F Scott Fitzgeralds the Great Gatsby is an eloquent novel that portrays

the conflict when the lives of people from two opposing ends of Long Island
the East and the West Egg intertwine along with all their values and morals
that lead to the demise of what could have been a great love. The East and
the West Egg are polar opposites in every particular except shape and size
as they represent two very different societies that think very differently and
as a result view the world contrastingly. Gatsby who lives in the West Egg,
which belongs to a class of newly rich people, attempts to gain the heart of
Daisy, who belongs to the aristocratic rich class of the East Egg. However,
Fitzgerald develops them into star crossed lovers because in the end they
can never be together because of their differences. Through the contrast of
the East Egg and the West Egg, only separated by the bay and the dim green
light at the other end of it, Fitzgerald is able to explore the idea of wealth and
the internal corruption of the mind and heart that accompanies it
Tom and Daisy are fundamentally different people and that is shown
through where they live. The people of the East Egg such as Daisy are born
rich and so are fashionable, well mannered, graceful and their actions are
full of ease. These people do not care about the feelings of others because
their immense wealth allows them to ignore it and look the other way. They
were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures
and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or
whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the
mess they had made. These people look down on the people of West Egg,
as they think they are superior to them and have more class. The people of
West Egg are those that have newly acquired their money and are still
making a name for themselves. Although the less fashionable of the two,
the people are characterized as hard working, eccentric and caring. Gatsby
had to work all the way up to his wealth as he was born to a poor family and
his imagination had never really accepted his poverty. Nick describes
Gatsbys smiles as one of those rare smiles with an eternal reassurance in
it...with an irresistible prejudice in your favour and had something
gorgeous about him. This shows him as a kind and empathetic character
which is why he is the great Gatsby. This kindness and warmness is not seen
in the wealthy people of East Egg. Fitzgerald shows through the contrast of
the East Egg and the West Egg that Gatsby will never become someone that
Daisy will want no matter how wealthy he becomes.
Fitzgerald strategically places the East Egg and West Egg exactly
opposite of each other between a bay. This symbolizes how close they are, as
Gatsby is able to see Daisys mansion from his side of the bay yet they are
still separated by a body of water. This parallels Gatsby and Daisys love.
Although they are so close to each other and have the same feelings for
each other, they cannot be together. The love can be seen but never brought

together just as the East Egg and the West Egg can be seen from both sides
of the bay but can never be seen as equals. Gatsby bought that house so
that Daisy would be just across the bay." Buying a house right across from
the harbour of Daisys house shows that Gatsby wanted Daisy to see that he
is at the same level as tom. Daisy was his goal what he wanted to acquire,
so by putting himself right across her harbour where she can see him, he
makes his goal reachable, yet it is still a whole body of water away. Gatsby
would need to walk on water to cross the bay to where Daisy is This shows
that it would take a miracle for Gatsby, in the West Egg to be able to reach
Daisy in the East Egg. Later on in the novel, When Daisy attends one of
Gatsbys extravagant parties, although she enjoys it at the beginning when
Gatsby tries to impress her with introducing her to various stars and actors,
the rest offended her--and inarguably, because it wasn't a gesture but an
emotion...She was appalled by West Egg. Daisy is so used to the ways of the
East egg, with its gracefulness and its ease and air of luxury that the raw
vigour of the West Egg disgusted her and she felt beneath it all. At the end
of the night, it is noted that she wasnt having a good time even though
she had been with Gatsby. She was not content with the ways of the West
Egg and fundamentally who Gatsby was. In a way, Gatsby had failed his
attempt at becoming like the people of the East Egg. He was not born with
the ease and carelessness of the people of East Egg. Through this scene
Fitzgerald shows subtle differences that sets apart the East and West Egg
and why Gatsby will never be able to attain daisy.

okay another way Gatsby wanted to win daisy heart was to show hes above all the
respected men in the society OH omg listen yeah theres this part where daist
finally comes to one of his parties and he tried to introduce her to all these singers
and actors and shows how extravagant he is but then she talks about how different
the party is compared to the ones that she has on the east egg and at the end,
Gatsby tells nick she didnt have fun yeaah e

Para one :

so im thinking that in the first paragraph we should talk about how exacctly the people of east
and west egg are different
and how that makes daisy and gatsby two very different people

Para 2 : in this para i think we should talk about kind of like the valley of ashes and
all that because it comes between the east and the west egg.. something about that

in second we also gotta what happens n the middle when these two sides collide
yeenno yeah that too
Para 3: and then in this one we should talk about how daisy and Gatsby;s love failed
because of the differences of the east and west egg, like how she chose tom over
Gatsby Gatsby still doesnt understand what exactly daisy wants, he does all this
hard work and goes above abd beyond and crosses all lines and limits for her yet
she still chooses tom over him, - why does his hardwork not end up fulfilling his
dreams. His hardworks went to trash
What do u think HUUUUUUHHHH WHERED YOU GOOOOOOOO
