1.0 Introduction
The case scenario is all about the twist that happened in a U.S.-owned
manufacturing company which is located in Taiwan. Jack Sparrow is a successful US
manager who brought numerous changes in that company in order to upgrade the
company performance within a short term period. However, some incidents were
happened out of Jacks control. Fire in warehouse, fatal accidents which involved local
plant supervisors wife and his two children, and also accident in assembly line are the
incidents that happened. Company safety record shouldnt be blamed due to the past
excellent report. Rumors start spreading like fire and the number of workers starts to
voluntary absent without valid reason is also increased. In order to solve this problem,
and maintain company reputation, Jack Sparrow planned to review the safety procedures
by hiring expertise, meanwhile Taiwanese supervisors feel to bring priest to have prayers
in company. One feel suggestion is inadequate and another thinks its irrelevant to the
problem. Meeting ended without any agreement because both of them not able to do
make a mutual decision due to contradict opinion that they suggested.
2.0 Problem Identification
There are several problems occur in this case scenario. First, a few incidents was
happened within last several months such as fire in warehouse, automobile accidents and
minor accident on the assembly line. These incidents happened continuously has leads to
the spread of rumors about the plant being cursed in the company. This has resulted in
workers deactivate to go for work. In the process of problem solving, Jack Sparrow has
different opinion with Taiwanese supervisors because of their cultural distinction. They
do not agree with each other opinion because of their contradicted view about the cause
of these incidents. US parties are more rational to determine the incidents are caused by
insufficient of safety procedure whereas for the Taiwanese, they are more superstitious in
judging these incidents.
