1. PRESIDENTS LOT: WINE AND DINE ANYWHERE IN THE U.S. WITH THE TALLEYS
DONATED BY BRIAN AND JOHNINE TALLEY OF TALLEY VINEYARDS
Dinner for Two Couples with Brian & Johnine Talley anywhere in the Continental US
Magnum of 2014 Talley Vineyards Rosemarys Vineyard Pinot Noir

A rare retreat awaits you and your guests as you dine with Brian & Johnine Talley, owners of Talley
Vineyards! Its your pickthe Talleys will host your group of four at any restaurant in the Continental
United States! Plus, enjoy an autographed magnum of 2014 Rosemarys Vineyard Pinot Noir. Special thanks
to Brian Talley, our SLO Wine Country Board President!
For three generations, the Talley family has farmed in Coastal San Luis Obispo County. The tradition began
in 1948 when Oliver Talley founded Talley Farms and started growing specialty vegetables in the Arroyo
Grande Valley. During the 1970s, extensive planting of wine grapes began in the neighboring Edna Valley
and Santa Barbara County areas. After observation and extensive analysis, Olivers son, Don Talley, was
convinced of the potential to grow high quality chardonnay and pinot noir on the steep hillsides above Talley
Farms. Don planted a small test plot in 1982 on the west hillside of the Rincon Vineyard that included
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Over time the varietal and
clonal selections were refined and planting expanded to a total of 190 acres in the Arroyo Grande and Edna
Valleys.
Talley Vineyards produced its first wine in 1986 with the production of 450 cases. The winerys first five
vintages were produced in a small winery adjacent to one of Talley Farms vegetable coolers. In the fall of
1991, a winery was completed at the foot of the Rincon Vineyard. A 12,000 square foot barrel and case
goods storage building was added in 2000, followed by a new tasting room in 2002. Talley Vineyards
currently produces about 30,000 cases annually. Brian and Johnine Talley own and operate Talley Vineyards,
while Brian, Todd, Ryan and Rosemary Talley manage Talley Farms.
Surrounding Rosemary Talleys home, Rosemarys Vineyard is regarded as one of the very best Pinot Noir
vineyards in California, according to Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
Just think of ALL the ultra-fine restaurants available in the United States, and then imagine that you are
choosing the one that you have ALWAYS wished to enjoy, and then fully comprehend that you will be doing so
with Brian and Johnine. It does not get any better than what you are about to experience!
Lot Restrictions The dinner must be on a mutually agreed date; Dinner compliments of Brian Talley; airfare and
accommodations not included.

2012 Magnum of Center of Effort Pinot Noir

Center of Effort is to honor the natural character of the fruit while bringing an added dimension of artistry
to the wine.
There is nothing expedient in our approach. We embrace the detailed, labor-intensive methods that
are required to produce the finest wines. We make our wines in small handcrafted lots, always with
a gentle touch, and frequently relying on experienced intuition to guide our decisions. We emphasize
native fermentations, often favoring the vineyards natural yeasts over commercial yeasts. While native
fermentations are more challenging, we believe them necessary to achieve the textural depth that is a
hallmark of our wines.

to having a label created by a renowned artist specifically for your wine? This is a once in a lifetime
opportunity to experience Harvest behind the scenes and craft your own barrel of Chardonnay with local
winemaking expert, Jac Jacobs of Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards. You will be involved in every aspect of

What began as a retirement project back in 1999 has blossomed into a full time labor of love for Dick
and Dolores. Along with renowned winemaker Jac Jacobs, the Kelsey Family is hands on in all areas of the
business. The winery property grows our Estate Chardonnay grapes as well as Pinot Noir. Probably the

hardest part out of all the work is cleaning up after the peacocks. There are over 130 peacocks on our
Family Ranch and more babies born every year. Besides producing many medal-winning wines, Kelsey See
Canyon also draws as much attention for hard ciders and cider-wine blends done with apples that once
covered the valley.
Winemaker Jac Jacobs has worked in the wine industry for more than 35 years. His experience has covered
both the North Coast wine region (21 harvests) and the Central Coast wine region (14 harvests). His
specialties are wines that are true to varietal character, full-bodied red wines with a smooth balance of
tannins, dry fruity white wines, along with sparkling wines and ports. He has produced numerous gold
medal wines in his career, one of which was selected and served at the White House for a presidential state
dinner. Over his career he has had the opportunity to work with some of the legends of the wine industry
such as Andre Tcheischeff, John Parducci, Bob Iantosca and Michael Topolos. From them he has developed a
passion for producing high quality wines.
Colleen Gnoss life experiences and passion for the ocean are embedded in every single piece of art she
creates, even if the canvas is sixty feet or just sixty inches. Each piece of art tells a story. She concentrates
on her own classic themes: surfing, classic California beach life and sirens. Using a technique that
combines tonal painting and glazing, she gives her sirens and surfers depth and movement, and her waves
the clarity of stained glass by building up the surface with many layers of glazes. Colleen has dedicated
herself to living as a hard-working full-time artist, mom and surfer on the Central Coast of California. Her
art can be found on canvas, walls, surfboards and public art projects within 3 different states.
Lot restrictions: Dates for crushing and processing to be determined by winemaker, date subject to availability and must
be agreed upon by all parties.

and Dry Gewrztraminer, inspired by the fruity but dry dinner wines of the French province of Alsace. Today
Claiborne & Churchill produces about 8,000 cases of wine each year, sourcing grapes from vineyards in the
cool maritime valleys of Californias Central Coast and its own small estate vineyards.
In 1995 Clay and Fredericka completed construction on their new and permanent winery building. This

in the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and the journey to become a chef had begun. Prior to
graduation, Brian obtained an intern position at Berkeleys famous Chez Panisse Restaurant in 2000. Upon
the completion of a three month internship and graduation from culinary school, Brian was offered a full-time

design fueled her passion to restore the townsite. Once a long forgotten bustling town of the late 1800s,
Pattea has taken her creative energy and restored several buildings on site. The next project is the Bluebelly
Barn. From her love of vintage junking to high quality materials and fetish for signs, her style permeates
throughout the site.

8. THE BIG CHILL

DONATED BY NIVEN FAMILY WINE ESTATES, WOLFF VINEYARDS, SINOR-LAVALLEE,
KELSEY SEE CANYON & LAURA JEFFREY OF 101 WINE TOURS

Winetasting & Tour for ten (10) guests with the Finely Aged Winemakers of
SLO Wine Country

All day transportation to each location provided by 101 Wine Tours

Its an endless summer with the winemakers who take our palates to paradise! This classic crew
helped establish winemaking back in the day and includes winemakers Christian Roguenant
(Niven Family Wines), Jean-Pierre Wolff (Wolff Vineyards), Mike Sinor (Sinor-LaVallee) and
Jac Jacobs (Kelsey See Canyon).
Winemaker Christian Roguenant was born to wine. A native of the Burgundy region of France, he decided
early on to become a winemaker. Schooled at the University of Dijon, he earned not only a degree in
Oenology, but also a Certificate of Marketing for Wine and Spirits. Dangerously overeducated even then,
Christians insatiable thirst for novel methods led him to make wine in countless countries spread over
five different continents. He came to the Arroyo Grande Valley in the 1980s as the sparkling winemaker at
Maison Duetz, now known as Laetitia Winery. When the Niven family decided to build a new winery in 1998,
they gave a blank slate to Roguenant to design the winery of his dreams. Christian delights in selecting
among the hand-picked fruit from both the Paragon Vineyard and the Firepeak Vineyard.
For Jean-Pierre Wolff, owner of Wolff Vineyards in Edna Valley, conservation and sustainability require more
than just being in harmony with nature, and he has spent considerable time and dollars on everything from
protecting historic vines to improving water flow for steelhead trout to creating a turtle refuge and bird
sanctuary. His 125-acre property includes 55 acres of Chardonnay and 37 acres of Pinot Noir grapes. Twelve
additional acres are planted in Teroldego, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Riesling. The 40 year old Chardonnay
blocks are dry farmed, giving the wine a site-specific terroir characteristic. He has been handcrafting his
wines since 1999, making only 5,000 cases of his own wine each year.
Mike Sinor is a self-made winemaker with no formal winemaking education who worked his way up from
cellar rat through grit, determination and sheer love of wine. Raised in Visalia, CA, Mike attended
California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo with the objective of becoming a high school shop
teacher. He financed his college education by working at several local wineries -- an experience that ignited
his passion for the craft of making wine. Mike met his future wife, Cheri LaVallee, in a chemistry class at
Cal Poly (now thats Chemistry 101).
Winemaker Jac Jacobs has worked in the wine industry for more than 32 years. His specialties are wines
that are true to varietal character, full-bodied red wines with a smooth balance of tannins, dry fruity
white wines, along with sparkling wines and ports. He has produced numerous gold medal wines in his
career, one of which was selected and served at the White House for a presidential state dinner. Many
of the Sauvignon Blancs that he has made have been consistently rated the best in the world. Over his
career he has had the opportunity to work with some of the legends of the wine industry such as Andre
Tcheischeff, John Parducci, Bob Iantosca and Michael Topolos. From them he has developed a passion for
producing high quality wines.

You and nine friends will get a behind-the-scenes look at the art of winemaking, along with a taste of
the coastal SLO Wine region at every stop along the way. Laura Jeffery, owner of 101 Wine Tours will
be your personal sommelier guide and host as you taste through the wines with our Finely Aged to
Perfection winemakers.

November 2017. Tip for driver not included.

Coasts most decorated winemakers.

12. THE 1880 REVOLUTION OF WINE!

DONATED BY SAUCELITO CANYON VINEYARD
Thirty (30) bottles of 2013 Saucelito Canyon 1880 Zinfandel w/wine cooler

Saucelito Canyon is a singular Zin, made way out in the middle of nowhere from a vineyard centered
around three acres of ungrafted vines that were planted in 1880 It represents what can be great and
what can be romantic about Zinfandel. -Eric Asimov, New York Times wine writer
Start a revolution in your wine cellar! Heres your chance to nab an entire wine fridge of Saucelito Canyons
exclusive 1880 Old Vine Zinfandel. This state of the art 32 bottle single zone wine cooler is filled with 30
bottles of Saucelito Canyons 2013 1880 Old Vine Zinfandel; a wine which showcases the mature flavors,
natural layered complexity and remarkable character that are inherent to the historic old vines. Made
in limited quantities exclusively from the old vines, the 1880 Zinfandel is the crown jewel of Saucelito
Canyon. The retail price of just one bottle is $75, and due to its small production and high demand, it is
typically only available on club allocations. This is your one and only chance to own a collection of this truly
wonderful and unique wine.
The Saucelito Canyon story begins in 1880, when three acres of Zinfandel vines were planted in the rugged
terrain of the upper Arroyo Grande Valley on Californias Central Coast. After Bill Greenough acquired
Rancho Saucelito in 1974, he was faced with the arduous task of reviving three acres of abandoned
Zinfandel vines planted in 1880. The roots of the century-old vineyard were still going strong without care
or irrigation, but the vines were wild and choked with overgrowth. Clearing the land and retraining the vines
was no easy task. Slowly but surely, however, Bill restored the old vineyard to its original head-pruned glory.
After Bill began making wine from the original vineyard as well as newer blocks he had planted, he noticed
that the old-vine lots were different, with their own unique intensity of flavor and character. Over the years,
friends encouraged Bill to bottle a wine made solely from these dry-farmed old vines. With the intent of
keeping things simple, he never diduntil the vintage of 2006. This vintage marked the 25th anniversary
of Bill and Nancys commercial winemaking at Saucelito Canyon.
The Saucelito Canyon story continues today as the Greenough family merges new methods in sustainable
winegrowing with family traditions and winemaking style, which they collectively call the Saucelito Way.
Discover flavors that are native only to the historic dry-farmed vineyard in the remote chaparral of Saucelito
Canyon in the Arroyo Grande Valley.

Commemorative Harvest on the Coast Etching by Candice Norcross

Blend of Pinot Noir Produced by Coby Parker-Garcia, Claiborne & Churchill Winery

Coby Parker-Garcia has been making wines for 12 years and fell in love with Pinot Noir long ago. He
dreamed of creating high quality Pinot Noir from well known vineyards and AVAs. I like to say I take a
hands-on approach to winemaking. Get in and get dirty. As a winemaker, my job is to highlight the best
qualities of each vintage. Each vintage is different and brings something positive or unique to the table. My
style is to make balanced wine that accompanies food that show solid structure, elegance, and age ability.
A Nebuchadnezzar holds twenty bottles of wine or 15 Liters. This Pinot Noir Vintage 2014 was crafted Coby
Parker-Garcia and includes the following brands:
Baileyana, Biddle Ranch Vineyard, Center of Effort, Chamisal Vineyards, Chene Wines, Claiborne &

17. GETAWAY TO SUN VALLEY WITH THE TALLEYS

DONATED BY ROSEMARY TALLEY, BRIAN & JOHNINE TALLEY & TALLEY VINEYARDS
Private 3-Night Getaway for Four at Rosemary Talleys Sun Valley Home
Dinner in Ketchum, Idaho
Dinner at Rosemary Talleys Home in Sun Valley
One Magnum of Talley Vineyards Rosemarys Vineyard Chardonnay
One Magnum of Talley Vineyards Rosemarys Vineyard Pinot Noir

Two couples will join Brian or Rosemary Talley for a three-night stay at Rosemary Talleys Sun Valley home,
nestled in the spectacular Rocky Mountains of central Idaho. Whether you prefer skiing or summer fun,
beautiful Sun Valley offers an abundance of recreational activities. Choose to visit in the winter and spend

an afternoon exploring the mountains, or on the slopes. If you prefer warmer days, experience summers
beautiful landscape with hiking, fly fishing, or whitewater rafting. Your three-night stay will include a dinner
in town at one of Ketchums most highly regarded restaurants and a wonderful dinner including special
wines at Rosemary Talleys home.
For three generations, the Talley family has farmed in Coastal San Luis Obispo County. The tradition began
in 1948 when Oliver Talley founded Talley Farms and started growing specialty vegetables in the Arroyo
Grande Valley. During the 1970s extensive planting of wine grapes began in the neighboring Edna Valley
and Santa Barbara County areas.
Valleys.
What is less known is that the Talleys are gourmets as well as wine aficionados and that they frequent
locations where both interests are held in high regard. Ketchum, Idaho is one of those places; in fact, it is a
destination sought-after by world travelers who wish to experience the very finest lifestyle enhancements.
This auction offering for an array of Sun valley activities will allow you those luxuries.
Lot Restrictions: Winning bidders are responsible for transportation to Sun Valley (there are direct flights from LAX and SFO).
Getaway certificate expires one year from auction date, with blackout dates between Christmas and New Years Day. Dates
must be agreed upon by all parties.

This gem among hotels in Pismo Beach is nestled in a secluded cove and will offer you and your guest
unparalleled opportunities for both excitement and relaxation.
The 2014 vintage was one of the earliest recorded in Coastal San Luis Obispo starting August 1st, 2014. A
heat wave in January resulted in an early bud break, and then there was warm weather through the spring
and into early summer. It cooled off quite a bit in July, but by then the vines were so far down the road in
terms of maturity that many vintners were planning for an early harvest. The crop size was slightly above
average and similar to 2012 and the resulting wines are elegant and balanced.
SLO Wine is proud to partner with the Chardonnay Symposium with two etched Jeroboam bottlings (4.5
Liters). Each is etched with a logo from Harvest on the Coast and the Chardonnay Symposium. This
Chardonnay Vintage 2014 has been hand-crafted by winemaker Coby Parker-Garcia from Claiborne &

19. PICASSO Y VINO

DONATED BY THE NIVEN FAMILY
Three Hand-Etched 3 Liters of Baileyana Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah:
2014 Baileyana S-BAR Pinot Noir
2014 Baileyana S-BAR Chardonnay
2014 Baileyana S-BAR Syrah
Art inspired by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso and hand painted by Candice Norcross

Baileyana, the flagship brand from the Niven Family, was started by matriarch Catharine Niven and is now
in the expert hands of the second and third generations of the family. Baileyana wines are sourced from

premier blocks within the Nivens Paragon Vineyard, planted in 1973 by Catharines husband, Jack. Along
with Baileyana, you can find the rest of the familys portfolio: True Myth, Tangent, Zocker and Trenza at their
tasting room at 5828 Orcutt Rd. in the Edna Valley.
For this years auction, Niven Family Wine Estates is excited to present you with our Baileyana S-BAR
auction lot! Our lot consists of three hand painted and etched 3L bottles of 2014 Baileyana SBAR wines
from our estate vineyard. Each year our winemaker Christian Roguenant produces 3 reserve versions of our
Baileyana varietals: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, each are sourced from selected blocks and rows
from within our vineyard (hence the name, S-BAR). For this years auction, we have chosen three paintings
by legendary Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, to adorn each bottle.
Pablo Picasso was the most dominant and influential artist of the first half of the twentieth century.
Associated most of all with pioneering Cubism, alongside Georges Braque, he also invented collage and
made major contributions to Symbolism and Surrealism. He saw himself above all as a painter, yet his
sculpture was greatly influential, and he also explored areas as diverse as printmaking and ceramics.
Finally, he was a famously charismatic personality; his many relationships with women not only filtered into
his art but also may have directed its course, and his behavior has come to embody that of the bohemian
modern artist in the popular imagination.
Each bottle is etched and hand painted by renowned Central Coast artist Candice Norcross. We have been
working with Candice for decades and her artistry never disappoints. Not only are the bottles a beautiful work
of art that anyone would be proud to showcase in their cellar, but the wines are exquisite! Three distinct,
small lot, single block, reserve wines from the Edna Valley that are true in varietal character and creating to
showcase the best of the best within our vineyard. We hope you enjoy the Baileyana S-BAR wines!

Continued....

Niner Wine Estates is a family owned company that makes wine exclusively from three estate vineyards in
San Luis Obispo County. After growing up on a farm in West Virginia, Richard Niner spent his career building
small businesses across a wide variety of industries. One of his business ventures brought him to Paso
Robles in the early 1990s and he was immediately drawn to the potential of both the land and the people
who lived here. After a long search, Richard and Pam purchased their first vineyard, Bootjack Ranch, in
2001 and spent the next decade building a tasting room and winery, finding and planting two additional
vineyards, and assembling the current team. In 2013 they retired and their son Andy Niner took over the
day-to-day management of the business.
The philosophy at Niner Wine Estates is simple: we believe people are the key to a memorable experience,
so all our events are designed to be interactive and educational. Our Chef might decide to teach you how to
shuck fresh oysters during a class; our Winemaker may lead a blending seminar with his favorite barrels;
our Vineyard Manager might take you to the top of Heart Hill to geek out about rootstock. Regardless, our
goal is to have guests walk away loving this lifestyle as much as we do.

highly revered 2014 Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs in addition to two (2) 3-liter bottles of their flagship 2008
Les Galets and La Colline Single Vineyard Pinot Noir.
Situated in southern San Luis Obispo County, the Arroyo Grande Valley appellation is known for its cool
springs that generally lead to a late bud break. The 2008 growing season was no different and picture
perfect. The marine layer that usually dominates our early summer never really developed, leaving us with
a nice steady flow of cool sunshine. These moderate conditions ripened the grapes at a steady pace. A
slight heat wave in later summer accelerated the ultimate harvest times by more than a week, but promptly
returned to a weather pattern of constant sun throughout the entire harvest. These growing conditions for
the vines resulted in wines that are very balanced with slightly more acid contributing to the lift found on
the palate while still giving a fatness in the mouth feel.
Old World in style, La Colline translates to the hill and is comprised of fruit from the oldest vines on the
estate. Highlighting the delicate, feminine side of this famous variety with notes of dried violet, raspberry
and sweet smoke-this wine is made for food pairings.

The Les Galets is a seductive Pinot Noir, known for the stones on the hillside in which it grows and its
refreshing minerality shows it. A direct translation of the stones, the 2008 Les Galets shows brooding
cherry, mocha and wet limestone inter-mingling with a hint of lavender and wood smoke.
Offering one and two bedroom accommodations ranging from 1,000 to 2,100 square feet, the Dolphin Bay
suites are equipped with a living room, dining room, full gourmet kitchen, laundry facilities, and a spacious
balcony. Indulge in California Cuisine in Lido at Dolphin Bay or rejuvenate with pampering treatments at The
Spa. Spend a day exploring all that the Central Coast has to offer or stay-in and relax in luxury.
Lot Restrictions: Cellar dinner date to be determined.

DONATED BY BIDDLE RANCH VINEYARD

Two-night stay for three couples at Biddle Ranch Vineyard House

Private tour & tasting for three couples at the new Biddle Ranch Tasting Room &
Production facility

(3) Magnums of wine from Biddle Ranch Vineyard

Imagine a Four Seasons Resort meets wine country....this could be your own beautiful urban ranch! This
vacation home is Edna Valleys own Napa Style Retreat and is the ultimate getaway in the heart of wine
country. The Vineyard Vacation House at Biddle Ranch Vineyard is located in the midst of a 23-acre
Chardonnay vineyard in the Edna Valley. Here you can get away from it all, keep it simple and enjoy the vineyard
life, in addition to enjoying numerous outdoor activities, shopping and entertainment right in your backyard.
When Led and Anne Fortini purchased Biddle Ranch Vineyard in 2012 with four other partners, they didnt
even notice the modest family home concealed behind overgrown shrubbery. Likely built in the 1970s, the
home was located in downtown San Luis Obispo at the corner of Caudill and Broad streets. According to
Anne Fortini, not long after it was built, it was sold at a state auction and relocated to make way for the
widening of Broad Street. For more than 30 years, it has been a family home at its current Edna Valley
location, gradually expanding from its original 1,200 square feet as the family grew.
Anne Fortini, an interior designer, turned the modest family house into a luxurious vacation rental by owner.
Her son, Ryan Fortinis company, Fortini Landscapes, created outdoor elements. Mother and son worked
in tandem to fuse indoor and outdoor spaces to create a home that interacts with the vineyard and gives
people a chance to experience living among the vines.
Guests have many ways to interact with the 23 acres of chardonnay vines that surround the house. Two
of the suites have a private patio. The large rear patio is equipped with an outdoor kitchen, a fireplace,
and a large area for dining. The back lawn is encircled by Mediterranean landscaping, lush with fragrant
rosemary, citrus trees, olive trees and figs that are just beginning to stretch their espaliered limbs across
the back fence.
A place for gathering together friends and family to enjoy Biddle Ranch wine, the owners have been busy
building a new production facility and tasting room. The tasting room will be located on our estate vineyard

at Chne Vineyards, nestled in the heart of Edna Valley. The Platts waited for the perfect parcel to plant
a vineyard of Dijon varietals, combining Davids deep knowledge and appreciation for Old World viticulture
from his European family with Lisas understanding of biology and the local ecology. Together they built a
vineyard operation around a deep regard for the land, and a dedication to producing the finest wine on the
central coast.
Following lunch, you will be received at Center of Effort for a private tasting at one of the original Edna
Valley AVA wine production facilities, built in 1978. Weather permitting, you will take a quick walk through

the vineyard to get a feel for the layout of the vineyard blocks that form the foundation of their estate-grown
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, as well as a production overview and cellar tasting. Your time at Center
of Effort will wrap with a flight of current releases and some special library vintages. Nathan Carlson & the
entire winemaking team are dedicated to elevating the quality of Edna Valley wines and are very pleased to
be sharing their works in progress with you!
Well head out of the hills and into town, where youll taste and tour at Stephen Ross Cellars, an urban
winemaking production facility. Sample your way through the line-up of the regions best Pinot Noirs,
including their estate grown Stone Corral Pinot Noir. The wines reflect Steve Dooleys commitment to
consistently produce elegant, mind-blowing wines that demonstrate both terroir and Stephens winemaking
skill from ultra-high premium grapes, estate and contracted. Small production for over 20 years, Stephen
Ross wines have won acclaim throughout the industry.
No visit to San Luis Obispo is complete without a visit to Fromagerie Sophie to visit local cheesemongers
Paul and Sophie Boban-Doering. With its cozy interior and rows of wax-wrapped wheels, it is a little slice
of old Paree on the Central Coast. Fromagerie Sophie represents a lifelong love of food for the raven-haired
entrepreneur, who grew up in a European household with a Parisian mom who relished cooking and a
Croatian father who never wasted a drop of good bone marrow. Family gatherings overflowed with wine,
rustic farm-prepared meats, small market treasures andof coursethe smelliest of cheeses. Sample
and array of international cheese, paired with the wineries you have sampled throughout the day. Relax on
the back patio and reminisce on your epic journey!

32. FUND A NEED

SUPPORTED BY YOU!
Benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County

SLO Wine Country is committed to giving back to our community. This year, we are partnering with Big
Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo as our 2016 Fund-A-Need Recipient.
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child
is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong
and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better,
forever. Children like Forrest - Little Brother Forrest waited 3 years for a mentor. In that time, he lived in
7 different homes. His mom was in and out of rehab. His dad was in jail. His other relatives passed him
around. He didnt have anyone to depend on, until he met Big Brother Lou.
Lou wanted to help Forrest escape from the cycle of drugs, homelessness and unemployment.
Together, they volunteered at the animal shelter, for the food bank and at beach clean-ups. Forrest began
to feel like he was part of the community, with something valuable to offer. Lou took Forrest to soccer
games at Cal Poly and concerts at Cuesta. Forrest loved being on campus and imagined attending
college himself one day.
Now in his teens, Forrest is uncertain if his father will get paroled or if his mom will stay sober. But, he
is sure Lou will be there if he graduates from high school or maybe even college. And Big Brother Lou is
sure that he will.
Funding provides for a system of ongoing evaluation and support that is proven by independent studies to
help families by improving the odds that participating children will perform better in school, avoid violence
and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others. All funds support
children in SLO County. For more information on volunteering or contributing to Big Brothers Big Sisters, call
805-781-3226, or log onto www.slobigs.org.
We encourage you at this time to raise your paddle and support the youth in our community!
