All the answer in this document were collect from the official D&D Attack Wing rules question
forum and from the Board Game Geek forums. All questions marked MOD and AP were answer
by game designers Manny ODonnel and Andrew Parks , respectively, On BGG. Unremarked
answers are from the rules forum mods. Questions from D&D:AW fans everywhere.
Never laugh at a live dragon.

GENERAL
Each single player is limited to one immediate effect per trigger. However, both players can respond to the same
trigger if able. If the timing of these two immediate effects matters, then the active players effect transpires first.
The damage deck MUST contain all 33 cards that are in the starter set. It cannot be altered in any way.
The default rule is that both players share the same damage deck. Tournament Organizers can change this
rule if they wish.
A player asked why he couldnt spend and action during his turn to place additional time counters on his
poison blade to extend the duration of the effect. Poison blade does not disable to gain the effect.
As per the rulebook, an Upgrade with Duration Tokens cannot be activated.
The Subdued Damage Card mentions an Action Bar. What is this?
The Action Bar refers to the Action Icons listed on the Creature Card.
Do we measure attack range and point of origin of attack from the burst token, or from the attacking model?
If Eshaedra is 3-4 distance away from the unit that is hit by a burst, do you add attack dice?
Use the attacking model in this case. All normal bonuses and penalties for attacking apply to Burst Attacks.
When measuring range 1-2 from the burst token, do you measure from the center point of the
token, or the sides?
From the sides
Is it possible to fly past 2 ground units in succession, that is, they are close enough that you cannot
place the model behind the first creature?
Yes, you can fly past multiple ground units.
Do you remove the Duration token on the End Phase during the same round it was cast, or do you
start removing tokens the round after it is used?
You start removing tokens during the End Phase of the current round.

ACTIONS
When you choose the charge action do you have to have a target designated within your melee range or
can you use this action to just gain an additional 1 maneuver during your combat phase?
Charge does not require the presence of an enemy creature.
If I use the charge action in conjunction with something that grants multiple attacks such as
Close Quarters at range 1, does each attack gain the +1 attack die bonus?
Yes.
When the rules say that a creature may overlap another base when making the charge move, this is
still subject to the normal moving through another figure rules?
Yes
1) So if a charge would take the active figure into, but not through another figure, it would still be able to s
pend the Charge token, and get the +1 melee attack dice, even though the active figure may not actually move.
Yes
1

2) If the charge move would take the active figure completely through an enemy figure, would it need
to perform an overrun roll to determine if it has to stop when hitting the other figures base (assuming
both are on the ground level)?
Yes.
Can a creature use the Feint Action after bumping into another creature while moving?
Yes, a creature can feint after bumping, assuming there is a clear space for it to feint into.
When spending a charge token, can you choose *not* to move, but still get the charge bonus if you
make a melee attack?
No, you must move forward if you can. - AP

ATTACKS

Any attacks made with Primary Weapons are considered Primary Weapon attacks.
A creature is considered to be attacking even if it is making an upgrade attack such as Ice Storm.
This means that effects like Favored Enemy will affect Ice Storm. Also, effects that prevent you from
attacking will also affect Ice Storm. In this case, Soaring Assault will not work since you cannot initiate
a ranged attack (even the one from ice storm) after you have charged.
A dragon declares an attack using Poison Breath. Since you cant pre-measure attacks, the declaration is
made first, then the player measures. It is revealed that there are no targets in range. Has Poison Breath
been used? That is to say, does it receive the Duration Tokens because it was used?
If there is no one in range of a declared attack, then the attack fails. All costs, including Duration Tokens,
are still paid.
Can you willingly hit one of your own creatures with a non- Area attack (like a Bite or a Tail)?
For example, to wake them up from sleep breath?
Yes, as long as the attack does not specify an enemy creature (e.g. Tome of Naming).
If I attack an allied creature, can I spend my target token to re-roll those attack dice?
Yes.
If during the move/action step a creature takes a charge token, then is System Shocked, when its that
creatures combat phase does he still get to use the charge token?
Yes. Spending an Action Token is not the same things as performing an Action.
Do units always have the option of attacking with a rear attack, a tail for example? Or do they
require a charge order?
As long as a creature has a rear arc attack, they may make a rear arc attack. Making a rear arc attack
does not require you to take the charge action.
Do attacks made past range 4 also get the +1 green die?
Yes
Do area attacks receive the defensive bonus from range?
Area attacks do receive the defensive bonus from range, even though they dont receive the bonus
for interposing figures/obstacles.
2

If a creature cant move due to an effect like Paralysis, do all attacks against it get +1 attack die similar to
the pivot penalty? As an additional penalty for standing still, all enemies attacking that creature roll
+1 attack die for the rest of the round
No. That is thematically represented by the fact that the creature cannot roll defense dice (as per
the Paralysis Token reference card).
For line area attacks, is the line required to originate from the center of the creature through the front
attack arc, or can it originate from any spot in the front arc and go in any direction (presuming the
targets are still in the front attack arc)?
As per the rulebook, you may position the Range a Ruler however you like as long as it touches the
attacking creatures base and is entirely within your forward arc.
If you are about to start a train of attacks originating from a base attack(Close quarters for example), if on
one of the first attacks the creature dies do the subsequent attacks continue against it? Or do the attacks
simply end once the unit has taken enough damage to die?
As per the rulebook, any creature can choose to attack a creature who has sustained lethal damage (even
another creature later in the round). This is to generate crits, or to reduce the effect of powers like the
Wraiths Energy Drain.
When measuring linear attacks, do you hit anything your measure overlaps while flat OR do you
flip it sideways so its closer to a line and aim that way?
For Line Attacks, you keep the Range Ruler flat when determining who is affected.
Can I place a burst on or under an enemy (or friendly for that matter) creatures base?
No. - AP

MOVEMENT
Your maneuvers are limited by the available maneuver templates. If an upgrade increases your speed and
there is not a corresponding movement template, the extra movement is lost.
When rotating Ground Creatures, can they turn up to 90 or 180 degrees, or is it exactly 90 or 180 degrees?
Exactly 90 or 180 degrees. You place a straight 1 maneuver template at the corner to mark the position. - AP
In the rules, it says to rotate the maneuver dial until the window shows only the desired maneuver.
What happens if the dial is ambiguously set between two choices?
For casual play, players must determine the best course of action. For tournament play, it is up to the
store/judges discretion if there is a dispute.
The rules reference performing Overrun Checks when attempting to move through opposing or enemy
Creatures. Do I still need to perform the check to move through my own troops?
No.
Do figures with Incorporeal have to make Overrun Checks when attempting to move through
enemy Creatures?
Incorporeal creatures must make overrun checks as normal.
3

Do you do overrun checks for additional maneuvers such as feint, charge or an additional free maneuver
like Lord Maxamillion?
For Charge and additional maneuvers like the text on Lord Maximilian, yes. Remember that the Feint
Action fails if you cannot perform it without overlapping another creature or obstacle.
Can an incorporeal creature sit inside a object or terrain or can they only move threw it?
As per the rulebook, any creature may end its movement on top of an Obstacle.
Copper dragon does a hard 3 right and flies over the template of a ballista. Does it then do a straight
maneuver to clear the template or does it just do a straight instead of the hard 3 turn?
As per the rulebook, page 27:
If moving past the other figure, use one of the [Straight] Maneuver Templates to continue the flying creatures
move past the other figure, even if it was using a [Bank] or [Turn] when it bumped the ground figure.
The word continue is meant to imply that you still use the original template, but use the [Straight] template
just to keep going until you make it past to the other side. So the copper dragon still performs the hard 3,
and only uses the straight until it clears the ballista. Keep in mind that this is optional. The copper
dragon can choose to stop in front of the ballista if it chooses.
If your flying creature overlaps a ground creatures base you must declare whether you want to fly through
or not before checking to see if you will go past the play area. Is this correct?
Yes, you must declare your intent to move past the ground creature before checking to see if you will end up
outside the play area
Lets say there is a flying creature on the other side. If you try to fly through but cannot fit, you slide
back along your movement template until you are in front of (and touching) the ground creature.
Ive some confusion on what would be correct when this happens during a Turnabout. If above is
correct then the sequence is:
1) Place maneuver template, which results in overlap.
2) Declare intent to fly over say you still wish to turnabout.
3) Attempt to land on the other side, but there is a flying creature preventing you from fitting
4) Instead you land in front....
Do you still get to Flip? Or because you bumped another flying creature you must continue to
face forward?
In this case, you still get to perform the Wingover.
In the above, if it turns out that you cannot place your flyer, do you HAVE to stick with the Wingover, or
can you just change your mind and stay facing forward?
As per the normal rules for Flight vs. Ground Overlapping Advantage, you get to choose whether or not
to change direction.
What happens if my creature receive the STAGGERED crit During the planning phase you cannot
choose a Maneuver higher than 1 and I forget and try to move 2+?
Your opponent would choose a legal maneuver for you (i.e. no higher than 1).

CREATURES
AAROQUA

Also, does the Leader and the V-formation combo, essentially giving you a ranged 4 attack on all targets?
Yes, Aaroquas ability works with V-Formation.

ANCIENT SILVER DRAGON

Vakkas special ability is not an Action, so it triggers even if she is exhausted. The receiving creature must
not be exhausted, however
Does Vakkas special ability to let a friendly creature immediately perform an Action on its Action Bar as a
free Action let you use upgrades like Dwarven Precision for free?
No. Spending a Concentrate Token is not the same thing as performing an Action. However, you
could use Vakka to perform a Concentrate Action as a free Action, which would provide you
with the needed Concentrate Token.
Does this ignore exhaustion and does it allow you to measure the range such as you would when taking
a target action?
This does not ignore Exhaustion. An Exhausted creature cannot take an Action, even if its a free Action.
You would measure range from Vakkas creature base in any direction. If you select a creature who ends
up being out of range, then Vakkas ability is wasted for that turn
Can Vakka give her free action to herself?
No.

BLACK SHADOW DRAGON

How many Defense dice does Umberlis with the Ebon Cloak get to roll normally without using the Darkness
Spell? While using the Ebon Cloak, Umberlis is considered to be always be in darkness, and so gets all the
benefits of being a shadow creature. There is also an Arcane Spell called Darkness. Does Umberlis also gain
the +1 Defense Die from the Darkness Spell even if the spell hasnt been cast?
While wearing the Ebon Cloak, Umberlis only receives the benefits listed on the Shadow Reference Card.
He does not achieve the benefits of the Darkness spell.
So weird question does Umberlis get to roll one attack die when attacking a creature with magic missile if
he is not in that creatures front arc?
Any ability that increases the number of attack dice is only effective if you are rolling attack dice.
So this ability has no effect on Magic Missile.
If I have Umberlis with Ebon Cloak and then activate the spell blur, would I be able to turn 2 concentrates
that I roll into dodges (one for shadow effect and one for blur)?
Yes.

BLUE DRAGON

Does Eshaedra +1 attack dice ability work with any kind of attack that doesnt roll dice, or does a fixed
amount of dice/results of damage? i.e. Ice Storm, Magic Missile, Dispel Magic, Bestow Curse?
Eshaedras ability only works with abilities that involve rolling dice. So while it would work with Ice Storm,
it has no effect on Magic Missile, Dispel Magic, and Bestow Curse.
Does Eshaedras bonus damage continue from turn to turn from effects like Ice Storm?
Yes, assuming the distance between the creatures is maintained.
Does Eshaedra get the bonus damage beyond range 4 for effects like Ice Storm?
No, Eshaedras ability specifically triggers at Range 3 and 4 only.
Does Eshaedras bonus damage work when casting a Fireball spell?
Eshaedra rolls +1 attack die and +1 defense die whenever she is in combat at Range 3 or 4.
Yes. In this case, it is the distance from Eshaedra to the target that matters.
Would Eshaedras bonus damage work when Target A, a large base, that is clearly in both ranges 2 and 3. I
choose to fire a fireball and place it at range 3 to hit him and another target. Because Target As closest point
is at range 2 would I get the extra dice despite the fireball that hits it being at range 3.
You would be considered at Range 2 because that is the distance between Eshaedra and Target A and
not get the bonus.
Does this also apply to Eshaedras breath attack? For instance, if the closest points on our bases is range two,
but I position my lightning breath such that it hits at range 3. Does Eshaedras + 1 attack die ability occur?
No. Although you may position Eshaedras lightning breath however you like, her ability only triggers
if the shortest point between her base and the enemy creatures base is at range 3-4.

BRASS DRAGON

Can Sivart use his special ability to re-enable an upgrade? Could he (for an instance) cast Shield and take
an exhaustion to remove the disabled token from the Shield upgrade?
Yes.
When during the game can Sivart use that free action? In the example used above can Sivart cast Shield and
then immediately use his free action to remove the disabled token and thus takes an exhaustion token?
Sivart may use this ability during the Perform Action step of the Activation Phase.
Yes, he may use this ability to remove the Disabled Token on an Upgrade he just disabled.

BRONZE DRAGON

Arveiaturace is equipped with Close Quarters and Flyby Attack upgrades, is at Range 1 of Balagos and
currently in one of his attack arcs and could use a 3 forward to get out of arc. She attacks first with a Bite
(making Balagos very angry but not quite dead), potentially triggering both of her upgrades. Can she
choose to do both of the immediate Claw attacks before the Flyby Attacks immediate movement?
You may only trigger one of these two cards after performing a Bite attack.

CHIMERA

Can Torquo use the Dive Attack upgrade with Demonic Assault and get a plus one on both the Bite and Horn
Melee Attacks?
They are considered Primary Weapon Attacks since they are listed on Torquos creature card. Therefore, Dive Attack
applies to Torquos Bite and Horn attacks in the correct circumstances.
6

COPPER DRAGON

If there are 2 Copper Dragons equipped with Slow Breath and both hit the same creature will the effect be
assessed twice? Does the affected creature roll - 1 defense die or - 2 die since it was hit twice.
A Creature with an Effect Token cannot receive the same Effect Token again until the first one expires
or is removed.

DROW ELF RANGER

Drizzt and the Warhorse both provide the power After you reveal a non-Pivot Maneuver on your Maneuver
Dial, you may immediately add +1 to your speed. Do these abilities work together (stack)?
A single player cannot trigger more than one immediate effect from the same condition. So therefore Drizzt and
the Warhorse cannot both trigger their abilities after revealing Drizzts Maneuver Dial. - revised rule -

DWARVEN BALLISTA

Is the only damage Calamity can take critical damage? Complete with the effect?
The only damage that ignores Calamitys armor is critical damage. Regular damage can, of course,
also damage Calamity if it exceeds Calamitys armor value.
Can Calamity be damaged by Magic Missile?
No.
What about versus Wraith damage says ignores armor?
The Incorporeal ability says the Wraith penetrates Armor, which Calamitys ability specifically
protects him from.
What if Calamity is hit with a critical hit and the card deals damage? For example: I attack calamity. I roll
one crit hit result. The crit hit card pulled is double damage. Double damage says suffer 1 additional normal
damage and then flip this card face down. Does calamity take the extra damage due to double damage even
though its not a critical hit? Or can it be deflected by my armor?
Yes. Damage is inflicted during the Deal Damage step, which means its too late to deflect the extra
damage with Armor (which is deflected during the previous step).
Do the critical hit effects add to your existing damage roll (making it eligible to be deflected by armor) or is
it considered a separate source of damage. If it is a separate source of damage do you still only take damage
if its a crit hit or exceeds your armor value?
See above. Critical effects occur during the Deal Damage step. Armor does not protect creatures
during this step.
Can Calamity use Power Attack?
Calamity has no melee attacks, so Power Attack would have no effect.

GARGOYLE
If Malebolge was equipped with Stone Jaws to charge an opponents Creature while on the ground, I would
roll 6 attack dice. If one of those is a hit and it damages the opponents creature, would I roll another 6 dice?
Yes.

GREEN DRAGON

Does Claugiyliamatars -1 attack die to creatures in her front arc only apply to physical attacks like bite, claw,
and tail, etc., or does it apply to spell damage like from a fireball or from the horn of blasting?
Claugiyliamatars ability applies to all attacks.
Does Claugiyliamatars ability require Firing Arc or Firing Arc+Range?
This ability only requires that the enemy be in the green dragons firing arc. The enemy creature can be at
any range (1-4) that allows him to attack.
The green dragon uses Derision on one of my dragons that has already moved and used an action to place an
action token near themselves. Derision prevents me from taking an action, so do have to discard the token?
Or, is using/spending an action token not considered an actual action?
Derision issues an Exhaustion Token, which does not negate any previous actions performed by the victim.
Spending an Action Token during the Combat Phase is not considered performing an Action.

HALF-BLACK DRAGON FIGHTER

Pivot is a white maneuver for rezmir, does he remove an exhaustion token when she pivots with
Combat reflexes? (she would receive another afterwards)
Yes.

HUMAN PALADIN

Please verify the correct actions for the Paladin., The action bar on the card differs from the action bar
on the Paladin base plate.
The correct actions are those that are listed on the card: Dodge, Charge, Concentrate
When Ontharr Frum has an exhaustion token, can he use his special ability and get another
exhaustion token or he has to choose a green maneuver to quit the exhaustion token before use it?
Ontharr Frume may use this ability while exhausted, thereby incurring another Exhaustion Token.
Keep in mind, however, that he can only use this ability once during each attack.

MONAVIC DEVA ANGEL

Does the Angelic Paladin (Monavic Deva Angel) count as a Paladin (for example, if it wanted to use
the Human Paladins Challenge upgrade)?
Yes.
Does Sarpiel (the unique Monavic Deva Angel) also count as a Paladin?
No.
Would Leadership or Vakka allow Sarpiel to use his Special Ability?
No.
Can I equip Warhorse to the Monavic Deva Angel, Or am I forced to start the angel in play at flying level
which will automatically discard the Warhorse?
You must start the match flying, so the warhorse will immediately be discarded.

RANGER

When Talon Everhale carries an action token (dodge) to the next turn, can she perform the same action
on this new turn (thereby having two dodge tokens)?
Yes.
Is this the case for any of her action tokens?
This is the case for all of Talons Action Tokens.

SHIELD DWARF FIGHTER

If I took Power attack (you can convert 1 HIT to 1 CRIT) on Ulfgar Ironfist would I then be able to
convert 2 HITS to 2 CRITS if able? Or is it just 1 conversion since they have the same effect?
Yes, Ulfgar may make two conversions at Range 1 with Power Attack. Multiple dice modifiers are allowed,
as per the rulebook.
Im assuming Ulfgar can stack his ability with that of the Power Attack card to turn two hits into
crits since neither says immediately?
Correct.

SUN ELF TROOP

How does the elven troop use feint? Do I perform the feint using my point soldier and then reassemble my
troops around the new finishing point? Or do you put all your troops down after your chosen maneuver and
then use the entire troop formation to perform your feint from?
You always perform your Action (including Feint) before reassembling your Troop.

TIAMAT

Tiamats unique ability states that Instead of attacking normally, Tiamat may make 2 Bite attacks.
Does that mean that when doing a Rear Attack with her tail, she can convert it to 2 Bite attacks as well?
If so, will these 2 Bite Attacks at the rear trigger Close Quarters as well if within Range 1?
Bite attacks on Tiamat are defined on her Creature card as being initiated from her forward arc only.
Regarding the interaction between Tiamats unique ability and Close Quarters, if Tiamat triggers her
unique ability to make 2 Bite attacks at -2 the round on a Charge, would the -2 on the unique ability apply
to Close Quarters as well?
Correct, Tiamats unique ability gives all her attacks a -2 penalty. This is cumulative with the penalty for
Close Quarters.
From what I understand, the premium figure Tiamat would not be playable in the current OP (Tyranny of Dragons) but can be played in future OPs. Can you clarify if this is the case?
You are not allowed to play the Tiamat Premium Figure in any Tyranny of Dragons OP. Any event thereafter
Tiamat is legal for Organized Play at the discretion of the store.

WOOD ELF DRUID

Can you make a basic ranged (bow) attack while in Bear forum?
Yes, you can since the card does not prohibit it.
Does Dragonfly the Greys ability help against Paralyzing Touch?
Yes, because of Dragonflys very specific wording.
9

WRAITH

When a Wraith using Create Spawn delivers a killing blow to a Troop creature, does each figure count
or do you need to kill everyone in a troop unit?
The entire Troop is considered 1 Creature for card text purposes. So when going against a Troop,
you would only create a wraith when you slay the last Soldier in the Troop. - AP
What the timing is for the Create Spawn upgrade?
Create Spawn triggers in the end phase when the defeated model is removed.
If a Wraith is flying and kills an opposing creature who is flying, is the spawned wraith also flying?
The spawned Wraith always enters play flying, regardless of the altitude of the deceased creature.
Does a Wraith brought into play count for OP scoring?
No. A Wraith that enters play due to Create Spawn does not count as part of a players Legion Remainder.
The new Wraith is considered an extension of the original Wraith who used the Upgrade, which
is why it dies if the original Wraith dies.
Do I have to have separate character cards for each generic Wraith I field?
If a player begins the game with 2 generic wraith creatures they may use one Creature Card. However, the
wraiths must clearly be marked so all players know which wraith is which. Additionally, when marking damage
players must place the Damage Cards for each wraith on opposite sides of the generic wraith Creature Card.
For example, wraith 1 takes 2 normal damage. 2 Damage Cards are drawn face down from the damage deck
and placed on the left side of the Creature Card. Wraith 2 then takes 1 normal damage, 1 Damage Card is
drawn face down from the damage deck and placed on the right side of the Creature Card.
Furthermore, when choosing and assigning maneuvers to the wraiths, players should clearly delineate
the maneuver dials from one another to avoid any possibility for ambiguity or confusion.
If player begins the game with 2 generic wraiths and neither has been removed from the game, the
Create Spawn Upgrade would not function unless the player had additional figures/cards/dials/bases/pegs
to represent the newly created spawn. Aside from that situation, the above rules also pertain to a situation
in which a generic wraith is created by another generic wraith using the Create Spawn Upgrade Card
(i.e. a player ends up with two generic wraiths as a result of Create Spawn).
If Maxamillion moves and his Movement template cross over say a dragon but not enough to place his
base down in front does he just bump or can he make a Over Run check since both are in flight?
Overrun checks are only made when a ground creature tries to move through an enemy ground creature.
If Maxs movement template goes completely through a dragon, he can move through the dragon as normal.
If a flying creature does not clear another flying creature, however, then he bumps that creature and
must pull back until their bases are only touching.
What happens if Maxamillion takes 4 damage before he attacks and then heals 1 damage with life drain?
In this case, Max takes lethal damage but is able to survive during the End Phase.
My understanding is the wraith from create spawn is destroyed when the original wraith dies?
If so at what point does the created wraith disappear? End phase or immediately.
The spawned Wraith is not defeated until the End Phase.

10

If Maxamillion leaves an enemy on 1 hp, that creature then hits and critically wounds Maxamillion does the
created wraith get its attack which might very well kill the other creature or is immediately removed? If it isnt
immediately removed and does get the killing blow who won?
As per the rulebook, if all creatures are defeated during the same round, the winner of the match would
be the highest level creature that was removed during the End Phase.

WYVERN

Checking to see that the following works: Wyvern/Blackthorn moves, chooses Charge action.
During attack phase, uses Charge token, then performs Improved Grab attack. This attack is now made at
4 dice (3+1 for Charge). Attack damages the target, wyvern/Blackthorn then performs Primary Weapon Tail
Attack, using the Stinger Upgrade. This attack is made at 7 dice (4+2 for stinger +1 for charge).
This is correct.
You can initiate an Attack: off an upgrade using Improved grab which specifies a Primary Weapon Tail Attack?
Yes.
If the target Soldier is killed by Sulfuric Dagger, do the troop continues to lose a Soldier per Turn for three turns?
Or does the Soldier dies before the Effect Token can be placed?
Yes, the troop would be affected by the Effect Token. Consider this to be splash damage.
Can Blackthorn use his named text ability in combination with swift strike to do a forward melee attack,
discard swift strike and then do a rear melee attack?
Yes.
Is the Wyverns tail attack considered a poison attack for the purposes of triggering deadly venom or
does it need to use the stinger upgrade?
You must use the Stinger Upgrade.

UPGRADES
GENERAL

Can I re-enable a card that is disabled but has time counters on it?
Yes - AP
Are you capable of disabling more than one of your own abilities during an attack? Example- Using
a Wyvern could I disable Improved Grab and then using the second tail attack from the Improved
Grab disable my Stinger to poison?
Yes.
Can a creature have multiple identical effect tokens next to it? i.e. 2 Ray of Enfeeblement effects?
No.
What happens when you are required to discard an upgrade such as the Silver Staff, which grants another
upgrade slot? Do you also lose the additional upgrade?
No. Once the game begins, your Upgrade slots are set.
Can multiple figures share one upgrade card or do I need duplicates of the upgrade card? Example: I want to
equip two figures that have arcane upgrade slots with Magic Missile but I only own one copy of the card.
No, you may not use one upgrade card for multiple figures.

11

Do Disabled Upgrades keep Duration tokens if they are not re-enabled?

Duration Tokens are removed during the End Phase regardless of whether the Upgrade is disabled.
The rulebook is referring to the fact that the Duration Tokens are not instantly removed when the
Upgrade is discarded or when the creature is defeated.
The air elemental has a 360 degree arc, there are some cards that provide a benefit if not in a forward arc.
Is the 360 degree arc a forward arc?
Yes. The air elemental token is considered to attack in all directions, so these abilities do not
function against the air elemental.
I cause my opponent to lose their pearl of power would they in turn lose the two spells contained
within the pearl?
Once the game begins, all of your Upgrade slots are set, regardless of whether you lose Evil Sorcerer,
Pearl of Power, or similar Upgrades.
The Fang of Tiamat/Bahumat says to target creatures lower level than your activating creature.
How does this work along side initiative clashes; Does this mean this upgrade could be activated
against a creature of the same level when your creature has initiative?
Yes.
If I have the Helm of Leadership equipped, do my Universal Upgrades (like Wings of Tiamat/Bahamut)
equipped to a Heroic slot get a discount?
No.

DRAGON UPGRADES

Aerobat Amulet

Does Aerobat Amulet only work for the Flight Maneuver Card and Not the Ground?
Yes.
How should a dragon with the Aerobatic Amulet with a Crippled Damage Card treat turns?
The Aerobat Amulet would continue to protect you in this case.

Close Quarters

Can you use the Close Quarters text more then once a round?
Yes.
Does spending a charge token affect the close quarters attacks as well as the bite?
Yes.

Crush

Does this include movement due to spending a Charge token or using Flyby Attack?
No, this only refers to your normal movement during the Activation phase. It triggers specifically after
the Clean Up step.
If a paladin forces Tiamat to land and she chooses to swoop can she then use her crush?
If Tiamat chooses to land, then she is not in the air which is required by Crush. If she chooses to swoop,
then she may not be able to use Crush because it changes her altitude. Remember that when one card effect
allows something and another forbids it, it is forbidden. -AP

Tiamat has not been Challenged wishes to Crush two puny creatures, one of which has been Challenged
and chose to Swoop. Is the Challenged creature saved from being Crushed? Is it impossible to Crush at
all because one of the creatures cannot change altitude?
The creature who cannot change altitude cannot be crushed.
If a creature is under the effect of charm or fear, can its controller still choose to activate crush?
You may activate Crush, but you cannot perform the 5 dice attack; that part of the text is ignored.
Can Suggestion be used to make attacks that dont have the Action: or Attack: headers, such as Crush?
Suggestion cannot be used to force a creature to activate Crush. That is because the attack portion of the
ability is secondary.
Would this similarly mean that Charm Tokens cannot cause Crush to be activated?
Yes.
Can Bahamut or Tiamat use crush on a large base dragon?
Yes.

Derision

The green dragon uses Derision on one of my dragons that has already moved and used an action to place an
action token near themselves. Derision prevents me from taking an action, so do have to discard the token?
Or, is using/spending an action token not considered an actual action?
Derision issues an Exhaustion Token, which does not negate any previous actions performed by the victim.
Spending an Action Token during the Combat Phase is not considered performing an Action.

Disintegration Breath

Does Bahamuts disintegration breath counteract calamitys impenetrable armor seeing as it states
it ignores armor tokens rather than penetrates them?
Yes.

Evil Sorcerer

So if I use Evil Sorcerer with this that says you may place 3 timers on this upgrade to perform the action on one
of your arcane spell upgrades as a FREE action to activate HASTE then use close quarters to attack two creatures
(with appropriates bonuses and costs), can I then use my normal attack to use my breath weapon or do another
melee attack? I cant find anything in the rules to decide either way as some cards say this attack does not count
towards your attack this turn etc.
You are confusing the terms Action and Attack. Evil Sorcerer simply lets you activate Haste without spending an
Action. It doesnt affect the Combat Phase.
Evil Sorcerer card text reads You may place 3 timers on this upgrade to perform the action on one
of your Arcane Spell upgrades as a free action. First, is this only spells that are actions, which is to say
you use this with haste but not with an attack like disintegrate? Second, does this have to be used during
the perform actions step, or could you wait until the attack step to use it?
It is only used on Spells with Action: text during the Perform Actions step.
Can you replace a spend token (target or concentration) which you dont poses with the Evil Sorcerer
upgrade in a spell like Witch Bolt?
The Evil Sorcerer only lets you perform the Action: text on a Spell Upgrade as a free Action. He has no
effect on Spell Attacks.
13

Frightful Presence

Does the Half-Black Dragon fighter (Rezmir/Dragon Cultist) count as a dragon in regards to Frightful
Presence making the Half-Black Dragon immune to its effect?
Half-Black Dragons are considered Dragons for these purposes.

Human Paladin Dragon Rider

If I take a charge action will the Human Paladin Dragon Rider get the bonus attack dice?
Yes.
You cannot have two or more of the same upgrades on a creature but on the bottom of the Human Paladin
upgrade it says You cannot equip another Dragonrider Upgrade.. Does this means you can have only one
Human Paladin upgrade on your team or if you have two different Upgrades that are Dragonriders
you cannot equip both on the same dragon?
Remember that, as per the rulebook, the word you only applies to the creature with that Upgrade. So
this restriction only prohibits that dragon from having a second Dragonrider.

Legendary Resistance

Legendary Resistance reads You may discard this card at any time to flip one of your face up Damage
Cards face down. Can I do this when I receive a Double Damage! Critical to flip it face down
before receiving the additional damage card?
Yes.
If I am in the air and I am hit with the Paralysis breath, can I use my Legendary Resistance
BEFORE I fall to the ground?
Legendary Resistance can trigger at any time, including the instant that you receive the Effect Token. Therefore,
you may use it to remove a Paralysis Token before any of its effects trigger, including the fall from the sky.
Is this also true for the second option Legendary Resistance? You may discard this card at any time to flip
one of your face up Damage Cards face down. Example: I take a critical hit and draw Shattered,
can I discard Legendary Resistance before my Armor Token is flipped?
Yes.
Can Legendary Resistance protect you against Necrotic Oppression?
No.
Does the windswept token given by wings of Tiamat count as an effect token which can be removed
with Legendary Resistance?
The Windswept Token is considered an Altitude Token, and cannot be removed with Legendary Resistance.
Does Legendary Resistance provides protection against EVERY continuous effect regardless of whether
or not it says to place a token? Does this means Legendary Resistance protects ALL effects that are
directly ON the dragon?
It protects against every Continuous Effect (and these always require an Effect token). If something just stops you
from attacking (with no effect token), then Legendary Resistance cannot save you. When the effect is placed on a
Burst Token (not the creature), then Legendary Resistance cannot be used.
Can Legendary Resistance block Cloudkill?
Legendary Resistance is only effective against Effect Tokens placed on your creature. It has no effect on
Cloudkill or similar effects.
14

Necrotic Oppression

Can this ability be used the same turn as the one in which the target creature is damaged by shadow breath?
It is used immediately after you damage the creature with Shadow Breath.
Can this ability be reused every time shadow breath does damage ?
It may be used each time you damage a creature with Shadow Breath.
It can only target one creature per breath, right?
Correct, only 1 creature can be targeted each time that you use your shadow breath.
Are the upgrades disabled permanently (or until some other ability reinstates them ?
As per the rulebook, the disabled card can be un-disabled by spending an Action.

Paladin Rider

If the dragon is unable to attack due to critical effect, would you be able to use the Paladin rider attack?
No, you would not be able to use the Paladin Rider until the effect ends.

Paralyzing Breath/Touch

Does False Life and Mirror Image protect against Paralysis?

False Life does not offer protection. Mirror Image does offer protection.
If you remove a Paralysis Breaths Paralysis token with legendary resistance, does the corresponding
Paralysis Breath card get discarded when you remove the final time counter?
Yes, although it continues to affect all other Creatures who were hit by the Paralyzing Breath in the meantime.

Primal Hunter

If I have Primal Hunter and use Haste and then attack with Close Quarter I would end up with 6 attacks,
would Primal Hunter activate just once or 6 times, one for each attack?
Since you have to disable Primal Hunter, then it would only work for one attack of your choice.

Searing Flames

Can the Searing Flames upgrade be used to augment a Flame Breath attack? Our group has been
playing that it cannot, but I just wanted to make sure. There doesnt seem to be a secondary effect
for the Flame Breath upgrade yet, unless SF can actually be used.
No.
Would searing flames trigger the extra damage if the victim has an active protection form energy (fire)?
Protection from Energy (Fire) would cancel the damage from Searing Flames.

Sleep Breath

If I use Sleep Breath but fail to cause damage to any creature what happens?
You can keep it and try again. The Continuous Effect only triggers if it at least one figure receives
the Continuous Effect.

Slow Breath

Do target figures get to roll defense dice to avoid the effect of Slow Breath?
No.
15

Snatch

What do we do if there is no range 1 in front for the snatched model? i.e. dragon has moved to the edge
of the play area?
If there is no room for a Snatched creature to place itself, then it leaves the play area. Depending on the
scenario, that either means the creature is defeated or, if there are surrounding walls, the creature places
itself as close to the edge as possible, touching the Snatching dragon on either side.
Are Crushed, Challenged, Sleeping, and Paralyzed creatures immune to being Snatched by a flying creature?
Yes.
Control Weather says you cannot voluntarily change altitude, does it provide protection from Snatch
if the Snatcher is outside of range?
No. Voluntarily is the important word there.
If a creature is already Snatched by a flying creature, is it still vulnerable to Crush, Challenge, Sleep,
Paralysis, Wings of Tiamat/Bahmut and Control Weather?
No.
I f these effects do apply, does a grounded, Snatched creature take falling damage?
The falls to the ground text is referring to the text on the Snatch Upgrade, not to other effects that
might cause you to fall.

System Shock/Searing Flames

Since both Lightning Breath and Fire Breath can possibly target multiple characters, I wanted to confirm
that the decision to use System Shock or Searing Flames had to occur immediately after damage was
applied to a creature rather than after all attacks have been resolved.
When you perform an area attack, you perform Steps 3 - 9 separately for each creature. Therefore, you need
to apply System Shock, Searing Flames (and similar effects) immediately upon inflicting damage to a creature
during Step 9. Once you have moved on to the next creature, it is too late.

Tail Sweep

Can I hit ground units with Tail Sweep if I am swooping, or do I actually have to be on the ground?
As per the text, you must be on the ground.

Toxic Affliction

So a dragon with poison breath and toxic affliction hits an enemy and puts the Toxic Affliction effect on
the enemy. Then the dragon with the toxic affliction card is defeated while there is still time left on the
Toxic Affliction upgrade. Does the effect continue until all the duration tokens are removed are does it
stop as soon as the figure that owns the upgrade is removed from play?
As per the rulebook, the effect continues after the dragon is defeated.

Wing Attack:

Given a primary weapon value of 5, Wing Attack would half it to 3 then add +1 from Battle Cry?
Correct.

16

EQUIPMENT UPGRADES
Using Two Weapons

If I make a Primary Weapon Melee attack do the effects of Frost Battle Axe and Holy Warhammer stack?
i.e. if I attack a neutral creature do I end up with a +2 dice positive/ice attack? +3 dice positive/ice for
attacking evil creatures?
Yes, the effects stack. You are considered to be dual wielding.
If Sarpiel uses Frost Battle Axe and Holy Warhammer against an evil creature, then it would be:
3+1 (Frost Battle Axe) + 2 (Holy Warhammer) = 6 attack die.
A) Would this attack be considered a Cold attack (because of the Frost Battle Axe)- this attack is now
considered a Cold attack or a positive attack- this attack is now considered a Positive attack. Or both a
cold AND positive attack?
A) It is considered both.
B)Would this attack still be considered a primary weapon attack, and thus the energy resistance
would not trigger?
B) It is a Primary Weapon attack as per its text, but it is also considered an Energy attack as per its text. This
text takes precedence over the standard rule that Primary Weapon attacks are not of a particular Energy Type.
C) If I am charging in the air with soaring assault for a forward attack, this would then become
a 6+2 attack =8?
C) Yes.

Blackguards Mail

What does total agility score refer to in the description of Blackguards Mail (... If your total Agility score is
higher than 1, it is considered 1.)? Does that mean, that a creature wearing this can roll at most 1 defense die,
or it just lowers the agility, and the creature gets the extra dice?
For example, if Jarl Horn with Rock Catching (Roll +1 defense die against Primary Weapon Ranged attacks. ...)
and Blackguards Mail is attacked by a primary weapon ranged attack from range 4, how many defense dice
does he get? Does he roll 3 dice or just 1?
This only restricts the Agility score, not the total number of defense dice. So Jarl Horn should have rolled
3 defense dice.
Im trying to equip Jarl Horn and I equip blackguards mail which prohibits Horn from activating arcane spells.
However if I equip Hazirawn too I can add 1 additional arcane upgrade to Jarl Horn. Which takes precedent?
As per the rulebook, when one effect allows something and another effect forbids it, then the effect is forbidden. In
this case, Jarl Horn would be unable to activate Arcane Spells.

Frost Battleaxe

On the bottom of the Frost Battle Axe upgrade card, it says, You can only equip one other Weapon
Upgrade or a Shield Upgrade. Does this mean that you are limited to only two upgrades for this creature
(i.e. the battle axe plus either one other weapon or a shield), or does it mean that you can take either
another weapon or a shield plus any other non-weapon/shield upgrades the creature may be entitled to in
order to fill its upgrade slots?
This means that he can have a maximum of two weapons or one weapon and one shield. He can fill out his other
Upgrades however he sees fit. In the above example, Jarl Horn could take the Blackguards Mail and other
upgrades with no problem.
17

Hammer of Thunderbolts

... you must immediately make an additional 2 Dice [Thunder] Attack against that creature and
every creature withing Range 1 on the same play level.
Does this include the wielder if you both happen to be on the ground or in the air?
Yes.

Horn of Blasting

If the Horn of Blasting survives past 3 uses, do I add a proxy token and roll 4 (or more) dice
on subsequent uses?
Yes.

Improved Overrun

Do creatures(troops) apply armor from this attack, even though its not the battle phase/steps? For
example, The Hobgoblin Troop has 1 armor, so would they not take damage?
Armor applies vs. Improved Overrun. A critical hit will still ignore Armor as normal.
Do the attacks from this actually count as attacks for purposes of upgrade effects?
-For example, could you increase the dice rolled somehow if something gave you more attack dice?
-And does this affect/get affected by cards that stop you from attacking?
-Would these attacks cause cards like Juggernaut Mantel or an activated Invisibility spell
to be discarded?
Improved Overrun is considered an attack for purposes of card effects.

Netherese Relic

If the Netherese Relic is on the half-black dragon cultist, can you only target another creature
on the ground (same level) since its arc is only melee based or can it be used against ground or
air within range 1-2?
This upgrade works against a creature on the ground or in the air. Consider it a ranged effect for these purposes.

Staff of Power

Staff of power says, Attack: Make a 5 dice attack against every creature within range 1 in every direction
(ground or air) Afterwards, You are permanently removed from play. Does it mean the player that
activates the Staff of power now forfeiting the game or does it mean the red wizard is removed?
As per the rulebook, the word you only applies to the individual creature itself.
Staff of Powers first effect, does it count as using that spell or is it just a proxy for the tokens?
You are still using the Spell Upgrade to initiate the attack. The only difference is that you dont have to
pay the Target or Concentrate Token.

Taulmaril

Many equipment cards disallow or limit the ability to equip more weapons. Taulmaril is considered
a Bow but is not listed as a weapon. Is this because you wanted a division between melee and ranged
weaponry, or are bows included in the limitation. For instance: Drizzt is armed with Twinkle and
Icingdeath. Can he still carry Taulmaril, perhaps slung across his back?
A Bow is a different Upgrade Class than a Weapon. This allows Drizzt to carry Taulmaril in addition to his
famous scimitars

18

If I equip my Ancoram (Stone Giant) with Taumaril, when he does a ranged attack, is it considered
a Bow attack or a Rock attack?
If you choose to use Taulmaril for a specific attack, then it is considered a Bow attack. If you choose
not to activate Taulmaril, then you are performing a Rock attack.

HEROIC UPGRADES

Artillery Master

Does Artillery Master acts like a second Target action, where you get to reroll any misses but keep
any hits youve already rolled?
Yes, it acts like a second Target Action.

Bear Form

If Bear Form is lost (example by disarmed critical hit) when does the effects of Bear Form end?
As per the rulebook, a Continuous Effect remains in effect even if the corresponding Upgrade is disabled
or discarded. Remember that Disarmed has no effect on Bear Form, since Disarmed only affects
Artifacts and Equipment Upgrades.

Burrow

Burrow says You are unaffected by Actions or attacks made by other Creatures
Would I be affected by another creatures:
1) Time Stop? - Yes
2) Crush? - The only part of Crush that would affect you is stopping you from changing altitude for the rest
of the round (assuming you chose to discard the Burrow token in the hope of changing altitude).
3) Ice Storm? - No (since Ice Storm is an attack from the other creature, as per other clarifications).
4) Bulettes abilities? - Yes (since this is not an action)
5) would another creature be affected by my bulettes abilities while I am burrowed? - Yes
6) can I use the Challenge upgrade while burrowed? - Yes

Challenge

Can you use challenge against a target already on the ground?

No, Challenge is only effective against creatures in the air. The last sentence is a follow-up to the
previous sentence.
If a creature in the air has an unrevealed flight maneuver when it is targeted by Challenge, can it
choose to land, or must it swoop? If it can land, does it just execute its flight maneuver on the ground,
or does something else happen?
In this case, the creature would receive a ground token but would still execute the maneuver on the
flight maneuver dial as if the creature were on the ground (i.e. no flight vs. ground overlapping advantage).
If I use challenge to force my opponent to land and then he reveals a maneuver that doesnt exist in his
new play level, can he moves normally? Or he cant move this round?
In this case, the creature would receive a Ground token but would still execute the maneuver on the Flight
Maneuver Dial as if the creature were on the ground (i.e. no Flight vs. Ground Overlapping Advantage).
If the selected maneuver on the Flight dial is not present on the creatures ground dial, this does
not create the situation where a player has selected an illegal maneuver allowing their opponent to
select a new maneuver for them? For example, what would normally happen if you had a creature
that was on the ground and the player used the wrong dial and selected an illegal maneuver.
No, a Challenged Creature that chooses to land does not suffer any penalty if his chosen maneuver is not also
on his ground maneuver. If a player simply uses the wrong dial (i.e. having nothing to do with Challenge),
then it is up the TO to rule on what to do.

19

A flying, challenged creature that ends it movement over an obstacle, would suffer the effects of
overlapping the obstacle in the same way they would have if they were on the ground to begin with,
correct? For example, in the OP event 3 with the well, a flying creature that would have safely ended their
movement over the well -- would now loose their action and suffer a die of damage?
If a Challenged Creature chooses to land, then it suffers all penalties for moving on the ground. Remember
that a Challenged Creature can choose to swoop instead.

Cleave

Normally melee attacks can always be used against swooping creatures and swooping creatures can attack
ground units. Does the second sentence make swooping irrelevant, forcing a flying unit to land before
Cleaving ground units? And making it impossible to Cleave swooping units when you are on the ground?
Correct, you must be on the same play level to use Cleave.
Can I use a weapon to make a cleave attack? Twinkle and icingdeath? Adamantine Lance?
Holy Warhammer?
Weapons that use Attack: text cannot be combined with Cleave, since it also uses Attack: text. You could
not use Adamantine Lance or Twinkle & Icingdeath with Cleave. You could, however, use Holy Warhammer,
since it merely enhances your melee attacks and does not use Attack: text.

Demolitions Expert

If I attacked a swooping creature, does Demolitions Expert additional effect only affect creatures that are
swooping, or can it affect grounded and/or flying units as well?
There are only two play levels: ground and air. Demolitions Expert only affects creatures on the same play
level, which in this case would be all creatures in the air (since swooping creatures are in the air).
If Im attacking and hit a creature at range 4, do they get an extra defense die against Demolitions
Experts follow up attack as well?
Yes.

Improved overrun

If I am base to base with troops in a line formation such that two different troop models are touching me,
I move three forward, what is the result of my overrun?
You only roll one dice against the whole troop with the troops owner allocating damage to models that
you moved over.

Manyshot.

A ranger had elected to use the manyshot upgrade and selected two targets on the ground and one in the
air because the card said you may select up to three targets -ground or air-. Does it would work like a
breath weapon, in that you select an elevation and then would see what were targets.
All targets must be on the same play level for Manyshot.
I was wondering about a few spread attacks on troops; Do they roll multiple times or just 1 attack
that each enemy rolls against separately?
If you target more than 1 soldier with Manyshot, then you simply follow the rules for area attacks against
Troops as defined in the rulebook.
For the rangers many shot ability the card says up to 3 different creatures can be targeted, does this mean
1 creature can be targeted 3 times (i.e. 3 separate attacks made on the same one).
No. It must be 3 different creatures and/or soldiers.
20

Power Attack

If use the concentrate action to turn all of the concentrate results to hits, can I then use Power Attack
(During a Primary Weapon Melee attack, you may convert 1 of your Hit results into 1 Critical result.)
to turn one of the new hits into a critical?
Yes, this is legal.

Precise Shot

Precise shot negates the bonus defense die for being at Range 4. Does it also negate the bonus die
granted by Alertness for being at Range 3?
No.

Rapid Reload:

Are these two attack considered primary weapon attacks

Yes, any attacks made with Primary Weapons are considered Primary Weapon attacks.
When using Rapid Reload it says make 2 attacks at -1 die. Can the attacks be at 2 differing targets?
If so, do you have to declare both before rolling, or can you do one attack, then do the second on after
you see the result?
You can divide the attacks however you like. You can wait to see how the first attack goes before
declaring your second target.

Righteous Fury

Will Righteous Fury trigger off of an Upgrade Melee Attack? i.e. if I hit with Twinkle and Icingdeath or
Adamantine Lance can I discard Righteous Fury and get a second melee attack?
Yes.
Can I use an Upgrade Melee Attack like the Lance for the extra attack that Righteous Fury gives me?
Yes, because this is an extra attack.

Swallow Whole

What happens if the swallowing creature is killed and thus no longer on the board when the
swallowed effect ends?
As per the card text on the Swallowed Whole Upgrade Card (with you referring to the owner of the
Swallowed Whole Upgrade): If you receive lethal damage (or if the Giant Toad is discarded), this effect
ends immediately. Since the effect ends immediately, the creature inside the Giant Toad escapes at that time
(as per the Reference Card). He escapes right away during the Combat Phase, since thats when the creature
with the Giant Toad receives the lethal damage.
Would the released creature would be able to attack even if its level number had already passed (as
the highest level creature that hadnt attacked?
Yes.

Warhorse

If I use warhorse I can add +1 to my speed. For example if Ontharr Frume chooses 3 forward, can
he move 4 forward although this movement is not in his maneuver dial?
Yes.
21

MONSTER UPGRADES

Alertness

Does alertness stack In essence giving a creature +1 at 3 and +4 at range 4?

No, it merely extends the +1 defense die to Range 3.

Awesome Blow

Can a creature be forced off the edge of the play area and defeated in that way with this upgrade? If the
affected creature ends its straight maneuver overlapping the base of another creature does it stay there or
does it follow the overlapping rules for activation?
Yes, the creature can be defeated if it is knocked out of the play area in this way. If the victim is overlapping
another creature at the end of the movement, then use the normal rules for bumping into other figures. If the
victim is flying and bumps into a ground creature, then the victim chooses whether or not to move past
the ground creature.

Captivating Song

How does not being able to attack due to Captivating Song affect adding Duration Tokens,
disabling/discarding cards and spending tokens?
A creature affected by Captivating Song cannot attack, so all costs involved with initiating an attack are not paid.
Am I correct in assuming that this also activates against friendly troops in the area of effect as well?
Correct.
Captivating Song adds only 1 duration token for the action; the effect only sticks around for that
1 combat round and then its discarded during clean up phase?
Captivating Song lasts for 1 round.
Normally an Upgrade Card with discard is discarded when it has caused an effect (such as
False Life). In the case of Captivating Song, is the Harpys singing the effect? In other words: is
it discarded at the end of the turn you sing no matter what, or is it only discarded if the
singing prevents another creature from attacking?
The Effect Token is placed on the Harpy, so the effect takes place regardless of whether she actually
stops another creature from attacking.

Collision

Does collision forbids the interaction with cards like Pounce, Rake and stone jaws?
Yes, you cannot attack again after making a melee attack.

Corruption:

Can I use it to change my Harper Elves evil, in order to use the Amog upgrade? Or is this card
intended to only change effects through the play of the game?
Yes, you can use this to allow non-Evil Creatures to equip Evil-only Upgrades.

Cruelty

When used, Cruelty allows the attacker to ignore one of the defenders armor tokens during
the deflect hits step of combat. What does it mean to ignore an armor token?
For that one attack, consider the defending creature to have one fewer Armor Token. For future attacks,
the defending creature is considered to have all of its Armor Tokens. Unlike attacks that penetrate Armor,
Cruelty is effective against Calamity.
22

Who gets to choose which of the armor tokens is ignored?

The creature with Cruelty chooses.
How long does the effect of this Cruelty last?
Just for that one attack

Demonic Assault

Demonic assault permit me to make 3 attacks, 1 bite attack, 1 horns attack and 1 breath attack.
When can I spend my charge token?? If I spend my charge token at the beginning I cant use breath
attack because after use charge I only use melee attacks. Can I use breath attack first, then use charge
token and then use bite attack and horns attack?
Yes.

Freeze

Is the intent of the upgrade that it works like Calamitys special ability, in that regular or armor
penetrating, except for critical hits, must get by the armor first? Or is it that the upgrade blocks all
hits, even criticals, so that all hits must get by the armor first?
Freeze does not allow you to block critical hits, which ignore armor. -AP

Monstrous Aim

I was wondering if this would apply for all targets of say, Aarakocra troops V-formation attack?
Or just 1 target?
No. Monstrous Aim only applies to one single attack roll.

Swift Strike

Can I attack one of my own creatures with a melee attack to trigger Swift Strike?
Yes.

Teleportation of the Sphinx

Is Teleportation of the Sphinx considered a spell in regards to other cards like Counterspell, Silence, etc?
The reason I ask is that the subtype is listed as Arcane Spell even though it is a monstrous upgrade.
Yes.

CAMPAIGN ARTIFACT UPGRADES

For Organized Play, how many Campaign Artifacts can you include in your army?
You can have either 1 normal Campaign Artifact OR up to 6 Campaign Artifacts of Bahamut or Tiamat.
The reference card for the Adornments of Tiamat says I can use multiple artifacts of Tiamat. Is this still restricted
to the unique rule, or can I have, for example, 3 Scales of Tiamat in my legion?
Each Artifact is unique, so you cannot include multiples of the same Artifact in your legion.
Can you have both Tiamat and Bahamut artifacts in your legion?
No.

23

SPELLS
GENERAL

For Ray of Enfeeblement and similar spells where the duration tokens go on the upgrade card, but the
continuous effect token is on another creature. Is the target of the effect affected only while there are
duration tokens still on the upgrade card, or does it persist beyond that?
As per the Rulebook, page 25:
During the End Phase (or at any other time), if an Upgrade loses its last duration token, the Continuous
Effect ends and the corresponding Effect Token(s) are removed from the play area and placed back on top of
their corresponding Upgrade Card. Once an Upgrade loses its last duration token, then the Effect ends, no
matter who was affected by it.

ARCANE SPELLS

Bigbys Hand

If Tiamat attack first with Bigbys Hand, must I roll -2 attack dice if I want to use Tiamats ability later?
If you attack with Bigbys Hand at full attack dice, you will be unable to use Tiamats special ability. It affects
all of your attacks during that round.

Charm

How does this Charm with something like Cloudkill? Is the Charmed creature considered to have been
attacked? If I force the charmed creature to place a cloudkill burst token that would affect a friendly
creature will evade dice be rolled?
The person casting Cloudkill is considered to be attacking in both circumstances.
If the creature who placed the charm token is killed, who chooses things for the charmed creature?
The effect persists after the creature is defeated, just like all effects. So the defeated creature would continue
to control the Charmed Creature.
Is a charmed creature friendly to itself ? If I play a burst attack from a charmed creature and it would
affect the charmed creature, but no other friendly creatures, does it roll the evade dice?
No.

Counterspell

Counterspell does not say it is an Action or an Attack it just says to discard. So, can I use Counterspell
at the end of my turn after I have attacked to get around the restriction?
You must activate Counterspell at the moment that the opponent tries to cast a spell. If this occurs after
you have attacked (i.e. because you are a higher level), then you have avoided the no attack restriction.

If I Counterspell an opponents Time Stop, is the Time Stop discarded?

The Time Stop would have no effect as per wording of the Counterspell, so the Time Stop
would not be discarded.

24

Darkness

If I cast the Darkness Spell and fail to get the burst token inside my arc at range 1, what happens?
Does it get a Duration Token? Does it get discarded?
It still receives the Duration Tokens, but the spell fails so the Continuous Effect never begins.
That means the spell is not discarded.

DeathWard

Would Death Ward activate before Maurghoros could remove the model from the table using his
special ability?
Death Ward would trigger first because it triggers while the Damage Cards are being placed. Maurghoross
power (and similar abilities) do not trigger until all Damage Cards are finished being applied.
Note that this technically means that DW triggers first even if Maurghoros happens to place an exact
amount of damage to kill the Creature with DW running.
Death ward Specifies for a troop that no further damage is taken from an attack even if its an
area of effect attack. An example of my understanding is this;
Troop activates death Ward
Troop takes 5 damage (any source)
1 damage card is applied equaling the health value of the troop.
1 damage card is removed as per the text for death ward.
all other damage is canceled due to death ward.
Troop has effective canceled the entire attack!
Yes, that is exactly how it works.

False Life

Do you get to choose which Damage Cards go under False Life or do you place the first two Damage
Cards you receive under it?
You must add the first 2 Damage Cards since it doesnt say may.
With false life active, do you first suffer the effects of a critical hit and then place the card under False Life
or do you bypass turning the cards face up and just place them under False Life?
You do not suffer the critical effects of any Damage Cards placed beneath False Life.
Does damage applied to False Life affect scenario rules where damage causes you to drop items (first
scenario and OP2 are examples).
Yes. You are still being damaged, even though that damage is being absorbed by the False Life spell.
Does False Life taking all the damage prevent effects such as System Shock?
No, as per above.
If you have put one Damage Card beneath False Life, can the various healing effects be used to remove
the Damage Card so that False Life will not be discarded when the Effect ends?
You cannot heal the damage beneath False Life.
Do Damage Cards placed under False Life affect whether Balagos gets a bonus die?
No.

25

Can False Life protect a creature from an attack with Magic Missile?
Yes.
So theres been some talk about the spell card False Life even after the 2 duration tokens are taken
off that the effect sticks around until you use it? Or do you need to recast?
You need to recast False Life.

Fireball

In the rule book (page 26) it shows the Fireball card and I just want to clarify that when it says Make a
3 dice attack against every creature that is touching or within Range 1 of the burst token (ground or air).
that you target either all ground troops or all fliers.
Youre correct- the Fireball, like most area effect attacks, can only be directed against either critters on the
ground OR critters in the air; there are some exceptions in the expansions, and the wording on those
makes the difference clear. - MOD

Fly

The fly spell says that I can choose to use the fly maneuver dial at the start of the planning phase,
even if Im not currently flying. Does doing so make me flying (do I put the fly token next to my base?)
If I do so, can I then land after I move?
Yes and yes.
Does landing count as the Fly spell ending? Do I need to re-use Fly as my action next turn if I land or am I
like a dragon now and can take off and land at the end of activation? Can I end the effect voluntarily if I
want to for some other reason?
Landing does not end the effect. You can take off and land as long as the effect persists. You cannot
end the effect voluntarily.
Can a Troop like Harper Legion Elves use the Fly spell?
Yes, your Harper Legion Elves can definitely learn to fly!
What if my character ended the last turn in the air? During the new planning phase am I then forced
to only utilize the flight dial, or can I essentially land and use my ground maneuver dial?
You must use your Flight dial until you land during the Change Altitude step.
Are you considered flying the round you cast fly? Or as the action came after the altitude change are you
still on the ground and can choose to take of next turn?
No. You must wait until the following rounds Planning Phase or Change Altitude step to take off.
Does control weather\Challenge spells effect creatures using the flight spell like any other
normal flying character?
Yes.
Can a small based flying creature be the target of the fly-spell? And if it does can it then choose
between its regular flight dial and the fly-spell dial?
Yes and yes. -AP

26

Haste

Haste states you can make two separate attacks using a primary weapon, does Close Quarters trigger after
each attack, once after both attacks are over, or does it not trigger?
Example: Balagos is facing and at range one of its target with a primary attack value of 5. Having
triggered Haste after his movement, he attacks twice using his primary weapon bite. Is the attack
sequence: 4-3-3-4-3-3, 4-4-3-3, or 4-4?
If you Bite at Range 1 with Haste + Close Quarters, then you would receive a total of 6 reduced attacks:
4-3-3-4-3-3. The -2 from Close Quarters is the only subtraction that would be made since the extra attacks
are generated by Close Quarters and not Haste.
Keep in mind that the target gets to roll its full defense dice against each attack and use all of its Armor
Tokens against each attack.
If youre using Haste, can the two separate attacks be made against the same creature, or must they be
against two different creatures?
Yes, both attacks can be used against the same creature.
What constitutes attacking normally with a Primary Weapon? Several particular cases:
Does attacking normally prohibit enhancements from an upgrade?
No. Enhancements are fine.
What about the new normal? Can Tiamat make four attacks at -3 dice each? (Or one at -2 and
two at -3, presumably.)
No. This also says instead of attacking normally and is not a normal attack.
How about replacing attacks that are generated from upgrades? It seems that Close Quarters would
provide an unlimited number of Bite, Claw and Tail attacks if you could trigger from the Primary
Weapon Claw attack.
No.

Ice Storm

You are still considered to be attacking when Ice Storm triggers. The Continuous Effect does not say that
you are simply rolling attack dice. It specifically says make a 2 Dice Attack. So if you cant attack for
whatever reason, then Ice Storm does not trigger.
Ice Storm and Cloudkill allow you to make a special attack during the End Phase. This special attack does not
count as your 1 attack for the round. Keep in mind that the act of placing the Burst Token for these spells is an
Attack: during the Combat Phase, but you may still make the consequent attack during that rounds End Phase.
A creature is considered to be attacking even if it is making an upgrade attack such as Ice Storm.
This means that effects like Favored Enemy will affect Ice Storm. Also, effects that prevent you from attacking
will also affect Ice Storm. Soaring Assault will not work since you cannot initiate a ranged attack (even the
one from ice storm) after you have charged.
A Stunned Critical card does prevent the caster of Ice Storm from attacking with Ice Storm.
Do Frost Giants get any kind of defensive bonus against the Ice Storm spell since they are both Cold-typed?
Yes, Cold Creatures receive 1 Dodge result against these attacks, even though it is not the Combat Phase
and regular combat tokens cannot be spent.
27

Invisibility

If I dont attack while under the effect of invisibility, I dont have to discard it when the time is up?
Correct - AP
When you attack while having the invisibility spell active and it flips to red, Do you at end of turn have to
discard the invisibility spell like a one shot spell?
Yes. You must also remove the Effect Token during the End Phase, which means you are no
longer considered invisible.
As you can do you actions/free actions in any order can you use the free feint action mentioned on
the invisibility upgrade the turn you activate invisibility?
Yes.
The upgrade card invisibility says it is discarded if you attack and flip its token to its red side in the
end phase. It does not mention if the card is discarded if the effect wears off naturally via the duration
tokens. Can you confirm if the card is discarded in that situation?
No, it is only discarded if you attack while Invisibility is currently in effect.

Magic Missile

If a creature targeted by Magic Missile has a dodge token, can it spend the token to add a dodge
result even though it didnt make a defense roll?
No. Since no defense dice are rolled, the defense dice cannot be modified by any effects.

Protection from Energy

If my Balagos (Fire element) dragon chooses Fire element for his Protection from Energy, does
he now negate 2 damage from every Fire element attack?
Yes, he does.

Sleep

If an initiative 10 character is effected by sleep at the start of the turn and an initiative 6 character damages
the slept character during the attack phase. The init. 10 character wakes up and performs as normal in the rules.
Does that mean it can still attack that turn or does it lose its attack for that turn or does it lose the attack
because the initiative level has already been passed in the attack sequence?
The level 10 character would attack right after being attacked in this case, as he would immediately
become the next highest character who hadnt attacked.

Stone Skin

Does Stone Skin use the printed Primary Weapon Value of the attacker to determine how many fewer dice are
rolled? Is its continuous effect cumulative with other cards and abilities that reduce dice. i.e. Close Quarter?
Stoneskin refers specifically to PWV, not to the number of dice you are rolling. So use the printed PWV in most
cases. However, anything that specifically modifies the PWV (e.g. Confusion Spell) is applicable here.

Suggestion

Can you use the Suggestion Spell to suggest no action and no attack?
Yes.
Can you use Suggestion to select actions and attacks from upgrades? For example, Staff of Power?
Yes.
28

Can Suggestion be used to make attacks that dont have the Action: or Attack: headers, such as Crush?
Suggestion cannot be used to force a creature to activate Crush. That is because the attack portion of the
ability is secondary.
Can the attack pick for Suggestion be No Attack or do you have to choose melee, ranged, etc?
It can be no attack.
If I cast suggestion on a creature who has already placed a token next to it can I use suggestion choosing no
action to prevent them from spending that token this round or do I have to wait until next turn to
choose that creatures action?
Suggestion has no effect on actions chosen previously. So in the round the you cast Suggestion, you are correct
that there is no way to effect that rounds action. You would, however, affect their action in the next round.
Suggestions makes no mention of a token , so is Legendary Resistance ineffective against Suggestion?
Suggestion forces the Creature to receive the Continuous Effect, so yes, you can use Legendary Resistance against it.
Can Suggestion be used to make attacks that dont have the Action: or Attack: headers, such as Crush?
Suggestion cannot be used to force a creature to activate Crush. That is because the attack portion of
the ability is secondary.
I suggest a creature to attack with its tail and there is only a friendly creature inside the rear arc
can he choose(not) to attack a friendly creature?
The victim of Suggestion can choose a target that is out of range or arc, in which case the attack fails.

Summon Air Elemental

If the creature that summons the air elemental cannot attack this turn does that mean the air
elemental also cannot attack the same turn it is created (since the reference card says the air elemental
is under the control of the creature who summoned it? Or is it simply a creature with the same level as
the creature who summoned it?
The Air Elemental can attack the same turn that it is summoned. It is a different creature than the
creature that summoned it.
When is the Air Elemental removed from play due to damage? Is it removed immediately like a troop
or is it removed during the end phase like every other creature?
After receiving lethal damage, it is removed during the End Phase.
If an Air Elemental is immune to critical hits do you still penetrate its armor when it is hit with a critical?
Example: Air Elemental is hit for one critical hit damage. Does it bounce off the armor, or do I take
one regular damage?
It is immune to critical effects (not immune to critical hits). So critical hits ignore armor and damage the
Air Elemental as per the normal rules.
What is the Air Elementals play level, fly or swoop?. Can I change its altitude? Because if it attacks are
considered melee, it cant attack ground and air.
The Air Elemental is flying, not swooping. However, when it attacks, it moves blindingly fast and moves
swiftly from ground to air and vice versa during these attacks. As soon as it is done attacking, it returns
to its position in the air.

29

Time Stop

If you cast Time Stop and there is an Ice Storm in effect, will it continue to do damage to Objects which
are not creatures (like the Castle Towers in the Elf Wizard Scenario, or the Gates in OP2)?
Objects that can be damaged are treated like creatures for card text purposes, so those objects
cannot be damaged during Time Stop.

Tome of Naming

Can Tome of Naming be used to make ongoing effects last longer?

Yes, you would extend an existing effect with this, so it would be a bad idea to use this against an enemy
with such an effect running. Although you can normally attack friendly creatures, this Upgrade
specifies enemy Creature.

Wish

What happens if the target spell is disabled or has Duration Tokens on it? Damage cards in the case
of False Life?
You steal the spell and all elements that are currently on it.
In the case of a currently active spell that affects yourself (such as Invisibility) does the Effect Token
move to you after you cast Wish? In the particular case of Invisibility, will it flip to the red side?
If you steal a spell that is currently in effect, the effect remains active on the original creature until the effect
expires. If the original creature with Invisibility attacks, then the token will flip over to the red side as normal.
How do we score this? Does the creature using Wish gain LP and the target lose LP?
Correct.

DIVINE SPELLS

Barkskin

When the Barkskin spell ends, can I choose to remove one of my shattered armor tokens
instead of a face-up one?
Yes
Is Barkskin a zero cost upgrade for creatures with no armor?

Yes.

Blade Barrier

Does this effect still apply to a creature that attempts to make a melee attack but fails because it is
out of range?
If a creature declares you as the target of a Melee Attack and the creature discovers that it is out of range,
the targeting fails and the Blade Barrier does not trigger.
Blade Barrier damage happens before the triggering attack and any critical damage effects inflicted will
apply before the attack is rolled, correct?
Yes, the Blade Barrier damage happens before the triggering attack and critical effects are applied
before the attacker proceeds with his attack.
Can the blade barriers counter attack take advantage of the various weapon cards that may add
attack dice such as frost battle axe or holy war hammer?
No, because Blade Barrier is not a Primary Weapon attack.
30

Is Blade Barrier triggered by attacks from Close Quarters?

Yes.

Call Lighting

Does Call Lightning always penetrate armor, or does Control Weather have to be in play for
penetrate armor to work?
Call Lightning always penetrates Armor.

Command

Does Command let you choose or change the targets altitude?

No.
When you use Command set the maneuver dial to Pivot, who determines the facing of the creature/troop?
For the Command Spell, the victim determines his own facing. The Command Spell simply allows the
caster to select the maneuver during the Planning Phase.
When you use Command to set the maneuver dial to Pivot, who determines the facing of the creature/troop?
For the Command Spell, the victim determines his own facing. The Command Spell simply allows the
caster to select the maneuver during the Planning Phase.

DeathWard

Would Death Ward activate before Maurghoros could remove the model from the table using
his special ability?
Death Ward would trigger first because it triggers while the Damage Cards are being placed. Maurghoross
power (and similar abilities) do not trigger until all Damage Cards are finished being applied.
Note that this technically means that DW triggers first even if Maurghoros happens to place an exact
amount of damage to kill the Creature with DW running.
Death ward Specifies for a troop that no further damage is taken from an attack even if its an
area of effect attack. An example of my understanding is this;
Troop activates death Ward
Troop takes 5 damage (any source)
1 damage card is applied equaling the health value of the troop.
1 damage card is removed as per the text for death ward.
all other damage is canceled due to death ward.
Troop has effective canceled the entire attack!
Yes, that is exactly how it works.

Entangle

Does the effect of entangle place a token by the Burst Token, or by the affected creatures?
The Effect Token is placed beside the Burst Token.
Can a dragon in the area of effect of Entangle use Legendary Resistance?
Legendary Resistance cannot be used against Entangle.
31

Faerie Fire

Does faerie fire affect the number of defense dice you roll against paralyzing touch?
No, the defense dice rolled against Paralyzing Touch cannot be increased or decreased.

Prayer of Healing

If you assign this Prayer of Healing to the Zhentarim warband that has Amog can you discard it and
replace 2 previously killed troops?
No. As per the rulebook, when a soldier is removed from play, all Damage Cards are removed from the troop.

Regenerate and Time Stop

Say I am Tiamat if I cast regenerate then during the next round I cast Time Stop I would continue to heal
but not remove any DTs due to Time Stop correct? Then after Time Stop ends I would continue he
healing for another two rounds effectively healing 5-6 health (depending on the order in which you cast
the 2 spells) correct? In other words Time stop does not prevent continuous effects from happening
just removing the DTs
Correct.

TROOPS
Are individual troops creatures or is the unit considered one creature?
A soldier is an individual unit within the troop. A troop (consisting of all soldiers) is considered 1 creature.
For Normal attacks on a Troop is the damage sustained by single soldiers, or by the Troop as a whole,
with the rule that for every X damages, you remove a soldier (maybe the one that had been targeted
during the last roll where X damage was reached?). Does it carry over the turns?
When a Troop receives damage, you place the single Damage Card face down beside it, eliminate the Soldier,
and then remove the Damage Card from play. As stated on page 31:
If a single soldier sustains enough Damage Cards to equal or exceed the Troops Health Rating, that soldier
is immediately defeated; do not wait until the End Phase. Remove the figure from the play area, remove
the top Troop Token from the Creature Card, and remove all Damage Cards from the Troop. The damage
does not carry over to the rest of the Troop. - AP
When a troop is targeted with a standard attack (i.e. bite) and the attacker draws line of fire to the point troop,
is the point troop the troop that is killed or is the removal of a troop the at the discretion of the troop owner?
With a normal attack, the attacker chooses which soldier to attack, which may be the point soldier.
With an AOE attack all units in the AOE are affected by the AOE at the discretion of the troop owner, right?
Example: Three troops are in the AOE range (2 standard, 1 point). Two damage is dealt by the AOE. The
troop owner determines which two troops (within the AOE) are removed?
Correct, against an Area Attack, as per the rules, the owner of the troop decides the order that the soldiers
take damage, which allows him to spare the point soldier in many circumstances.
Disperse: if a breath attack hits multiple targets in a troop i can discard this card after rolling the first attack
against the first effected troop to prevent the attack hitting any others in the troop?
No, as per the rulebook, the breath weapon is considered a single attack against the entire Troop. That
ability can be used to protect the Troop from multiple single attacks like those provided by Close Quarters,
Rapid Reload, Haste, etc.
32

How does the elven troop use feint? Do I perform the feint using my point soldier and then reassemble my
troops around the new finishing point? Or do you put all your troops down after your chosen maneuver and
then use the entire troop formation to perform your feint from?
You always perform your Action (including Feint) before reassembling your Troop.
Can a Troop like Harper Legion Elves use the Fly spell?
Yes, your Harper Legion Elves can definitely learn to fly!
If a troop has Amog the Hobgoblin Shaman Leader as part of his troop is Amog considered the point troop?
No.
The Leadership upgrade card states: Must be a unique Creature to equip.
Can Leadership be equipped to a unique Troop such as the Harper Legion Elves or the Zhentarim Warband?
Yes, Leadership can be equipped to a unique Troop. In this case, measure range from any Soldier in the Troop.
How are partially killed troops scored legion point wise?
When determining the opponents Legion Remainder, use the current cost of his Troop based on the topmost
remaining Troop Token.
Troops Reassemble after an enemy creature performs an action you may discard this card to choose a new
Point soldier for this round. You may then immediately create a new formation with your troop.
The question is can you change you facing well selecting the new point soldier?
No.
There are several special abilities that grant some sort of bonus when the target model does not
have the attacking model in its own front arc. When the defending model is part of a troop, is that bonus
granted when none of the troops models have the attacker in any of their front arcs, or is this bonus
calculated strictly with respect to the point troops front arc? Or just the specific troop model being
targeted by the attack?
Only the point soldiers front arc matters for these purposes.
If the target Soldier is killed by Sulfuric Dagger, do the troop continues to lose a Soldier per Turn for
three turns? Or does the Soldier dies before the Effect Token can be placed?
Yes, the troop would be affected by the Effect Token. Consider this to be splash damage.
In the elf troop I got two movement and two of each unit card, was this so that I could build two separate
groups of elf troops say 3 and 3 or 2 and 4?
Yes. You can build two small Troops from the same package. Each Troop would be considered a separate
creature with its own Point Soldier. As per the rulebook, you measure all attacks from the Troops Point Soldier.
When scoring a partial troop, would you also account for upgrades or would those points only come
into play if the troop were entirely defeated? So, just a hypothetical troop... say their top value is 25 for
6 troops (Sun Elf Archers) and you have killed three of them. The cost on the card for three troops is 16.
Now if they had two upgrades worth 5 points, would the legion point remainder be calculated as
9 LP (25 - 16 = 9) or 14 (30 - 16 = 14)?
You would count the upgrades like you would on any creature. In your example, the legion remainder
would be 21 (16 for the top Troop Token + 5 for the Upgrades).

33

How do you count points for a Troupe that has been partially eliminated?
For partially eliminated Troops, use the LP showing on the current topmost Troop Token.
Since Limnen allows you to pull from the bottom of the stack, soldiers eliminated with an active
Limnen upgrade may count for nothing?
Correct.
Im requesting clarification on the timing of multiple attacks on a Troop, such as from Close Quarters or
from Rake/Pounce. For instance, lets say a Dragon is in range 1 of a Troop and opts to Bite / Claw1 / Claw2,
starting with the Point Soldier. Is this Sequence correct:
Bite Point Soldier, killed. Remove model and top tile. Claw1 RAF Soldier, killed. Remove model and
top tile. Claw2 RAF Soldier. Remove model and top tile. Roll for morale, removing runners and tiles.
- Agility increases, one roll for morale?
Yes, that is the correct way to resolve the attack.
If Troops are equipped with Combat Reflexes or Focused and they opt to pivot, does the unit re-form
immediately or do they stay in place until their next movement phase?
The troop reforms immediately if it uses Combat Reflexes or Focused to pivot.
Can a troop in a temporary illegal formation use a formation upgrade? For example, assume that my
troop is in 3 lines of 2 soldiers when a breath attack kills the soldiers in the middle line. What if the
troop is pressed? Is a column with a gap in it okay to use Column Formation?
Yes, a troop in an illegal formation can use a formation upgrade, as long as all of the other parameters of the
formation upgrade are met.
Pressed soldiers are not considered when deciding if a particular formation upgrade is legal to use.
Column Formation will work if there is a gap in the column.
Having a gap due to dead soldiers, however, would not prevent the use of Column Formation as long
as you still had at least 3 soldiers left.
When using Reassemble, can the new point soldier be the same soldier thats currently your point soldier?
(i.e. If you want to change the formation but want to keep the existing point soldier).
Yes.

OBSTACLES
If my base is frontaly just touching the obstacle, the maneuver template will inevitably touch the
obstacle when I separate from it, will I receive the same penalties? (no actions and damage)
As per the rulebook, you do not receive the penalties again when you separate from an obstacle.
If my base is lateraly just touching the obstacle and the manouver template touches again the
same obstacle while Im moving, will I suffer the penalties?
Touching the obstacle on the edge does not incur the movement penalties. You must at least partially
overlap the obstacle to receive those penalties.
Its specified that creatures in the air can land over ground obstacles without penalties, can they
change altitude in an air obstacle without receiving penalties?
No, if they hit an air obstacle while in the air, they receive the penalty right away. In fact, if they choose
to land on a ground obstacle, they do receive the penalty. They must stay in the air over a ground obstacle
to avoid the penalty.
34

If my creatures base is overlaping an obstacle and upon finishing my movement Im still overlaping the
same obstacle (lets say I pivoted) will I receive the penalties?
Yes, since you did not separate from the obstacle during your movement.
Do I receive penalties with aditional moves like charge, L,Max special action movement or
even teleportation?
Yes. But remember that Max is immune to obstacles.

ADVENTURE PACKS
What is the order to play the adventure packs for a campaign?
Claugiyliamatar the green dragon,
Lord Maximillian the wraith,
Nymmestra the Sun Elf wizard,
Jarl Hoern the frost giant,
Calamity the dwarven siege weapon,
Zhentarim Warband (the hobgoblin troop),
and the Harper Legion Sun Elf troop. - MOD

ORGANIZED PLAY
When time is called for a battle round in an OP-event and both players have creatures remaining and
have the exact same amount of scenario points. How should that be handled? Is there any official rule
for that situation or is it up to the judge to decide how its handled?
In this rare case, the players should each roll an equal number of dice, and victory for the round should
be given to the player who rolls the most Concentrate results.
If this situation occurs when determining the winner of a tournament, the venue may elect to do a
final showdown between the two players to determine victory.
Now that the Bahamut Premium figure is available to all in retail is he or any of the cards
he comes with legal for OP events?
Anything that has been officially release for more than 1 week is legal. This mean Bahamut, and the
materials that come with him, will be legal for the World Championship at Origins.
Are Bahamut and Ossalur legal in Organized play?
The legality of Bahamut and Ossalur is up to the venues running the events.
The OP Rules state specifically that Tiamat is not allowed in the first 6 OP events. However, now that a
few people have Bahamut and/or the huge silver dragon in their hands, the question has to be asked
about their legality for OP events 1-6?
The legality of Bahamut and Ossalur is up to the venues running the events.

35

How does Legion creation work in combination with the blind boosters for OP Events 2 through 6? Am I
supposed to bring a legion of up to 90 points, lock it in, and then get a blind booster to supplement? Or do
I get the blind booster first, and commit to all 120 points of the legion all at once?
You bring your 90 point legion to the event. You then receive your blind booster, and can build up to
30 points from the booster. Upgrades cannot be swapped between your 90 point legion and your blind
booster. You cannot alter your 90 point legion after receiving your blind booster. This overrides the
official Organized Play Instruction Sheet, which states:
Players will be given 1 random Booster Pack and must use at least 30 LP from this booster pack (including
the figure and/or any Upgrade cards).
Can we use figures and upgrades from the blind boosters as part of the 90 points in our OP builds? Or are
these restricted as long as they are being used for the blind booster? If so when can these be used?
Example: I own the Human Paladin having drawn it in a blind booster from an OP2 event. Can I use the
Hand of Fury in a subsequent OP2 or future OP event as part of the 90 point legion in the 90 +30 format?
You may normally use cards from your Reinforcement Boosters as part of your 90 point build at your
next tournament. However, some venues may specify that this is not allowed until OP 3.
If I use a blind booster in my 90 point build and draw the same booster for the OP event. What are the
rules if I cannot build the 30 point booster because I used most of the unique cards in my 90 point build?
You would only be able to use the other version of the creature, as well as any non-unique upgrades (or
unique upgrades that were not in the 90 point portion of your build).
For counting scenario points for the OP events, how do you count upgrades equipped at a reduced cost
(Examples: Close Quarters equipped by Arveiaturace, Arcane Upgrades Equipped by Nymmestra)?
Use the discounted rate. So for Arveiaturace, the opponent would subtract 0 LP due to Close Quarters.
