best practices, followed government regulations, trained personnel to changing
technical development. Core business is depending on human values, regardless to
its Clients, GS hold them in esteem & hesitate not, to offer all possible protection
through EHS. Comparing to the quantum of work in the past, recently, GS ac-
claimed good name in the heart of prestigious Client like KNPC, KOC, KPPC, SK En-
gineering. To maintain good standard & reputation among its Customers, GS
strives hard to fulfill their aspirations in all possible ways. Constantly, GS changes
its strategy and devise new technique as the situation warranted, to improve the
existing EHS MS. Of late, GS opened its door to a third party EHS Auditing. A well
reputed International Non-profitable Organization viz. British Safety Council which
has an enormous network of companies from all kind of business throughout the
world & stands vouches for preventing accident in Industrial activities and ensures
EHS to all its personnel through various means, audited GS against their FIVE
STAR AUDIT SYSTEM. No Company in Kuwait has, so far, done this kind of unpar-
alleled work in EHS. This speaks of GS commitment to hold EHS high & improve its
system. To standardize issue of PPE to its various Project personnel, very recently,
GS made a base-line and ensures all kind of PPE without fail. Its an another impor-

such as Man-hours without LTI, Number of meetings / audits / inspections / viola-

For the year 2007-8, the LTIF = 0.04314 . It speaks of EHS Performance . We
continue to work with negligible risk rate for the year to come also. Moreover, EHS
Performance is, periodically, reviewed with Client’s key personnel & strategies are
aimed at. We appreciate the workforce for contributing their bests to achieve these
kind of performance in the operations. Clearly, it shows their involvement & com-
mitment to do operations very safely.

As a means to introduce BBS (Behavior Based Safety) , GS issued 3NB booklet

( No Name and No Blame) and encouraged them to submit. Men behind the machine
contribute much to safe operation. Hence, GS attached paramount importance to
modify their behavior through 3NB study. SOLAR observations are made in every 15
days & findings are rectified. Data so collected are reviewed, once, in a quarter and
shared with workforce anonymously.

Emergency occurs any moment in operations. Depending upon its size, the se-
verity increases the loss either in man-power, materials or environment. It is,
therefore, necessary to control it in time. To contain any emergency that surfaces
during the operation, we need to have trained personnel and adequate equipment.
Keeping this in mind, simulated emergency scenario is portrayed, periodically, and
response procedures are initiated to evaluate their alertness to cope with any emer-
gency. Often, Client’s key personnel supervise the initiation of ERP and make any
comments for improvement & records it.

GS imparts craft oriented EHS courses such as First Aid, Scaffolding, Working
at Height, Fall protection, Safe Rigging operations through approved Institutions in
Kuwait( Red Crescent, Velosi, SKE, ABS etc.). To keep abreast of various standards,
safe practices, procedures GS organizes monthly HSE program within the resources
for it’s EHS Staff . 100% Induction training to all personnel working in projects are
given. Moreover, to make communication effective, monthly & weekly EHS meetings
are organized. These meetings are, very specifically attended by Senior Managers
and General Manager (Project). As part of LOWER / POWER , third party certifica-
tions are issued by either ABS or DNV, Kuwait. To ensure that the residual risk is at
acceptable level, for all major jobs, a Risk Register is prepared & is approved , par-
ticularly , by Client.
