary management philosophies, and there is significant pressure on this industry to
be as effective as possible in the most efficient way. Central to these philosophies is the
greater understanding and effective implementation of management theories and policies.
This need to maximise efficiency and effectiveness in such a competitive age is increasingly
crucial to the success of a business. Moreover, it is my view that this course will equip me to
manage critical and complex organisational issues in a challenging and changing microclimate.
In the near future, if I am armoured with MBA and PHD qualifications, I imagine myself
possessing my own research institute and establishing a unique brand with high reputation.
Such an ambitious goal requires not only strong determination but also comprehensive
understanding, and I believe that the PHD programme can contribute to the development of
that understanding.
I believe I have the requisite credentials, skills and self-belief to do well in this course and
take the learning into the professional life. I earnestly hope my keen academic and
professional interest, as outlined above, in the programme is accordingly registered and I
shall be eagerly waiting for your kind response.
