I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this Interactive Activity, you must be able to:
1. Derive Newtons Laws of Motion out of the Interactive Simulations:
a. Motion (frictionless system)
b. Net Force
c. Friction
d. Acceleration
2. By means of observations made on each simulation, prove and cite the relationship that exists among:
a. The Law of Inertia: Mass vs Inertia
b. The Law of Acceleration: Force, mass & acceleration
c. The Law of Interaction in a Tug-O-War: Force TEAM A vs. Force TEAM B
II. PROCEDURES:
A. About the Interactive:
1. Go to: Forces and Motion: Basics https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/forces-and-motion-basics/latest/forces-andmotion-basics_en.html.
2. There are 3 major parts of the Interactives or Learning Stations that you are going to explore, namely: (a) Motion; (b)
Friction and Acceleration; and (c) FNet and Acceleration. In each Learning Station, explore first how the Interactive
works. Be guided by the icons and buttons for accurate observations and data gathering.
3. Perform procedures set in each part and then record major observations and data gathered using the spaces and Table
of Data provided.
4. Then analyze and evaluate your learnings gained in EACH LEARNING STATION by: (a) answering the questions set; and
also (b) constructing a Table of Analysis similar below. A Sample Analysis Table is also shown below. You are free to
add some more details /descriptions as you deem necessary.
5. You may have this report printed / computerized. For the Class Discussion, be prepared with a hardcopy on Monday,
Oct. 3 (for 10-1 & 10-3); on Tuesday, Oct. 4 (for 10-5).
B. Discovering Newtons Laws Using the Interactive Laboratory Stations:

(1) Motion

a) Open the motion tab and set the force to 50N. Observe the change in speed of the cart as recorded

Newtons 3rd Law of Motion:
