1. INTRODUCTION
A security assessment is a process that identifies weakness in physical structures,
personnel protection systems, processes, or other areas that may lead to a security
breach. A security assessment may also suggest options to eliminate or mitigate those
weaknesses. The IMO requirement for a security assessment calls for an assessment
that includes an on-scene survey and addresses at least:
