The schedule specifies the cover you have selected, it is your evidence of
insurance and may be required in the event of a claim. It is also important that
you let us know immediately of changes that affect what you have told us.
Changes will only take place after we have agreed and issued an endorsement
to the policy.

If you are involved in an accident, we will arrange for the insured vehicle to
be towed or if it is in a drivable condition, you can drive it to one of our
approved garages. The damaged vehicle will then be examined by one of our
motor surveyors who will agree the repair cost with the garage. The inspection
should take place within two working days of the insured vehicle being delivered
to the garage.
Well need the following documents from you in order to process
your claim:
a) Driving license
b) Registration card
c) Police accident report (original required)

us at claim.me@zurich.com. To ensure we have the original version of the police
accident report, you can either deliver it in person to one of our branches or
deliver it directly to the garage.

Policy information
Your cancellation rights
If you decide that the policy does not meet your requirements (or any future renewal
of the policy) please return it to us (or your insurance intermediary) immediately
using the contact details provided in this document. If no claims have been made
we will refund the premium on a pro rata basis after deducting a small administration
fee. No refund will be given if a claim has been paid or is outstanding at the time
of cancellation.

Motor vehicle insurance policy against loss, damage and third party liability
Whereas the insured by a proposal and declaration which shall be the basis of this
contract and is deemed to be an integral part of it has applied to Zurich Insurance
Middle East S.A.L (hereinafter referred to as the Company) for the insurance
hereinafter contained and has paid or agreed to pay the premium as consideration
for such insurance.
Now this policy witnesseth that in respect of accidents occurring during the period
of insurance in the United Arab Emirates and subject to the terms, conditions and
exceptions contained herein or endorsed hereon (hereinafter collectively referred
to as the Terms of this policy).
The company will accordingly provide the insurance described in the policy, for events
occurred during the period of insurance or any subsequent renewal period, for the
premiums and compliance with all applicable provisions of this policy.

Definitions
The words defined below will have the same meaning wherever they are shown in
your policy and accompanying documents. If any of these definitions contradict the
Unified Policy wording, the Unified Policy wording shall prevail.
Accessories: The optional manufacturer insured vehicle equipment permanently
fitted in the insured vehicle and its value stated in your proposal form.
Agency repairs: If agency repairs are included in your policy, as shown in the
schedule, then you have the option of having the insured vehicle repaired at the
manufacturers authorized dealers. If you do not have this cover then we shall select
one of our own approved garages to undertake the repairs, or you have the right to
repair the damage due to an accident covered under the policy.
Authorized repair limit: The limit specified in the schedule to this policy.
Certificate of motor insurance: The document which proves that you have
insurance in line with United Arab Emirates road traffic laws.
Company/we/us/our: Zurich Insurance Middle East S.A.L.
Excess: The amounts shown in the schedule which you must pay when you make
a claim which cannot be recovered from a Third Party. We will not charge you an
excess for Theft, Fire or Windscreen claims.
Insurance authority: The United Arab Emirates Insurance Authority.
Insured vehicle: The car whose details have been reported to and accepted by
us and whose chassis or engine number is shown in your certificate of motor
insurance and the schedule. This includes any in-car equipment fitted as standard
by the manufacturer.
Insured/you/your: The person named as the Policyholder in your certificate
of motor insurance and the schedule.
Licensed driver: The insured or any person driving the insured vehicle under
permission from the insured who holds a license enabling them to drive the insured
vehicle in accordance with the traffic laws and regulations and who has not had his
or her license withdrawn or suspended by order of a Court of Law or under
applicable traffic regulations.

No claims discount: A discount on your premium in return for you not making
a claim.
Period of insurance: Your policy runs for the period specified in the schedule.
Policy: Your policy is made up of your application form for this insurance, this
policy terms and conditions, the schedule and your certificate of motor insurance.
Schedule: The document which describes you and your insured vehicle and any
special details of your policy such as excesses or special terms and conditions.
Territory: The United Arab Emirates and any other area stated in the schedule.
Vehicle/insured value: The amount stated on the policy schedule which we
shall pay in the event of a total loss after deducting depreciation.

What we cover
Own Damages (Section 1)
1.

The company undertakes to indemnify the insured for loss of or damage to


the insured vehicle, its accessories and spare parts in the following cases:
a)

If the loss or damage resulted from a collision, overturning or


accident or due to an unexpected mechanical failure, or due
to the wear and tear of the vehicle parts

b)

By fire, external explosion, self ignition, lightning or thunderbolt


(Fire cover)

c)

By burglary or theft (Theft cover)

d)

By malicious act of any third party

e)

Whilst in transit (including the process of loading and unloading


incidental to such transit) by road, rail, inland waterway, lift or crane
elevator, relating to the said transportation.

2.

The company will compensate the insured for the loss or damage in cash,
or it will repair the insured vehicle and reinstate it, or replace it, or any part,
accessories or spare parts thereof, however the liability of the company shall
not exceed the value of the replacement of the lost or damaged parts and the
reasonable value for the installation of such parts, unless the insured requests
the company to pay him this value in cash, in such case, the company shall
act according to the request of the insured.

Where the insured requests the replacement of the damaged parts with new
parts, or requests a cash payment (except taxis, and rent-a-car vehicles), the
insured shall bear the rate of depreciation as shown in Schedule No. (1)
where as for taxis, and rent-a-car vehicles, the insured shall bear the rates
of depreciation as shown in Schedule No. (2).

The insured has the right to repair the damage due to an accident covered
under the policy provided the total cost of such repair does not exceed the
authorized repair limit mentioned in the schedule attached to this policy,
and the insured should forward to the company without delay a detailed
estimate of the cost.

If the insured vehicle sustains loss or damage which renders it a total loss,
where the cost of repair exceeds 50% of the insured value before the
accident, the vehicle/insured value agreed between the insured and the
company as specified in the policy schedule, shall form the basis of
indemnity for loss or damage covered under the policy subject to deduction
of depreciation not exceeding 20% of the agreed value stated in the
schedule for the first year the vehicle is used on the road; taking into
consideration the proportionate part of the year whilst calculating depreciation.

As of the second year of the vehicles use, depreciation not exceeding 20%
per annum shall be deducted from the insured value of the insured vehicle
stated in the schedule of the policy as follows:
5% from the beginning of the 1st month up to the end of the 3rd month
10% from the beginning of the 4th month up to the end of the 6th month
15% from the beginning of the 7th month up to the end of the 9th month
20% from the beginning of the 10th month up to the expiry of the 12th month

5.

If the insured vehicle is immobilized by reason of loss or damage insured


under this policy the company will bear the reasonable cost of protection
and removal to the nearest repairers and delivery to a garage within the
country where the loss or damage was sustained.

Exceptions for Own Damages Cover


The company shall not be liable to pay any compensation in respect of:
1.

Consequential loss affecting the insured vehicle or a decrease in the insured


vehicle value through usage, impairment, failure or breakdown of mechanical
or electrical equipment.

2.

Damage resulting from overloading or carriage at any one time of a greater


number of passengers than the number for which the insured vehicle is
licensed by the concerned authorities, provided that the overloading or excess
of passengers was the cause of the accident which resulted in the loss or
damage to the insured vehicle.

3.

Damage to tyres, unless that damage occurs at the same time as the damage
to the insured vehicle.

4.

Loss and damage caused to the insured vehicle as a result of the following:
a)

Use of the insured vehicle for a purpose otherwise than in


accordance with the limitations of use.

b)

If the driver disobeys the law involving a criminal act or felony as per
the definition provided for in Articles (28) and (29) of Penal Code as
issued in Federal Law No. (3) for 1987.

5.

Damage resulting to the insured vehicle from accidents which occur while it
is being driven by an unlicensed driver as in accordance with the Traffic and
Roads Acts, or his driving license has been suspended by court or competent
authorities or as per traffic laws.

6.

Loss or damage to the insured vehicle or any part thereof arising out of
an accident occurring due to its being driven whilst the driver is under the
influence of alcohol, drugs or medicated drugs which affected his control over
the insured vehicle, if it has been proved to the competent authorities or by
admission of the driver.

7.

Loss or damage to the insured vehicle, as a result of the vehicle being


driven by the insured or any other person outside the road as per the
definition of road as every passage open to public traffic, unless otherwise
agreed in this insurance policy.

Third Party Liability (Section 2)


1.

The company shall be liable to compensate the insured in the event of an


accident caused by or arising out of the use of the insured vehicle subject
to the limits specified in this policy, against all sums which the insured shall
become legally liable to pay as compensation for:
a)

Death of or bodily injury to any person including the passengers in the


insured vehicles except the insured or the driver at the time of the
accident and their families, spouse, parents and children and the
employees of the insured if they are injured during work hours and as a
result of their work and they are to be considered as passengers whether
inside the insured vehicle or mounting or dismounting from it.

b)

Damages to materials and property, except those owned by or held


in trust by the insured or the driver at the time of the accident or
in their custody or control.

2.

The insurance mentioned in this Section is extended, in accordance with


the provisions and conditions herein, to cover the liability of each licensed
driver while driving the insured vehicle provided that he fulfils and complies
with the terms and conditions of this policy and obeys it as if he was the
insured himself.

3.

Subject to the limits specified in the schedule to this policy, the company
shall be liable to pay court orders or judgments up to whatever amount
is awarded to the plaintiff including judicial expenses and charges (except
penalties and/or fines), and the company shall pay such compensation
to the rightful claimant as and when the court order becomes
mandatory implementable.

4.

In the event of death of any person entitled to indemnity under this Section,
the company will in respect of the liability towards such person indemnify his
heirs in accordance with the terms, conditions and exceptions of this policy,
provided that such heirs shall, as though they were the insured, observe,
fulfill and be subject to the terms of this policy to the extent applicable.

5.

In the event of any accident involving indemnity under this Section to more
than one person the limits of liability specified in the schedule to this policy
shall apply to the aggregate amount of indemnity due to all persons.

6.

The company will pay all costs and expenses incurred with its prior consent.

7.

The company may arrange for representation of the insured at any inquest
or inquiry in respect of any accident which may be the subject of indemnity
under this Section, and the company undertakes to defend the insured in
any Court of Law in respect of any action which relates to an event which
may be the subject of indemnity under this Section.

General Exceptions
1.

This policy does not cover loss or damage or third party liability arising from
events involving the insured vehicle in the following cases:
a)

Accidents which take place outside the Geographical Area specified


in this policy;

b)

Accidents which happen directly or indirectly, proximately or remotely


occasioned by, contributed to by or traceable to or arising out of
or in connection with a flood, storm, hurricane, volcanic eruption,
earthquake or other convulsion of nature, invasion, act of foreign
enemies, hostilities or warlike operations whether war be declared or
not, civil war, strike, riot, civil commotion, mutiny, rebellion, revolution,
insurrection, military or usurped power, confiscation or nationalization
or ionizing radiation contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear
fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel
direct or indirect with any of the aforementioned causes.

This insurance does not cover any liability due to an agreement made by the
insured where no liability would arise or have arisen but for that agreement.

General Conditions (Section 3)


1.

This policy and the schedule shall be considered as one contract and any word
or expression to which a specific meaning has been attached in any part of this
policy and schedule shall bear such specific meaning wherever it may appear.

2.

Every notice or communication to be given or made under this policy shall be


delivered to the company in writing.

3.

The insured shall take all reasonable steps to safeguard the insured vehicle
from loss or damage and to maintain the insured vehicle in a roadworthy
condition. The company shall have at all times the right of free and full access
to examine such insured vehicle or any part thereof. In the event of any
accident or breakdown, the insured vehicle shall not be left unattended
without proper precautions being taken to prevent further loss or damage and
if the insured vehicle is driven before the necessary repairs are effected, any
extension of the damage to the insured vehicle shall be excluded from the
scope of indemnity granted by this policy.

4.

The insured shall remain throughout the validity of this policy the sole and
absolute owner of the insured vehicle and shall not make any agreement to
let out upon hire the insured vehicle or enter into any agreement restricting
his absolute control and possession of the insured vehicle without the
written permission of the company having first being obtained.

5.

In the event of any occurrence which may give rise to a claim under this
policy, the insured shall give immediate notice to the competent authority
and to the company, with all relevant information. The insured shall submit
to the company any claim or warning or notice of summon immediately upon
their receipt. The insured should also notify the company immediately when
he has knowledge of any impending prosecution or investigation into a fatal
accident in connection with any such occurrence. In case of theft or other
criminal act which may give rise to a claim under this policy, the insured shall
give immediate notice to the police and co-operate with the company in
securing the conviction of the offender.

6.

No admission, offer, promise or payment shall be made by or on behalf of the


insured without the written consent of the company which shall be entitled, if
it so desires, to take over and conduct in the name of the insured the defense
or settlement of any claim or to prosecute in his name for its own benefit any
claim for indemnity to damages or otherwise and shall have full discretion in the
conduct of any proceedings and in the settlement of any claim and the insured
shall give such information and assistance as the company may require.

At any time after the happening of any event giving rise to a claim or series of
claims under clause 1(b) of Section 2 of this policy, the company may at any
time pay to the insured the full amount of the companys liability under the
above mentioned clause and relinquish the conduct of any defense, settlement
or proceedings and the company shall not be responsible for any damage
alleged to have been caused to the insured in consequence of any alleged
action or omission of the company in connection with such defense, settlement
or proceedings, or of the company relinquishing such conduct. Also the
company shall not be liable for any costs or expenses whatsoever incurred by
the insured or any claimant or other person after the company shall have
relinquished such conduct.

a) The company may revoke the provisions of Section 1 of this policy,


provided that there are serious reasons that call for such an action
during the policys effective period, and that by virtue of notice sent
to the insured by registered mail to his last known address, thirty
days prior to the date set for the revocation. The company shall also
report the grounds of the revocation to the Ministry. In this case, the
company shall refund the premium which the insured would have
paid, having deducted the part corresponding to the period when
policy was still effective.

The insured may revoke the provisions of Section 1 of the present


policy, as well, by virtue of a written notice sent to the company by
registered mail, seven days prior to the date set for the revocation,
provided no claim has been made during the policys effective
period. In this case the company shall refund the paid premium to
the insured, having deducted the part corresponding to the period
when the policy was still effective as per the short term categories.

b) Neither the company nor the insured has the right to cancel
Section 2 of this policy during its period of validity as long as the
insured vehicles license is valid. In case the policy is cancelled
before its expiry date because of cancellation of the insured
vehicles permit, or presentation of a new policy due to a change
in the details of the insured vehicle or transfer of its ownership,
the company will refund to the insured the paid premium less the
short period premium provided no claim has been made during the
policys effective period.

The company shall pay to the insured, in all cases of cancellation,


the balance premium due prior to the expiry of the notice period.
9.

If at the time when any claim arises under this policy there be any other
insurance covering the same loss damage or liability, the company shall not
be liable to pay or contribute more than its rateable proportion of any such
loss or damage or compensation or costs or expenses.

10.

The due observance and fulfillment of the terms and conditions of this policy
insofar as they relate to anything to be done or not to be done by the
insured and the truth of all statements and declarations expressed by the
insured in the proposal shall be conditions precedent to any liability of the
company to make any payment under the policy.

Furthermore any notice of claim is to be fully in accordance with the


requirements of Clauses 2 & 5 of the General Conditions (Section 3)
of this policy.

11.

The company may claim back from the insured and/or the licensed driver
the value of what has been paid as compensation by the company in the
following cases:
a)

If it is proved that the insurance contract has been made on the basis
of false statements by the insured or if he has concealed relevant
information which affects the acceptance of this insurance by the
company or otherwise affects the premium or the terms of this policy.

b)

Using the insured vehicle for purposes other than as stipulated


in the policy or exceeding the permitted number of passengers,
overloading more than the permitted limit or the load not stowed
correctly or exceeding the dimensions of width and length or
height permitted.

c)

If the driver disobeys the law involving an intentional criminal act or


felony as per the definition provided for in Articles (28) and (29) of
Penal Code as issued in Federal Law No. (3) for 1987.

d)

If the driver whether the insured or a person driving with his


permission, has no driving license for the type of vehicle involved as
in accordance with the Traffic and Roads Acts, or his driving license
has been suspended by court or competent authorities or as per
traffic laws.

e)

If it is proved that the accident, death or bodily injury has resulted


from an intentional act by the insured. The right of recourse for the
company under this General Condition as well as the Terms &
Conditions of this policy, will not affect the right of Third Parties
towards the insured.

f)

If it is proved to any competent authorities or upon confession upon


the driver, that the accident occurred as a result of the vehicle being
driven by the insured or any person driving with his consent under
the influence of drugs or alcohol or any other drugs which cause loss
of control of the vehicle.

g)

If it is proved that the accident occurred as a result of the vehicle being


driven by the insured or any driver outside the road as per the
definition of road as every passage open to public traffic, unless
otherwise agreed in this policy.

Nothing in this policy or any endorsement on it will affect the rights of any
person entitled to compensation by virtue of this policy, or any other persons
right to recover any due amount by virtue of the law.

Any claim under this policy shall be time barred if not submitted to the
company within three years from the event giving rise thereto or from the
time the concerned party knew of such event.

It is possible that the company and the insured by virtue of additional


endorsements attached to this policy and within the limits of its provisions
and conditions, may agree that the company will cover other damages and
injuries which are not mentioned in this policy especially the following:
a)

Insurance against accidents which may occur to the insured or his


family and the driver at the time of accident and persons working for
the insured, including the medical expenses due to bodily injury to
any one of them.

b)

Insurance against damage of property owned by the insured or the


driver at the time of the accident, or whatever is under their custody,
possession or control.

Any dispute arising out of this policy falls within the jurisdiction of United
Arab Emirates Courts.

Own Damages Additional Cover (Section 4)


The following covers will only apply if listed on your schedule. Where listed in the
schedule, the company will indemnify the insured for loss of or damage to the
insured vehicle, as follows:
Repairs carried out:
a)

Agency repairs cover

If the insured vehicle is new or less than 5 years old, the company will
pay for the insured vehicle to be repaired at the manufacturers authorized
repairers within the United Arab Emirates following an accident covered under
your policy. If the insured vehicle has already reached the age specified on
your schedule, and no claim has been declared against your policy in the
previous three years, the company will continue offering the manufacturers
authorized repairers in respect of your next claim.

If the driver of the insured vehicle is over the age of 25 and you request
to have the insured vehicle repaired at one of our non-agency approved
repairers, we will not charge you an excess.

The cover is applicable only to vehicles purchased from manufacturers


authorized dealers in United Arab Emirates.

Events occurring:
b)

Motor trade and valet parking cover

Whilst the insured vehicle is in the custody or control of a garage or other


similar business, not owned by the insured, for the purpose of maintenance,
repair, testing or servicing, or where the insured vehicle is in the custody of
a hotel, restaurant or similar business which the insured does not own, and
where the insured vehicle has been parked by a licensed driver;

c)

GCC cover extension

In Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Qatar, provided that the maximum
duration of any single trip shall not exceed 45 days or the maximum
total number of days shall not exceed 90 days in any 12 month period;

d)

Off-road cover

Whilst the insured vehicle is being driven off road, as defined in the Traffic
and Roads Act (as amended). Cover under your policy will not apply if you
are, or any other person is, using the insured vehicle in a competitive event
or race of any kind, or if you are, or any other person is, using the insured
vehicle for carrying passengers as part of or in furtherance to business.

Other losses including:


e)

Personal belongings cover

Loss or damage to personal possessions in or on the insured vehicle up to


the amount specified in the schedule. We do not cover money, jewellery or
similar items and possessions stolen from an open-top or convertible car,
unless they are kept in a locked glove compartment;

Losses arising from any of:


f)

Natural calamities cover

Flood, storm, typhoon, hurricane, cyclone, tornado, volcanic eruption,


earthquake or other convulsions of nature;

g)

Riot cover

Riot, strike & civil commotion, which does not assume the proportions
of, or amount to a popular uprising;

Any special insured vehicle value criteria, such as:


h)

New car replacement cover

When the age of the insured vehicle is less than the number of months
printed in the schedule and is declared a total loss, we will pay for a brand
new replacement model.

i)

Agreed return to value cover

When the insured vehicle is more than 18 months old and is declared a
total loss we will pay vehicle/insured value as agreed at the time of renewal
of your policy, or at inception if the policy is new, without applying any
depreciation during the year.

Third Party Liability Additional Cover (Section 5)


The following covers will only apply if listed on your schedule. Where listed in the
schedule, the company will pay compensation as deemed due in respect of:
a)

Family members cover extension

In addition to Third Party Liability Cover provided under Section 2, we will


extend the definition of third party to include family members. The
insureds or licensed drivers legal liability for death or bodily injury to
any person in the insured vehicle is extended to cover family members.

b)

Driving other vehicles

Third party liability resulting from claims while driving occasionally other
vehicles which do not belong to you. If you are planning to drive someone
elses car regularly, you should be covered on their insurance policy. This cover
only applies when you are 25 years old or older and the vehicle you are
driving does not have third party liability cover at the time of the event giving
rise to a claim.

c)

Property damages cover extension

In addition to the cover provided under Section 2, we will extend the cover
limit for third party property damage up to the amount specified in your
policy schedule.

d)

Emergency medical expenses cover

Emergency medical treatment as required in respect of any accidental bodily


injury occurring to persons in the insured vehicle as a direct and immediate
result of the event(s) giving rise to a claim under this policy, up to the amount
specified in the schedule.

Personal Accident (Section 6)


It is agreed and acknowledged against payment of additional premium, as thus the
company has agreed and acknowledges to pay compensation in accordance with
the table stated here-in-under about death or any physical injuries sustained by the
insureds and/or drivers family members (spouse, parents and children) and/or
employees while ascending or descending from the vehicle as a result of a severe
remarkable accidental incident that leads in an independent manner away from any other
reason (except for medical or surgical treatment needed) to any of these injuries stated in
the table here-in-under during the following three months from the date of accident.

Conditions
a)

Compensation which the company is committed to pay will be restricted


according to one article only of these articles for article one to six here-inabove mentioned or as per article seven separately or by adding to it either
article five or six according to the conditions of any of those persons insured
as a result of any single accident provided that total company liability will not
exceed for compensation amount AED 200,000 for the person insured during
any single period of insured.

b)

At the insureds request, the company will pay weekly compensation for
temporary total disability preventing the injured person from engaging in his
occupation (as per item (8) of the above table) for a period not exceeding 26
consecutive weeks. The weekly compensation amount and the aggregate
amount shall be in accordance with the agreement between the person
demanding insurance and the company.

c)

The company is not liable to pay any compensation for death or physical
injury which occurs either directly or indirectly, totally or partially as a result
of the following reasons:
1.

T o harm oneself intentionally or by committing suicide or by


attempting suicide or physical defect or mental weakness.

2.

 s a consequence of person demanding compensation himself


A
from addiction to drugs or liquor.

d)

Compensation payment should be paid by the approval of person demanding


insurance to the injured person directly or to his legal representative and the
settlement issued from him is considered a final one about the compensation
he deserves.

e)

Number of vehicle passengers at the time of accident should not exceed the
seating capacity of the vehicle.

Subject otherwise to the Terms, Exceptions and Conditions of the policy.

Roadside Assistance (Section 7)


The following cover will only apply if listed on your schedule.
Zurich Roadside Assistance shall provide, in the event of a mechanical failure
or accident in the United Arab Emirates, the following services in respect of the
insured vehicle (Roadside Assistance Vehicle Cover):
a)

Towing service: In case of any loss or damage insured under this policy, the
company will bear the reasonable cost of delivering the insured vehicle to
the nearest garage a towing service to deliver the insured vehicle to the
nearest garage within the same Emirate, where the insured vehicle cannot
be started and/or safely driven or if the insured vehicle requires mechanical
repairs, or in the case of an accident, delivery of the insured vehicle to
anywhere within the United Arab Emirates.

b)

Mechanical repairs service: Undertaking minor adjustments to enable the


insured vehicle to be driven (subject to costs for any spare parts supplied,
the cost of which shall not be borne by the company);

c)

Battery charge: If the battery of the insured vehicle is dead, we will jumpstart the insured vehicle to get it moving or where this cannot be achieved,
we will tow the insured vehicle to the nearest garage;

d)

Flat tyre change: If you have no tools to change your tyre or cannot change
the tyre, we will change the tyre for you. If you are unable to provide an
inflated spare tyre, the insured vehicle will be towed to the nearest garage;

e)

Petrol delivery: An emergency supply of fuel will be delivered to your disabled


insured vehicle in order to reach the nearest petrol pump. As the insured,
you will pay the cost of the fuel only;

f)

Locked out of car: If by chance your keys are locked inside the insured
vehicle, we will have the keys removed for you; and/or

g)

Off road cover service: Subject to the insured vehicle being not further than
five metres from the paved road (as per the definition of road), this cover shall
be applicable within city limits all over the United Arab Emirates.

h)

Car registration service: We will provide a free registration service. Please call
us 48 hours in advance to book this service.

The following covers will only apply if listed on your schedule. Where listed in the
schedule, the company will also provide the following additional cover:
a)

Roadside assistance GCC extension cover

To reimburse you for any of the services detailed above, up to a maximum


of AED 2,500 in the event of a mechanical failure or accident in Oman,
Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Qatar, provided that the maximum duration
of any single trip shall not exceed 45 days or the maximum total number of
days shall not exceed 90 days in any 12 month period;

b)

Roadside assistance desert extension cover

To provide off road cover in the United Arab Emirates even when the insured
vehicle is further than 100 metres from the road, as defined in the Traffic and
Roads Act (as amended);

c)

Roadside assistance people cover

To cover the following risks related to people, as follows:


i)

Overnight accommodation: If the insured vehicle cannot be repaired


during the day and the anticipated time of the required repair is
greater than 2 hours (according to the manufacturers guidelines) and
you are 200 km far from your residence address, the company will
pay for actual costs incurred to stay in a hotel up to a maximum of
AED 500 per night, up to a limit of 2 nights; and

ii)

Transport of people: If the insured vehicle is immobilized for more


than 48 hours and the anticipated time of the required repair is
4 hours or more, the company will transport each of the insured
people by normal means of transport or alternatively will provide
them a hire car up to a limit of AED 500. This transport will be
to the policyholders main habitual residence or optionally to the
end destination of the trip, provided that the cost of travelling to the
latter is not greater than the cost of transport to the policyholders
habitual residence. Use of this cover excludes the right to hotel expenses.

Windscreen Damage (Section 8)


We shall cover loss of or damage to the insured vehicles windscreen, windows and
glass sunroof (including tinted glass), and any damage to the bodywork caused by the
breakage of that glass. We will not charge you an excess or reduce your no claims
discount if the only claim you are making relates to cover under this Section.

Hire Car Benefit (Section 9)


The following covers will only apply if listed on your schedule.
The company will provide:
a)

Hire car claims lump sum cover

Following an accident covered under your policy, you will be entitled to hire
a car of your choice while your insured vehicle is repaired, up to the amount
specified in the schedule or

b)

Hire car claims vehicle cover

Following an accident covered under your policy, the company will organize
a hire car for a maximum period of 10 days while the insured vehicle is repaired.

Use of any hire car mentioned under the covers set out above must commence within
48 hours of the insured vehicle becoming disabled, following an accident covered
under your policy. The hire car benefit is only valid for use within the United Arab
Emirates. Where the insured vehicle is declared a total loss due to damage or theft,
the benefit under this Section shall cease after we have made you an offer of
settlement against your claim.

Replacement Locks (Section 10)


If the car keys or locking transmitter/remote of the insured vehicle are lost or stolen,
we will pay 50% of the cost of replacing the insured vehicles door locks and boot
lock, the ignition and steering lock, the locking transmitter/remote and the central
locking system. Any sum payable under this section is subject to the maximum
amount shown in the schedule.

No Claims Discount (Section 11)


If no claim is made on this policy during the period of insurance, your no claims
discount will increase in line with our usual scale. If a claim is made against this
policy, your no claims discount will be reduced.
Where specified in the schedule under the section entitled Protected No Claims
Discount cover, we shall not reduce your no claims discount unless more than
two claims are submitted in any five consecutive periods of insurance.
